Great fight, for large portions of the bout at least, between two well matched top tier guys who put it all out there.

Shame Kenny Bayless was involved though, dreadful from the opening round. If you are going to break them, break them! If you are going to break them 15 times a round, take a fornicating point and make them tidy things up, if you keep getting in the way, move away, if a fighter is down don't give him 10 seconds extra to recover.

The guys from being one of the best in the sport to being incompetent in the space of a few years.

His control of the fight was poor, his positioning was terrible. Just overall a crap job by a man who is supposed to be there to govern the bout.

Funny thing is he was terrible to both guys.

Great fight, great performance by Taylor. Deserved it. Took his foot off the gas a little, probably under instruction because of the knockdowns. I had it same as the judges - the knockdowns were the difference. Ramirez put in a good shift too. Tough bastard, just not quite as skilful.

Can't see anyone beating Taylor who is currently at 140, but there's some very interesting fights from lightyweight (Davis, Lomachenko) and I fear It will be a different situation at 147 - that's where it gets interesting. He wouldn't be able to sit on the ropes or have rounds off against Crawford, Mikey Garcia etc, he'd get battered. I'd keep him at 140 unless the money gets ridiculous.

Fair play to Ramirez too He's an excellent fighter, but you don't switch off for a second against a true livewire like Taylor...or pay the price.

Amazing performance by Taylor, déjà vu - like in his previous two big fights, after about four rounds he was looking like he might be in big trouble, Ramirez looked like an unstoppable bull and hellacious body shots slamming home, but then my God does he turn it around with some huge shots, sensational stuff.

Everything against him, the crowd and that f*king dumb ass ref, giving the Mex all the time in the world with those two knockdowns.

I had it 113-113 but I did give Ramirez 4 out of 6 very close rounds.
I could easily make a case for Taylor 114-112 or wider but zero case for any kind of Ramirez victory.
I do think those knockdowns vital though.

Date for Josh Taylor open top bus parade after historic title win

PRESTONPANS is to toast Josh Taylor’s boxing success with the world champion to enjoy an open-top bus victory parade through the town next weekend.

Covid-19 restrictions have made it difficult to organise official public celebrations for Josh following his Las Vegas win on May 22 where he became undisputed super lightweight champion of the world – however a large crowd did turn out on Prestonpans High Street to give the champ an impromptu welcome home on his return to the UK.
