Babic v Bennett

Post by jameswilson »

Alen ‘The Cabbage’ Babic takes on enigma of the Domestic scene Mark Bennett on week 2 of fight camp.

An interesting one as we all don’t rate Babic but how good or bad is Bennett? Albeit in the 3 round environment he has some domestic wins but hardly any knockouts despite being a big bloke. Obviously not that much shame in losing to Webb as Webb probably will stop most guys of English level.

Thoughts?

Well, it looks a good match up, Bennett is a big, fit guy and will go in and throw lots of punches - this will keep him grounded at the domestic level but he will be a test for Babic who I don't think is big enough at heavyweight to step up in class - he should beat Bennett on points in a good value scrap but he needs cruiserweight or 'bridgerweight' more than most!

I'm hoping this is 8 rounds plus as I can't believe Babic wouldn't have been blowing out his arse if he'd had to do 3 more rounds at the pace he's been setting in his other televised fights.

It'll be a fun scrap I'm sure.

Are these really the fights that Hearn wasn't able to make on Sky Sports though?

All 3 are pretty good cards but there’s nothing crazy that you, as you say, we wouldn’t have had on a usual Sky Sports show. Perhaps a bit more depth on the shows but there will still be a few mismatches (like Ebanie Bridges’ fight).

I’m a bit underwhelmed by the shows to be honest. I guess that happens when they’re built up so much.

Any word on commentators or presenters?

Yes it's an 8 rounder.

I saw Babic for the first time this month. :bag:
Why aren't you guys hot on him?

What a wrecking ball. Reminds me of a young Mike Tyson. A proper handful for anyone. I give him a punchers chance right up to and including contender level.
Limited - yep
Ambitious - yep
Dangerous - yep
Fun to watch- you bet :TU:

Sure he is gonna come a cropper at some stage, but that will be after cutting a swathe of unconscious blokes on his way to it :yay:

Why aren't we hot on him? Because he's nothing like a young Mike Tyson!

I dont get why Babic is so hyped. Hes fun and good to watch. But still a novice and his weight is the real question. Just not big enough for the modern heavyweight

He's entertaining in the ring and a character at press conferences.

Everyone on here is waiting for him to be pancaked so the hype isn't on here at all. People just aknowledge he is entertaining.

To be fair the way he had Chambers unconcsious was a chiller of a knockout.

I want to see Nathan fire up and get Babic's skin at the press conference.

Shawndell Winters tried the getting under his skin tactic. It didn’t exactly go great for him.

Yep, nailed it :TU:
I'm not hyped on him, but its going to be a fun ride until he is sparked.
Just refreshing to have that kind of fighter in the mix.

Babic should win Bennet seems very limited but is quite a thick set guy so might be more a bit more durable opponent.

They aren't taking any chances with Babic just yet. Bennett isn't probably the guy to chin check The Cabbage this time around.

Bennett lacks amateur experience and also over a year out of the ring due to Vivid and lack of boxers his level willing to fight him. He had a 'title' fight lined up and initially it was going ahead but 'politics' scuppered the fight. Bennett 8 fights and a few unlicenced wins and according to my son is 'a big unit' has a chance and can't be written off. Boxing is a strange game where 1 punch can change the course of the whole fight.

I spoke to Bennett Thursday and he's training hard for this and leaving 'no stone unturned' of course he's a late starter in boxing so more suspect to injury. He's a decent kid, wears his heart on his sleeve and deserves this opportunity that could change his whole life if he beats Babic.

Bennett shipped a few shots from Webb which I suppose gains currency after the latter put away the Russian-German bloke.

Babic will crush Bennett. Babic is a really fun to watch fighter. It'll be interesting to see him fighting someone, who can box.
