This could push a unification bout back a year or more.

Wonder what impact it will have on the other fights. Wasn't Jared and Efe in Fury's camp?

You would think pro athletes would be a little more careful about this shit. It you rely on your fitness for your livelihood a respiratory disease like COVID can derail your career.

Why would they need to postpone it any further than a month tops?

TV scheduling, availability of the venue, training requirements and sparring partners etc.

Ya, at this rate we'll never get to see what would happen if Fury and Wilder ever fought :verysad:

IDK. What if someone directly involved gets the virus; venue scheduling issues... :maybe:

Could be just a bunch of hype and they're using covid as a marketing tool.

Wilder and his team seem to think it's a ploy to get them to ease up on their training.

I've not heard their reaction to this news but it sounds like both sides might be playing this one up a bit.
Could even be used as an excuse should one of them lose too ;-)

I think this is just rubbish created by the Fury camp to mess with Wilder and his team a bit and I personally find it very comical

I know if I was Deontay Wilder and I got rocked with a good punch in the first round, you can bet the house that I'll be starting to sneeze in the 2nd round.

POSTPONED: COVID Virus Threatens Fury/Wilder III

Post by oogiebe »

Boxing Seen Dot Com:
The cause of the coronavirus outbreak in Tyson Fury’s camp appears to have been identified, though proving far more damaging than previously reported.

Multiple sources have informed BS.com that Fury himself was among those who have tested positive for Covid-19, along with at least seven other members of his camp. The development has ruined plans for a scheduled trilogy bout with Deontay Wilder, which was due to take place July 24 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

“I was shocked,” John Fury stated while speaking at a dinner Thursday evening in Northampton, England. “You don’t want these things to happen. It is off.

“Apparently one of the sparring partners brought it in. He’s infected the full team. These things happen in life. He will have to reschedule.”
Doesn't look good folks.
