Re: who do you WANT mungy to fight next?
with ggg and mung both with dazn.....that's a fight that has to happen at some point
you'd think the perspective would be that they are changing the guard
so do they wait a few more fights, to firm up mung's chances in that one?

Re: who do you WANT mungy to fight next?
he was originally supposed to fight sulecki, makes you wonder if it might be him next, would be a bit of a step up but not too ambitious
Re: who do you WANT mungy to fight next?
I think the most even opponent he can fight next might perhaps be Andrade or Lara, paving the way for a later fight with Charlo or GGG. But I think his management would be wise to match him with someone more in the ballpark of #6-10, followed by Andrade / Lara / Eubank, followed by someone even higher.

Re: who do you WANT mungy to fight next?
Jaime Munguia doesn’t deserve to engage in a marquee fight until he’s fought someone with pulse - a world-rated fighter such as Sergiy Derevyanchenko or Chris Eubank Jr. would fit the bill.
Genuine fans of the sport shouldn’t reward fighters, with padded records, that engage in mismatches against journeymen calibre opposition.
Jaime Munguia’s resume at 160lbs is almost as padded as Christopher Lovejoy’s at heavyweight.

I was embellishing, obviously, but Munguia’s resume is padded at 160lbs.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑22 Jun 2021, 00:45Enlightened-One wrote: ↑22 Jun 2021, 00:42 Jaime Munguia’s resume at 160lbs is almost as padded as Christopher Lovejoy’s at heavyweight.![]()
No one can seriously claim he’s EARNED a big payday opportunity by BEATING anyone of any real significance at MIDDLEWEIGHT, because it’s clear he HASN’T!
Re: who do you WANT mungy to fight next?
Who did Dennis Hogan beat at middle weight to get his shot at Charlo? Nobody, as in 0.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑22 Jun 2021, 00:42 Jaime Munguia doesn’t deserve to engage in a marquee fight until he’s fought someone with pulse - a world-rated fighter such as Sergiy Derevyanchenko or Chris Eubank Jr. would fit the bill.

Who did Brandon Adams beat to get his shot at Charlo?
Who did Montiel beat to get his shot at Charlo? Kirkland?
Munguia has defeated two of the three above. Munguia would bring more interest/$$$ to the table than Charlo.
Munguia won the WBO super welter belt by stopping Sadam Ali and he defended that belt 5 times in less than a year and a half before moving up to middle weight. He has won three consecutive fights at MW. Munguia is a fan favorite. He has built a following that would show up for an MW title fight.
Charlo had trouble with a guy Munguia dispatched unceremoniously. Munguia has had trouble with a guy Charlo dispatched easily.
It is a good fight that would draw a decent gate if promoted properly and a good television audience on any platform.
I would love to see it on DAZN.

Re: who do you WANT mungy to fight next?
to be fair since mung has moved up to 160 in early 2020 he has vs 3 decent, but not good guys and stopped em all. Thats better than what most have done since then...Enlightened-One wrote: ↑22 Jun 2021, 00:42 Jaime Munguia doesn’t deserve to engage in a marquee fight until he’s fought someone with pulse - a world-rated fighter such as Sergiy Derevyanchenko or Chris Eubank Jr. would fit the bill.

-Charlo has done better with a win over derev and going 12 rounds with a guy mungbean stopped in a couple of rounds..
-Demetrius Andrade has mabey done better based on the liam williams win.
-GGG has fought one decent guy, but not good
-Lara has fought one Bad Guy
-Eubank has one bad win
-Derev dosent have a win
-Murata dosent have a fight
-Sulecki has 1 bad win.
-Williams has a trash win and a loss to Andrade.
At 160 since Mung has been there, There has been 2 good wins in the division, thats Charlo beating Derev. Demetrius beating Williams, the rest is poor. Bit sad really.

Golovkin or Charlo. But he'll fight Rosado at best.

Golovkin, Charlo and Derevyanchenko would defeat him (though Serhiy would lose via BS decision). Sulęcki wouldn't be a favourite but I can see Maciej defeating him as well. Rosado would likely lose but he is far from being a no-hoper in this fight.

Andrade. They're both under the DAZN banner, the fact that both guys keep fighting nobodies instead of each other is embarrassing.

Is your argument that fighters no longer have to earn their shot at the big time?ironbeard wrote: ↑22 Jun 2021, 02:01Who did Dennis Hogan beat at middle weight to get his shot at Charlo? And that beating journeymen quicker than bigger names defeated the same overmatched opposition is all that should suffice?
I’m confused, because I always criticise Golovkin, Charlo and Andrade for engaging in mismatches, but are you suggesting that Jaime Munguia be considered immune from being on the receiving-end of such criticism?
In 2018, the NSAC refused to sanction a bout between GGG and Jaime Munguia, because of his age and lack of experience - at the time, his resume was utter garbage!
For sure, his resume is better nowadays and his career has progressed, but would you seriously claim to be impressed by the calibre of foes he’s fought since then?
I'm happy to discuss each name if you want.

Re: who do you WANT mungy to fight next?
charlo is untouchable, no one deserves to fight him
Re: who do you WANT mungy to fight next?
I answered Golovkin, though honestly I'd be fine with Golovkin retiring after fighting Murata in Japan. I figure that's a big money fight for him, a winnable big money fight, I don't believe Munguia would be as big a money fight as that, so Murata seems like a good note to go out on for GGG, but of course it's his career, and his decision.
Re: who do you WANT mungy to fight next?
I am saying that he has done much more to warrant his shot at Charlo than a number of those given shots in his defenses.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑22 Jun 2021, 13:02Is your argument that fighters no longer have to earn their shot at the big time?ironbeard wrote: ↑22 Jun 2021, 02:01Who did Dennis Hogan beat at middle weight to get his shot at Charlo? Derevyanchenko got his shot at a title in his 13th fight and a very poor overall list of opponents. He has since received a 2nd and third shot at titles. I am not questioning the man’s boxing skills, but he is 1-3 in his last four fights, and his signature victories are Culcay, Tureano Johnson, and Sam Soliman.
Murata deserves a shot, and it looks like he will get it v 3G.
I have no problem with Munguia fighting Eubank Jr., if it can be arranged, but I prefer Charlo based on their common opponents, Hogan and Montiel.
It would not be a super fight, but it would be very big due to both fighters’ top of mind positioning and Munguia’s Mexican following on both sides of the border. It makes business sense if neither can arrange a 3G fight.
I am not here to argue. I am just answering the question. This is not 2018. Munguia is 24 and he has proven himself enough at 154 and 160 to get a legit shot at a 160 belt. Charlo showed himself vulnerable to a big tough Mexican kid who Munguia had little problem with.
