was it alp here who told me that usyk didnt have toney's body of work at cruiser

i remember a thread about the cruisers from a year or so ago. all the dudes who moan about today's fighters not showing ambition or fighting top opposition were ragging on usyk, when he did all those things at cw and in record time. they just want to complain about boxing sucking today !

They are jesters. Particularly this division has just lived its best times. The landscape a bit deteriorated in the current decade, but it's simply stupid to complain about the WBSS era.

Well Toney did have more wins over cruiserweights. More against 10-round fighters. His best win was better than Usyk's. But hey, Usyk is more recent, which Trumps everything.

Toney defeated only one elite level cruiserweight. What made Jirov better than Briedis and Gassiev? Usyk defeated them and cleaned up the division. Nothing to do with recency here. Your oldie-bias is especially outrageous in this particular case.

ya, so many great wins over world class cruisers toney had right, its not like those 10 round fighters were dumpy c level americans on espn, like jason robinson and terry mcgroom and courtney butler. it's not even true either that he beat more 10 round fighters btw. he only beat 9 cruisers in his entire campaign there, whereas usyk won 7 world title fights alone (in 5 diff countries), all vs guys who would be toney's 1 or 2 win at cruiser, and beat other guys who'd been 10 . where do you come up with this nonsense?

very debatable on the best win thing too btw. im not sure how you even assess these things anymore with your obvious lack of following and knowledge about the current scene. the whole 'more 10 round fighters' thing is embarassing, aside from not even being true

jeez, you moan about fighters not taking on the best or pshing themselves, and even when a guy does it , and travels the world cleaning out the division you still wont give them credit, and just sh!t on them and come up with these bizarre arguments, just because they boxed within the last 10 years

here's one, of toney and usyk's combined cruiserweight wins, ranking them together, what would the top 5 wins be? i dont see how toney ends up with more than the jirov win there, and it's very arguable about it being #1

1. Briedis
2. Gassiev
3. Jirov
4. Glowacki
5. Hunter / Bellew

Huck worths a mention, but he was past it.

Gassiev beat Lebedev, Dorticos, past prime Wlodarczyk. Briedis beat Glowacki, Dorticos, Perez, past prime Huck. All those wins together are clearly better than Toney's one over Jirov, who won the likes of Letterlough and Castro for his belt.

if only usyk had beaten the likes of terry mcgroom, michael rush, courntey butler, and sione asipeli -- the '10 round fighters' from the amazing era of c- level fringe american cruiserweights-- instead of actually beating other top world cruiser champs and contenders

my gawd, seriously man, please name a half meaningful win any of those guys have

and of course its not even true that toney fought more 10 round fighters at cw, unless you exclude all the world class 12 round fighters usyk fought. if you really mean to say that toney fought fewer championship level fighters, then youre right :TU:

this is reaching even for your standards alpy my man

There was Floyd Patterson and Jimmy Ellis who both fought before there was a Cruiserweight Division. Those are two boxers who the Cruiserweight Division seemed to be created for. As a matter of fact, Patterson and Ellis only lost to bigger fighters when they fought as heavyweights.

Usyk has fought 12 fights when he was with 200 pounds. 11 when I made my original comment. Toney made more than that.
Toney had the Jirov fight; which is a little more memorable than all of Usyk's classics.

When can't count those. They came before some people became interested in the sport; which is when the boxing history begins for some people.

Toney had 9 fights in his actual cruiser run to the title. and please do tell, out of all his cruiser fights aside from jirov, what wins were worth a damn

as for memorable, LOL. Now you're rating by entertainment? you sure are consistent aren't you

as i said, why don't you do a combined top 5 of their best cruiser wins? very interested to see the mental gymnastics you'd perform to get your ranking there

i dont understand alp, i thought it was about fighters challenging themselves and fighting the best available? and a guy comes along and does that, and you still come out with embarassing nonsense about c level '10 round fighters' and entertainment level to discredit him

ya, because toney's cruiser fights were centuries ago, not like he won his title in the 2000s lol

and maybe pat and jim aren't ranked in the top 10 cruisers because they never fought as cruisers for one thing

Umn no. Jirov-Toney was a great fight. Not just fight with a lot of action.

Love your new criteria:
Toney had only 9 fights in his" run" to the cruiserweight title?
Ok, how many did Usyk have? The answer is less than 9.

Love how David Haye is #4 on your list. David Haye's name comes up, yet again. Your obsession with him continues. Is a relative or something?

Gassiev, Brieies, Haye all higher than Toney, De Leon, Qawi, Jirov just make it. Yeah, no bias there.
Funny how everything got so much better when you became a fan.

Who can be higher than Haye and why? Toney had only Jirov, who beat nobodies. Haye beat Mormeck, who beat Bell and Braithwaite. No obsession of Haye needed to acknowledge that he's a one of the best cruisers ever. Damn Fragomeni and Maccarinelli were better, than the bums of Toney.

Why Gassiev and Briedis shouldn't be higher than Toney? Actually, I've already told ya why they should, while you simply continue with your delirious theses instead of arguments, based on evidence.

Your evidence was in "more memorable". That's f*cking laughable. You're a total jester.

F*ck evidence, better show me some new tricks, Ambling Bozo.

I agree that Haye beat some professional fighters. Good for him. Truly a legend.
How come Carl Thompson didn't make it? :D

Nice try, Bozo, but, unfortunetely for ya, his career wasn't over after Thompson, while those professional fighters somehow appeared to be better than the murderers' row in records of Toney and Jirov.

not new criteria at all my man, toney was done after he won the title, 0 defenses or unification. he had 1 cruiser run and it was made up of 9 fights, that's it. usyk, the guy supposedly without the depth, won 7 world title fights alone and stuck around to defend and to clean out the division. :TU: what other cruiser fights did toney have of any significance?

and you still wont answer: why don't you rank their top 5 combined cruiser wins? you can pick from all of those great toney wins over '10 round fighters'! so much depth !

why you continually ducking bruh, your refusal to answer is deafening :yay:

:TU: Not the deepest resume, but other than Usyk, who really has one at cw.
