unfortunetly looking great doesnt mean nearly as much as actually beating a top opponent
he's obviously still very good but he better get a move on if he wants to still have it when he faces a top guy again

Loma had no rematch clause, but put a beat down on a mutual opponent.
Has earned that rematch.
This was the way of boxing years ago. Not just getting blasted out in a few rounds and then getting a rematch because it was in the contract.

im sure a rematch will happen, in house like uncle bob likes it. teo should be confident he'd do it again, and loma wants revenge. seems natural
teo just resigned with top rank as well....he's their long term guy now

The rematch should be majorly because of the sh!tty scores. It was either a draw or close dec for Lopez, but it was too wide.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑27 Jun 2021, 07:08 Loma had no rematch clause, but put a beat down on a mutual opponent.

At first I didn't want a rematch, cause Loma looked fed up with challenges and suffered another injury, but, after Loma came back fit and with such a will, the rematch gotta be interesting.

Kambosos is still in the way.
Re: Vasiliy Lomachenko vs. Masayoshi Nakatani - June 26, 2021
While it was a good win for Lomachenko I couldn't help but ask myself would he win a rematch with Teo after this.
I'd have to lean toward Teo, that said I'm sure Lomachenko will make him work real hard for it.

Loma gave Teo waaaayyy too much respect.
He didn't do crap in the first 7 rounds, basically handed them to him.
^^
Seem's accurate.
Didn't land double digits til round 8, it ws too late.
When he did turn up, he was dominant.

Teo was whistling counter bombs that just missed. Loma was used to toying with inferior fighters. Lopez tested his defensive skills and made him punch less.
Credit to loma for nutting up when he knew he was down but Lopez outnutted him in a dominant last Rd.

Agreed he deserves a rematch, but back in the day champions almost always got rematches and that was before rematch clauses. Even now, the clauses are just for voluntaries unless the champ is a massive name.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑27 Jun 2021, 07:08 Loma had no rematch clause, but put a beat down on a mutual opponent.

It's just annoying because they only fight once or twice a year at the top now.

A big part of the reason why Boxing is less popular than it used to be. Imagine if the top NBA team, played 2 games and called it a season.

They’re overpaid. They make enough money one fight for the year..Onetimeonly wrote: ↑28 Jun 2021, 08:35Agreed he deserves a rematch, but back in the day champions almost always got rematches and that was before rematch clauses. Russell literally just fights a mandatory every year.

Long time boxing pal of over 60 years Frankie La La and I made the trip out to Vegas to see this fight. We had seen many fights in the past at this venue when it was the Joint of the Hardrock. Venue is now called the Theater under new owner Virgin and no changes were made to the venue layout(venue is very small with great sight lines for every seat - even from the balcony). The chance to see Loma in a venue like this was too good to be true. We sat third row ring side and had a good view of Nakatani's corner. We both felt this fight should have been stopped by the corner/doctor after the seventh round. Nakatani took a real beating in round nine. Lopez's old man was in the house and wants a rematch in Madison Square Garden.

Yes it was another tremendous win by Loma.
Once again fighting outside his best weight and giving away yards in height and reach. You can say what you like about Lomachenko but you can't say he doesn't like to test himself.
Nakatani was a game opponent but that injury gives a lot to be concerned about.
For some reason eye sockets seem particularly vulnerable these days.

I think most people were surprised to see Teo rack up that many early rounds, I know I was.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑28 Jun 2021, 08:15Loma gave Teo waaaayyy too much respect.

It not only put him in solid shape on the cards, it also gave him a huge boost in confidence and belief that he could actually pull it off.
Once Lomachenko got going he had success, perhaps he misjudged just how many rounds in the fight to give up and had dug himself a hole he just couldn't get out of.
The rematch seems to be a no brainer and just a matter of when, guess we'll have a better idea come August 14th.

Sometimes the smaller venues are the best ones.Alguiffer wrote: ↑28 Jun 2021, 18:00 Long time boxing pal of over 60 years Frankie La La and I made the trip out to Vegas to see this fight. I saw him fight Nicholas Walters at the Cosmopolitan which is close to where you just saw him and that's a pretty small venue, a good one though and a decent atmosphere.
Sounds like you got a good seat and enjoyed it.
