Where do you put Josh Taylor in the P4P?
Where do you put Josh Taylor in the P4P?
The Ring have got him #5 and Boxrec #21 in their P4P rankings,
That's obviously a big difference and the 'real answer' is likely somewhere between the two for most of us. He's above Spence and Lopez in the ring rankings, yet behind Callum Smith and Porter in the Boxrec list.
So where would you put him currently?

Nowhere because it’s not real and makes no sense.
Re: Where do you put Josh Taylor in the P4P?
He should be in the top 10 absolutely but we’ve seen nowhere near the best of him.
The more the opponent shows him, the more he produces.
Was almost sad to see him coast, apparently on instruction, after dropping the fierce Ramirez twice.

It’ll cost Taylor sooner or later if he just coasts. Nearly cost Fury in the first Wilder fight - Fury’s instinct was to attack after going down at end, had he gone back to his corner he may of been instructed to run and do this and that technical baloney.
Remember Manny Steward instructing between rounds Lennox to just basically go in and beat the fornicate out of Tyson and Vitali. it worked.

All I know is that Canelo looks like the most consistent all around fighter around to me.

Re: Where do you put Josh Taylor in the P4P?
Boxrec rankings have been cooked lately. Id have him 2-8th ish. 1 is canelo, but trying to order guys like teo, spence, craw, taylor, usyk, inoue, Fury, AJ... i cant do it.
Re: Where do you put Josh Taylor in the P4P?
It all depends whether you rank on resume or perceived talent.
In terms of resume there’s no way you can have Crawford above him. Postol is Crawford’s best win where as he’s a distant 3rd best win for Taylor.
I’d be going something like
Canelo
Inoue
Usyk
Spence
Taylor
Lopez
Crawford
I’m probably forgetting someone.

Can’t put Usyk above Loma.

Seeing as you think P4P is "not real and makes no sense", it makes no sense to argue about what rankings Usyk and Loma should respectively occupy

I’m not getting into childish games.
But Usyk is basically a poor mans Loma at heavier weights.

It is just a bit odd that 5 out of the 12 posts on this thread are you posting on a topic you say is meaningless and makes no sense.coghaugen11 wrote: ↑03 Jul 2021, 11:59 I’m not getting into childish games.

But setting that to one side, I agree, he's excellent, but he's no Loma in the skills stakes.

Defo top ten. Eyetest, he's below lopez, tank, garcia, stevenson but achievements the boy has unified in a shit hot division after, what, 20 fights.
I reckon prograis will continue to solidify josh's achievements. He's a hard out for anyone 135 to 147.
Taylors one glamour night away from HoF.
7 or 8 pound for pound.

agree with most of that but eye test he's above garcia right now for me

Mikey Garcia? I'm surprised he's still on the list at all.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑03 Jul 2021, 18:55 agree with most of that but eye test he's above garcia right now for me

Gotta be above tank for me. Tank looks better, but thats because of who tanks in with. i cant back tank on p4p till he gets a real win with no "but he was small", "but he was old" or "but he isnt great". His last win that really had no astrix next to it was pedrosa, and even then it had a baby astrix because i think 130 pedrosa is frail but i think thats just me personaly...Bigdogsnose wrote: ↑03 Jul 2021, 18:43 Defo top ten. I'd agree. Tank hasn't got the resume to be above Taylor. He might have the talent to one day go higher, but remains to be seen.gregregegg wrote: ↑03 Jul 2021, 19:28Gotta be above tank for me. For me, Tank just fought at 140, if Taylor was up next i'd take josh to man handle him.
Ennis and Stevenson are the most talented fighters out there, both future p4p stars but Taylors the one who is doing it.

The Specsavers kilo4kilo boxing rankings official list.
Re: Where do you put Josh Taylor in the P4P?
Tank shouldn't be any where near the top 10, hasn't even fought a champion yet.

Re: Where do you put Josh Taylor in the P4P?
barrios and leo held secondary titles but pedraza was ibf full champ
considering the style in which he's won, his opposition is good enough to get him p4p for me, but that said he's clearly lacking an elite fighter on his resume. i want him to stop jumping weight divisions to cherry pick, and instead settle down somewhere and fight someone who is at least top 3

These rankings mean sod all.
He’s #1 at 140 and he needs to concentrate on that for 24 months then move up and try to get that #1 at welter when the likes of Crawford and Spence have gone.
Taylor vs. Pacquiao, 15th September 2023 is what I’m thinking.
