Stranger things have happened than a dramatic decline from the Thurman fight. I mean that will have been 2 years by the time he steps in there with Spence, and he's past the dreadful age 40.skonczal wrote: ↑24 Jun 2021, 14:38 Spence is the obvious pick but Manny is certainly a live underdog. He has gradualy been slipping for a decade... na mabey not that long but close. I think he was poor vs thurman, i just think thurman was poorer (both are great fighters but thurmans body is 50, and pac was 40.). now we are 2 years off after that and he has been likly more focused on politics than boxing through that period considering how hectic a 2 years it has been.skonczal wrote: ↑24 Jun 2021, 14:38 Spence is the obvious pick but Manny is certainly a live underdog. That said, Pacs a beast so yea a live dog due to the unknowns but i fear pac might just get bashed up here.

How did Spence look vs Danny Garcia? Did he show any ill effects from the car crash there? I didn't see that particular fight, but I guess he looked ok huh?gregregegg wrote: ↑24 Jun 2021, 15:38He has gradualy been slipping for a decade... na mabey not that long but close. Looked decent. Always hard to tell. Beat Danny more clearly than porter, but I think porter is a harder fight so that makes sense. Didn’t look like a world beater though.
Re: Manny Pacquiao vs. Errol Spence - August 21, 2021
Spence admitted he was only 75-80% for the Danny Garcia fight, and he made the Porter fight much harder than he had to by brawling instead of boxing. He cut from 185 for DG, and his weight is much better now, even though he really has to drain to make 147. He'll be even better at 154.gregregegg wrote: ↑25 Jun 2021, 04:48 Looked decent. There's no excuses in Boxing. If he can't make weight, and he loses then he's a loser who can't beat an old man. I agree 100%. If Spence loses to Pac, it will set his career back bigtime. The pressure is on him. Even a close win over Pac will make him look over rated in my eyes. We'll see Spence at his best I think, with a dominant performance.gilgamesh wrote: ↑25 Jun 2021, 19:50There's no excuses in Boxing. No official conformation from VADA. Spence has said testing will be done though. Hopefully Manny hasn't got his fear of needles back.Jeff_lacy_ko wrote: ↑26 Jun 2021, 09:48 Pac was vada tested for vargas, horn, broner, matthyse but not thurman

It'll set his career back forever. He may still have more fights, and may still get paid well, but he'll be the B-side from that point on, and he'll never be considered an ATG.Bandog wrote: ↑26 Jun 2021, 08:15I agree 100%. Pacquiao: Paradigm Sports Lawsuit Against Me Has No Merit
Manny Pacquiao is ready to go the distance in court to ensure that he can proceed to the ring on his own terms.
The record-setting eight-division titlist remains hard at work for an upcoming challenge of unified WBC/IBF welterweight titlist Errol Spence Jr. (27-0, 21 KOs). Their bout tops a Fox Sports Pay-Per-View event presently slated to take place August 21 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, where tickets are already moving at a brisk pace.
That is, of course, assuming the bout moves forward in present form.
Recently coming to surface is a breach of lawsuit filed against Pacquiao by Paradigm Sports and its founder/combat sports manager Audie Attar, alleging that the legendary Filipino southpaw was advanced $3.3 million for business arrangements that never transpired. Paradigm—whose legal team is headed by well-known boxing attorney Judd Burstein—has also filed an injunction seeking to block Pacquiao-Spence.
“[The] Paradigm Sports lawsuit against me has no merit,” Pacquiao told Boxing Scene in a statement through his MP Promotions. “I have an absolute right under the agreement with Paradigm to engage in the upcoming bout with Errol Spence.”
The heart of the lawsuit filed by Paradigm indicates a four-fight deal reached after the two sides connected last February. According to the complaint, part of the deal was to include a fight between Pacquiao (62-7-2, 39 KOs) and former four-division titlist Mikey Garcia (40-1, 30 KOs)—which Paradigm expected Pacquiao to announce earlier this spring upon revelation that he had big news to share with his public.
Instead came the surprise reveal that the full-time Senator will return to face Spence in a potential three-belt unification match pending his reinstatement as WBA “Super” welterweight champion. The announcement was made in late May, confirming Pacquiao’s first fight since a July 2019 win over then-unbeaten Keith Thurman atop a Fox Sports PPV event from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The development has since left Paradigm and Attar to take action to protect their alleged investment. Their actions were met with resistance from Pacquiao’s legal team.
“The complaint filed by Paradigm Sports in California state court on Friday is a frivolous effort to interfere with Manny Pacquiao’s upcoming mega fight, and it can and will fail for numerous reasons,” Dale Kinsella, representing Pacquiao on behalf of Kinsella Weitzman Iser Kump LLP said in a statement issued to Boxing Scene. “Moreover, had Manny Pacquiao known that Paradigm Sports appears to have had no intention of fulfilling its contractual obligations, he never would have entered into any relationship with them.”
For now, the welterweight superfight will proceed as planned. Apparently, so will the lawsuit and injunction until a court rules otherwise.
Pacquiao—who has won titles at flyweight, junior featherweight, featherweight, junior lightweight, lightweight, junior welterweight, welterweight and junior middleweight—plans to be just as ready for a legal battle as the next one he faces in the ring.
“If this frivolous lawsuit continues, I will be proven correct in court,” vows Pacquiao.

Re: Manny Pacquiao vs. Errol Spence - August 21, 2021
So here’s my understanding of the situation.
• Pacquiao definitely confirmed that he’d signed with Paradigm Sports during 2020 and it was publicly announced that it was the only organisation representing Manny’s interests.
• Dustin Poirier scuppered Paradigm’s plans to orchestrate a bout between Conor McGregor and Manny Pacquiao, with the fight having already been agreed prior to the Irish man's loss.
• And despite the media’s claims of Manny having one fight remaining of his contract with the PBC, Paradigm Sports tried to arrange a deal with DAZN to stage the Mikey Garcia bout.
• Meanwhile, Manny Pacquiao signed a deal to fight Terence Crawford, but the bout fell through, because Top Rank couldn’t finance it. And this led to the Filipino facing fellow PBC stablemate Errol Spence Jr. instead (and consequently fulfilling the terms of his contract with Al Haymon). The Filipino obviously didn’t include Paradigm in the negotiation of those two deals.
You'd have to assume that Paradigm would have paid Pacquiao a signing-on payment in order to acquire the exclusive right to manage Manny’s career, but it’s clear the Filipino reneged on the agreement he’d signed.
In my mind, this trivial issue will probably be settled out-of-court, with Pacquiao paying Paradigm Sports a few million dollars to keep quiet and go away.
I’m guessing that the media will announce (in a few weeks time) that Paradigm Sports has dropped the lawsuit with the matter considered closed (neither party admitting to blame).
The PR guys at the PBC won't want this lawsuit overshadowing the Pacquiao-Spence fight.

Manny Pacquiao: I Need To Have Stamina For Spence, Ensure I Don't Fall Short
Errol Spence Jr. wound up winning the Manny Pacquiao sweepstakes.
The WBC and IBF welterweight champion Spence (27-0, 21 KOs) will face boxing’s only eight-division champion in Pacquiao (62-7-2, 39 KOs) on Aug. 21 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on FOX Sports pay per view.
The Filipino senator and future first-ballot Hall of Fame fighter entertained facing the likes of Conor McGregor, Terence Crawford, Mikey Garcia and Ryan Garcia before singling out Spence, one of the sport’s pound-for-pound best.
"I'm not like some other guys who are in it just for the money," Pacquiao told the Pinoy program “Power & Play,” a show hosted by former PBA commissioner Noli Eala. "Some other fighters challenge non-boxers just to get paid. I want to fight. I want to challenge the best."
"If I'm fighting for the money, then I would have picked some scrub to fight. Why would I try to fight an undefeated fighter if I'm chasing the paycheck? This is a real fight. I fight because this is my passion. I love beating undefeated fighters and bringing honor to my country.
"I picked among Terence Crawford, Errol Spence and Mikey Garcia. We then came up with the decision to fight Errol. But I thought a Crawford fight would also be good since he's also undefeated."
Pacquiao’s remarks served as a rebuttal to Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s recent statements.
“Money” Mayweather picked on Pacquiao ahead of his promotion of the Logan Paul exhibition and said the Filipino was still forced to fight for financial reasons.
"When I come and do an exhibition or come out and box and have some fun, I do it because I want to do it, not because I have to do it,” Mayweather said at the time. “Whereas Pacquiao at his age, it's sad that he has to fight. I'm financially set and I want to let everybody know this."
The 42-year-old Pacquiao has not fought since July 2019 when he scored a spirited split-decision win over Keith Thurman. In January of the same year, Pacquiao bested Adrien Broner via unanimous decision.
"I need to have stamina and good conditioning [for the Spence fight,]" said Pacquiao. "In this fight, you have to expect more action in the ring compared to my last three fights. I have to make sure that my stamina is enough so I don't fall short in all 12 rounds."
Pacquiao will be fighting for the first time in 25 months.
But will he be fighting for the final time in his legendary career?
"It's hard to say right now. It could be, but there could also be more fights after this," he said. "I'm taking it one at a time. We can't tell the future."

You can't compare Pacquiao with Mayweather nowadays.
One is fighting top boxers like Thurman and Spence, and the other is fighting YouTubers.
If Mayweather wants to stay as a boxer he could easily fight Manny again.
But of course he won't.
All he can do is make snide comments from the wings about those that still want to box.

I used to think Crawford is a worse style match-up for Pac, but not sure if he would be. Spence is a high volume puncher that will be much harder to out-point if it goes the distance.

Re: Manny Pacquiao vs. Errol Spence - August 21, 2021

Press Release
Eight-division world champion and Philippine Senator Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao takes on undefeated unified WBC and IBF Welterweight World Champion Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr. in a blockbuster championship showdown that headlines a FOX Sports PBC Pay-Per-View Saturday, August 21, from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The pay-per-view will begin at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT and will pit the division’s reigning king against a sports legend that has proven that he is still worthy of his long-held standing in recent years. Spence will look to earn a legacy-defining victory, while Pacquiao seeks one more monumental win to add to his first-ballot Hall of Fame resume.
Both fighters kick off the promotional campaign side by side this Sunday, July 11, when they’ll appear for a live televised press conference on FOX beginning at 5 p.m. ET.
The hour-long program will feature commentary from former opponents Keith “One Time” Thurman and “Showtime” Shawn Porter, who will offer their analysis before Pacquiao and Spence return to their training camps.
Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by TGB Promotions, MP Promotions, and Man Down Promotions, are on sale now and can be purchased through t-mobilearena.com and axs.com.
“This is as big of a fight that can be made in boxing, and the whole world will be watching on FOX Sports PBC Pay-Per-View August 21,” said Tom Brown, President of TGB Promotions.
“Manny Pacquiao is a hero to his nation, a living legend in the ring, and is once again seeking the biggest challenge available to him, as he’s done throughout his career.
Errol Spence Jr. has reigned as the world’s top welterweight for years and will now have a chance to cement further his pound-for-pound credentials in the biggest fight of his career. Whether you’re watching at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas or live on pay-per-view, August 21 is sure to be a memorable night for the sport.”
This will be the fourth FOX Sports PBC Pay-Per-View headlined by Spence (27-0, 21 KOs), who unified welterweight titles in September 2019 by besting Shawn Porter in one of the best fights of the year.
Spence was launched into stardom when the 31-year-old first captured a welterweight crown by traveling to the U.K. to stop Kell Brook in front of his hometown fans in 2017. He followed up his title-winning victory with triumphs over Lamont Peterson and Carlos Ocampo in 2018.
Fighting out of his native Desoto, Texas, Spence returned to the ring last December for the first time since miraculously surviving a car accident in October 2019.
He was thrown from the vehicle before it crashed. Spence thrilled his hometown crowd at AT&T Stadium by defeating two-division champion Danny Garcia by unanimous decision.
Spence represented the U.S. at the 2012 Olympics before turning pro later that year and scoring knockouts in 10 of his first 12 fights, showing the promise that he would eventually fulfill on the biggest stages of the sport.
“I’ve been waiting on this kind of major boxing event my entire career,” said Spence. “Manny Pacquiao is a boxing legend and future Hall of Famer.
To match skills with him and come out with a victory would be the highlight of my career thus far. I’m coming to win, and he’s coming to win, and that’s what makes for an all-action fight. I can’t wait to step into the ring at T-Mobile Arena on August 21 in what I expect to be an exciting night.’’

After serving two terms as Congressman, Pacquiao was elected to a Philippine Senate seat in May 2016, capturing over 16 million votes nationally.
A three-time Fighter of the Year and the one-time Boxing Writers Association of America’s Fighter of the Decade, Pacquiao (62-7-2, 39 KOs), hails from Sarangani Province in the Philippines, is the only sitting Congressman and Senator to win a world title.
Pacquiao’s boxing resume features victories over at least seven current and future Hall of Famers, including Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, Miguel Cotto, Shane Mosley, and Juan Manuel Marquez.
In January 2019, Pacquiao put on a vintage performance against four-division champion Adrien Broner, scoring a 12-round unanimous decision in the 70th match of an illustrious career, marking his first time fighting back in the U.S. in two years.
In his most recent performance, Pacquiao added another Fight of the Year contender to his resume, as he dropped then-unbeaten Keith Thurman in the first round on his way to a decision victory in a memorable action fight in July 2019.
“I am excited to be battling Errol Spence Jr.,” said Pacquiao. “Like me, Errol has an aggressive, all-action style of fighting. Boxing fans watching at T-Mobile Arena or on pay-per-view will be happy with this world championship fight. It is going to be wild!”
Re: Manny Pacquiao vs. Errol Spence - August 21, 2021
It will be a PPV worth buying, unless you are a big Pac fan. Credit to Pac for taking such a dangerous fight. I can't help but think his team has given him false confidence to do this, all with $ signs in their eyes.

While part of me thinks pac loses bad and this is to big, to young, to good an opponent for an old pac, its daring to be great, if 42 year old undersized pac somehow beats prime, big number 1 welter spence, then it says alot about his GOAT claims.

It would be an incredible achievement if he pulls it off.gregregegg wrote: ↑10 Jul 2021, 05:27 While part of me thinks pac loses bad and this is to big, to young, to good an opponent for an old pac, its daring to be great, if 42 year old undersized pac somehow beats prime, big number 1 welter spence, then it says alot about his GOAT claims.
I think Spence will box at a distance the first half when Pac is more dangerous, then show another gear and take Pac into deep waters and Freddie throws in the towel in the 9th or 10th round...unless Spence KO's him first.

Wow this reinstating manny was both financially smart for wba, but kinda the right thing to do. Manny went inactive during the worst of covid, he is a senator, probably had shit to do. Now after covid has settled a touch he is fighting the top welterweight in the world. Should of give him his belt back.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑10 Jul 2021, 13:18 WBA have decided they will not re-instate Pac as super champion.
