Heavyweights : David Haye vs. David Tua
Heavyweights : David Haye vs. David Tua
12 rounds,who wins?
Re: Heavyweights : David Haye vs. David Tua
Haye could outbox Tua easily, but the puncher's chance of Tua would be especially big in this case, with Haye being chinny. Still I lean a bit more towards Haye.
Re: Heavyweights : David Haye vs. David Tua
Nice fight I think
Haye if he boxes/moves and also sets a few traps where he counter hard and discourage Tua from walking-on.
Maybe a bit of holding and smothering needed too.
If he gets too macho - wants any kind of firefight from the get-go - he potentially gets decked and stopped.
Do quite like this one because Haye can potentially win it on the cards or get blown to pieces.

Re: Heavyweights : David Haye vs. David Tua
Haye outboxes Tua for several rounds, and then gets knocked out late. Happened to quite a few of Tua's opponents.
Re: Heavyweights : David Haye vs. David Tua
Haye knew how to go safety first and win a decision if he had to. Most likely outcome would be Haye by a near shutout. Slight chance he could get overconfident and go for the knockout. If he goes that route, Tua stops him around the 7th.
Re: Heavyweights : David Haye vs. David Tua
Either Haye takes a decision or Tua would KO Haye if Haye tried to trade bombs with Tua.

Re: Heavyweights : David Haye vs. David Tua
If Tua fights like he is capable of, he stops Haye. There were times when he was lethargic and this would obviously help Haye. However, if he was aggressive , he would stop Haye.
In real life, it's usually better to pick the guy who has beaten better fighters. This would have been by far the biggest win of Haye's career. We need to go by what the guy actually did when picking these fights.

bruh, these fights aint merely a resume comparison, plus my gawd are some people selective about when they just play that card ....sometimes its just about whose beaten the best opponent, other times its 'omg from film you can see he was amazing at parrying'
anyway this is a solid matchup between the daves, haye would surely be up on points but could he make it to the end? i can see either guy winning tbh

Re: Heavyweights : David Haye vs. David Tua
Yes styles are a factor. Styles can make a difference if the two guys are close in ability.
However, if Fighter A (in this case Haye) has never beaten a fighter nearly as good as Fighter B (in this case Tua) then he probably isn't going to beat Fighter B.
If he was really that good, in the real world he would have beaten someone at that level.

So, do you think Tua had more abilities than Haye?Ambling Alp II wrote: ↑30 Jun 2021, 11:04 Yes styles are a factor. Styles can make a difference if the two guys are close in ability.

Re: Heavyweights : David Haye vs. David Tua
Haye could do some things better than Tua. However, (assuming Tua fought close to his best), Tua would have won. Haye never beat anyone at this level. There is not much reason for this obsession that some have for him.

At some things? At which ones? Or, to make it easier for you, in what things Tua was better than Haye?Ambling Alp II wrote: ↑30 Jun 2021, 14:47 Haye could do some things better than Tua. Re: Heavyweights : David Haye vs. David Tua
For starters, Tua a lot more power, especially with his left hook. Tua had a lot better chin. If Tua stayed busy, he would be too much for Haye.
Re: Heavyweights : David Haye vs. David Tua
Power, chin and that's it. Thanks gawd, even you came up with it. While Haye had better skillset, arsenal, speed, footwork and ring IQ. However, it's not quite clear, how exactly you calculated, that Tua had a lot more power.Ambling Alp II wrote: ↑30 Jun 2021, 14:54 For starters, Tua a lot more power, especially with his left hook. Re: Heavyweights : David Haye vs. David Tua
How did I calculate it? i don't how do you calculate punching power? Some kind of mathematical formula?
Not saying Tua was a legend. However, anyone who saw him knows he was a big puncher.
If Haye had all this ability, why is he a guy who was 28-4 with no notable wins? Why doesn't anybody say, Haye beat this guy or that guy?
There a re a zillion guys we never talk about with comparable careers.
Yet there are constant posts about his greatness. Time after time in Mythical Fights, he would beat a guy far superior to anyone he ever beat in real life.
What is with the obsession?

Re: Heavyweights : David Haye vs. David Tua
You are totally delirious. What are you trying to refute here? Where did someone call Haye a great HW here? Nobody did that FFS. Neither Haye was great, nor Tua. Haye had a significantly better overall skillset than Tua and could outpoint him, but with his chin Haye could be KOed at any point. Tua would never outbox Haye, while the KO can't be guaranteed. That's it.Ambling Alp II wrote: ↑30 Jun 2021, 16:48 How did I calculate it? i don't how do you calculate punching power? Some kind of mathematical formula?

Re: Heavyweights : David Haye vs. David Tua
Haye is brought up an awful lot. He is often picked over guys that were far better than anyone that he ever beat. Why? There are tons of other guys at least as good as him who hardly ever get mentioned.
I don't think it is a guarantee that Tua would stop Haye. I just think given his power, Haye's chin, it is probable. Haye's amazing "skillset" probably would not have been enough.

Re: Heavyweights : David Haye vs. David Tua
Two very special fighters. Styles make fights and that's what makes this one hard to predict. Mathematics say that David Tua should easily win. I however have the feeling that David Haye might just have held like the key to defeating a fighter like Tua due to stylistic differences. We'll never know.
Re: Heavyweights : David Haye vs. David Tua
Tua by KO.
Re: Heavyweights : David Haye vs. David Tua
Battle of the bangers... But Haye's reflexes win it for him...
