Sean Davies. He used to get a lift to the local amateur gym. Came in bandaged up hands .. half heartedly hit bags, then waited for lift home.
He did this for about 3 months until he couldn't get the lift to the gym ..

However, for the last 35-40 years he still describes himself as an boxer. Some kids at the local amateur gym even believe him too.

This Sean Davies was too good to fight for the British title - as some other British boxing greats were too - and was always too dangerous to be a journeyman. In fact he was too dangerous to even actually have any amateur contests; but apparently was a world class sparrer .. he no doubt belongs to the Charley Burley; Sam Langford, and Holman Williams club of lil remembered greats (in the stories he tells the kids at his local gym anyways)

I wonder if it’s exaggerated a bit how lazy he was because of his disappearing acts. Did he ever miss the weight at all, I can’t remember. I’d love to speak to the people around the gym at the time to see if he was a grafter when he actually turned up.

I remember thinking he looked huge for his weight in some fights.
