George Foreman without his power?
I mean his boxing skills were really limited. He was slow as a diesel truck and his style did really get on my nerves, with the little push, jab and push, jab and push, punch and push, and he got away with that, and in my opinion that is something similar to John Ruiz punch and hug, punch and hug. Would George Foreman be an old time great without his power?

Of course he wouldn’t be an all time great without his power. He’d be a smaller tougher Vitali Klitschko!borinken25 wrote:I mean his boxing skills were really limited. Re: George Foreman without his power?
The reason why I ask is because very few heavyweights without power have achieved greatness like for example Ali and Holyfield. Most heavyweight greats have had plenty of power (Frazier, Liston, Tyson, Marciano) just to name a few, but all of them in my opinion did have better boxing skills than Foreman. Foreman boxing skills in my opinion is one of the worst ever for a heavyweight champion and that is including John Ruiz. Could he have defeated fighters like Norton, Frazier or Lyle relying only on his boxing skills?pundit wrote:Muhammad Ali without arms and legs?![]()
Ali knocked outDecagon wrote:Ali knocked out Foreman, Frazier, Liston, Quarry, Bonavena, Ellis and Lyle.
Foreman--That was the fight with the loosened ropes and the 9 second ten count from Zack Clayton. Foreman was so out of shape he was tired before three rounds were over.
Frazier---Eddie Futch betrayed his own fighter and gave human punching bag Ali the win. That was no "knockout" for Ali.
In comparison Frazier knocked Ali flat on his back and beat Ali thoroughly.
Ali never scored a knockdown against Frazier in the 41 rounds they fought.
Liston---FAKES
Quarry I---Quarry had a cut just below his hairline---ONLY a butt can cause such a cut.
Bonavena---The so-called referee let Ali foul like mad in the first round and then TOOK THE ROUND AWAY FROM BONAVENA on a foul.
The referee did not make Ali go to a nuetral corner when Bonavena was down from a forearm smash to the face in the final round
EVERYTHING the so-called referee did in that fight stunk to high heavens.
Ellis---Ellis was barred from fighting in many locales at that time because of his failing eyesight.
Lyle---Disputed ending. Ali lost every round before the disputed ending.
NORTON---In the three fights Ali still hasn't beaten Norton.
WHERE WAS THE KNOCKOUT?
YOUNG--Ali didn't win a round
WHERE WAS THE KNOCKOUT?
Leon Spinks--Ali lost to a novice
WHERE WAS THE KNOCKOUT?
Doug Jones---Ali took a beating from a fighter 25 pounds lighter than he was.
WHERE WAS THE KNOCKOUT?
Henry Cooper--Ali got knocked down by a fighter 25 pounds lighter than he was.

Listen you piece of shit you are the only motherfucker in here. Didn't your mother teach you any manners? Where were you raised? If you want to disagree, do it with respect. Maybe you were raised a low life and want to drag everyone to your level. For me Foreman didn't have no boxing skills, he did have a great jab but that was it. Ali compare to Shavers, Tyson, Frazier, Liston and many others had no power. If you want to talk boxing do it but if you don’t like people’s opinions then don’t answer with your ignorant and out of line replies.Decagon wrote:Ali knocked out Foreman, Frazier, Liston, Quarry, Bonavena, Ellis and Lyle. He stopped nearly every top heavyweight he faced in his prime. Don't pretend that he had feathers in his gloves, because he fucking didn't. He didn't always sit down on his punches because he was too busy floating. He could punch!
And shit, motherfucker. Foreman not having skills? You're just not good at noticing what those skills are. Offensive footwork, planting his feet, the cross-arm defense, an incredible ability to maintain range, one of the best jabs in the history of the heavyweight division, a clinch defense (imagine how good Tyson would've been if he'd developed one), body work and speed differentiation. You think that power comes out of thin air? It takes a hell of a lot of training and a hell of a lot of technique to hit the way Foreman did.

Maybe wrong for you, but this is opinion based forum and that’s it. Foreman had no boxing skills outside his jab. His rely only on his power. He kept his hands too low, was slow as hell and didn’t move out the way many times. Lyle had him hurt so many times and in my opinion Foreman was saved by the bell, I don’t recall exactly what round but I remember clearly him being saved by the bell. What skills you are taking about, his only skills were his power and his jab. His power saved him many times. And that was a more civilized way to reply thank you.Decagon wrote:You think you're going to get a pass around here saying that Foreman wasn't as skilled as John Ruiz? Wrong.

granberry we offer comfort and solice to unusual and exotic points of view in this forum. We're glad your here! pull up a chair and remember these enlightened words.....listen deep to the wisdom of the wise counsel gathered around you. A viewpoint will never be a static thing as long as one's mind is truly focused on the hunt for greater awarenes. Good luck in your quest.
I have to ask in the case of Robinson, Ali, Louis, Armstrong, Duran etc that in these cases the "hype" may simply be that they do stand above the crowd of talent in ways that keep people in awe.
It may not be a bullshit bandwagon......are you suggesting that so many critics have it wrong for so long? Or just that it is boring to repeat the same "disoveries" over and over.
