Question A: How are the rankings affected by ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฟ Joseph Parker's SD 12 win over ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง Dereck Chisora?

My vote: Parker to #7, Chisora out.

Question B: How are the rankings affected by ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฝ Andy Ruiz's UD 12 win over ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Chris Arreola?

My vote: Ruiz to #12, Arreola remains unranked.

I would have thought Chisora's reputation was moderately enhanced by this performance. I can't see any justification for removing him from the top 15 for giving a hard time to a top ten contender, when the are others on the list who haven't faced a top ten opponent in years, if at all.

ya, it grates on me a bit when ppl basically reward dudes for not challenging themselves, which is what you get when a guy drops for losing a split to a world ranked guy but lesser ambitious fighters get to stay put

chis has lots of losses but he's fought a f@cking murderer's row and could easily have gotten the ws vs whyte the first time and parker (he did for me). was obviously robbed vs helly

I don't think Povetkin should be in the top 10. I know he's got a good resume but he's so absolutely shot. It would be hard to put Del above Pulev who beat him easily, unless they rematched or Del had gotten the nod on Saturday, so the only change I'd make is to remove Povetkin from the rankings and then everybody underneath moves up a place.

This doesn't work like that though, does it?
Yeah, it doesn't work like that, however, you still have enough time to make a valid vote :TU:
Alright. Chisora to 12. Parker stays where he is for now, as does Ruiz.

I don't suppose they take any notice of internet posts but if they did then you could say this prevailing attitude you and I are calling out, reinforces the idea that you should never fight anyone you aren't going to beat (unless it's for a sack of money and a shot at the title).

Respect to the voting process but mental that POV stays above Parker and Ruiz stays number 6. These ratings are good, better than any other ratings Iโ€™ve seen, but I fear they have to much inertia... whenโ€™s the next full reset revote?

Think it's more an issue of lack of activity in the division rather than the system of voting.

Though I imagine some fighters are getting close to being unranked. Though I don't recall what dag said the cut-off for inactivity was. 18 months?

Initially, it was 12 months but due to the current situation (covid) I thought that 18 months will be more reasonable. At this moment, only Fury and Wilder are staying inactive for more than 12 months. Despite that, as you say, lack of activity is a problem because fighting Laughery, Flores, Sylvera Louis etc is not a real activity at all, also, there are really few fights among the top 15 fighters, these fights generally bring significant changes in the rankings, Parker vs Chisora didn't and it was quite unusual. Povetkin will probably retire, Ortiz and Pulev are +40 years old, we will get a lot of changes in the ranking sooner or later.

This is the list of upcoming HW fights outside the top 15 isn't impressive, they're not going to bring any change but will maybe move some of those fighters closer to the ranking:

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Viktor Vykhryst - 6(4) 0 0 vs ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฑ Jacek Krzysztof Piฤ…tek - 11(9) 0 0
๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ Evgeniy Romanov - 15(11) 0 0 vs ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ Dmitriy Kudryashov - 24(23) 3(3) 0
๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฑ ลukasz Rรณลผaล„ski - 13(12) 0 0 vs ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฑ Artur Szpilka - 24(16) 4(4) 0
๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช Agit Kabayel - 20(13) 0 0 vs ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Kevin Johnson - 35(19) 17(3) 1
๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง Daniel Dubois - 15(14) 1(1) 0 vs ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ด Bogdan Dinu - 20(16) 2(2) 0
๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ฎ Robert Helenius - 30(19) 3(2) 0 vs ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฑ Adam Kownacki - 20(15) 1(1) 0

It's only the Helenius v Kownacki rematch out of those mentioned that will require us to vote, and I would expect to see a fair number of "no change"s.

If Kabayel wins in a blaze I'd have to think about inserting him. ๐Ÿ‘€

I don't think Kabayel does 'blazes' in fact he doesn't seem to do much of anything. His biggest win (Chisora) is lost in the mists of time. If Kevin Johnson is the best he can come up with, then he might as well f*ck off as far as I'm concerned.

After giving it large about what he was going to do to Joshua and getting duly blasted out, Johnson said he was going to hang 'em up, he wasn't going to hang around to be beaten on by a kids on their way up. How many years ago was that? How many years ago did beating Kingpin actually mean anything?

I think the nickname 'Kingpin' originally was intended to indicate some kind of overlord or top-dog. Now it has more of a bowling connotation i.e. he's right there waiting for anybody vaguely competent to knock him over.

I guess we should vote on it. I'd also drop Rivas and replace 14 and 15 with Hrgovic and Yoka. Wallin and those others move up a place due to Povetkin's retirement.

Yea, i personaly think a vote to clear out some dead wood wouldent be terrible... cant just sit in the rankings forever based on your past.

If you havent had a meaningfull fight for 18 months we should be able to vote to lower or drop people. in that catagory i would have Rivas, Hunter, Ortiz i think.... I also think pulev not winning a round for 18months should get him out of there, but we got a chance to vote on that recently and people disagreed so im fine with there opinion on that.

I agree with that in principle but there is also the point that the deadwood needs replacing with people whose accomplishments are more impressive than those who are being dropped. Let's face it, we are not exactly inundated with qualified candidates.

Gorman was and is unproven. It was a good fight to take but Gorman has not proven since that the win should worth much. Dubois passes the eyetest and had a few close rounds with Joyce but his wins are not too great.
