RIP Brian London
If any old school boxing fans heard that former British Heavyweight contender Brian London, who fought both Floyd Patterson and the "GOAT" in Muhammad Ali for each of their World Heavyweight titles had passed away at the rightful old aged of 87. London was the last of the Big Four of the British Heavyweights who outlived his rivals in Sir Henry Cooper, Dick Richardson and Joe Erskine. Not just London outlived both former World Heavyweight Champions in Muhammad Ali and Floyd Patterson, but he also outlived former World Heavyweight Champion Ingemar Johansson and former World Light Heavyweight Champion in Willie Pastrano. London would be remembered as one of the British Heavyweight greats who fought in the Golden Era of Heavyweights.

Re: RIP Brian London
He seemed like a real character. The son of heavyweight Commonwealth Champion, Jack London. He must have had an outstanding amateur career as he won a gold medal at the Commonwealth games in the early 1950's. I think that London's pro records could be a bit deceiving and lead him to be underappreciated. He fought really gamely against Patterson in Indianapolis in '59. Fought with a peek-a-boo style similar to that of Patterson's. London beat Erskine, Pastrano, Folley and other really formidable fighters. I always thought that he was kind of crafty in his own way. Unfortunately, some fans base their assessment of him only on his fight against a prime Ali in '66. Finally, I heard that he had a pretty vigorous exercise routine even at an advanced age.
Re: RIP Brian London
Im really sad to hear this. Though im pleased he had a long life. I just done a documentary on youtube on the 1960 british heavyweights and of course he was alive at that point. Only Billy Walker left i think ....RIP tough and brave warrior...he wasnt the best but you cant deny he took them all on....
Re: RIP Brian London
RIP I remember he appeared on a show in the 80's called "Who's the Greatest?" One week it was Ali vs Marciano, I think Eamonn Andrews and Henry Cooper were defending Marciano's corner/case. Dennis Waterman and Brian London were defending Ali.
Re: RIP Brian London
Wow ...that's a blast from the childhood past...'who's the greatest?' I think i watched this with dad though i must have been very young. ..

I remember reading he still use to go on his long runs for roadwork like he had done like when he still was fighting as a pro up until a few years ago.

Re: RIP Brian London
also I remember he had published his autobiography
about ten years ago.
I think the title was STAY HARD !
it was published by a small publishing company,
I think they had to custom digitize the printings.
anyway I procarsinated a couple years to get it,
but I don't think it was available anymore.
