His elder brother Neil is also worth a mention because it was Neil who finally made a successful first defence of the British super-featherweight title after a whole sequence of champions, including Pat Cowdell, Floyd Havard and Najib Daho, all lost the title in their first defence. Southpaw Neil stopped Manchester stylist Steve Walker in seven rounds in that first defence. I was convinced that the talented Walker would keep the run going but Haddock proved too good.

The British Super featherweight title first defence jinx ! I remember it well.
Yep, the unsung Neil Haddock wasn't the obvious candidate to snap the curse when quality champions like Pat Cowdell and Floyd Harvard had failed.
