Re: What's Happening With Ronnie Clark?
Im sure it will be plastered all over this forum whenever it is - closely followed by a couple of over defensive posters

I predict a 15 pager which resembles the script of a Guy Ritchie movie

Re: What's Happening With Ronnie Clark?
Hes recovering from a broken neck. He had his latest scan and the neck has healed but hes been told another 2 months for nerves. Hes back running etc. He will be mandatory when hes fit so that fight will happen and we will see . The Sam that beat Jordan mccorry would have been stopped. We just like to wind people up we dont actually care. Boxing is all politics and bull. We have seen how it works so dont feel need to hate people we dont know. Is dundonians are very argumentative

For someone who puts out press releases and polls for every fight going, I'm surprised you don't know who he is!

Can’t believe he didn’t take the Barrett rematch.

Re: What's Happening With Ronnie Clark?
lost a decision in khaz
Re: What's Happening With Ronnie Clark?
Fair decision ?
Done well to go the distance - glad he's over his injury problems
Re: What's Happening With Ronnie Clark?
The scorecards were wild as usual. Every round was close I had Zaurbek winning by 1-2 rounds. Good performance from Ronnie considering best part of 4 years out of the ring to go over to Kazakhstan and fight a guy they think is going all the way. Bit bitter sweet very proud of Ronnie for jumping right in the deep end and showing what a real fighter he is. Part of me wishes he took a tune up fight but then that wouldn’t be the shark

And yeah, going the distance in Kazakhstan is a great result after the break.

Re: What's Happening With Ronnie Clark?
no way was it only a 1 point fight, ronnie was 'in' most of the rounds but didnt win very many, 98-92 for me.......100-90 doesnt reflect how competitive it was, but i dont think ronnie clearly won any round, it was very ronnie-ish in that you could see he's a solid fighter and had his moments, but did not do enough to get over the line
ronnie wouldve been interesting if he'd been pushed as an a-side fighter and had been kept more busy at a younger age. i get the sense with him that there was another 20 percent in him that never got applied

Re: What's Happening With Ronnie Clark?
Shame his career didn’t reflect how good a fighter he could be. Hardy bastard for sure.
Re: What's Happening With Ronnie Clark?
I get what your saying. I score fights without hype and any bias. Boxing scoring is subjective. I scored on shots landed. I felt Ronnie connected with more shots throughout the fight but Zaurbek had the better looking shots. For example the last round Ronnie hurt Zaurbek a few times and was dominating for around 2 and a half minutes the Zaurbek hit with a great body shot. That’s what you remember about that round but really it should of been a Clark round. Close fight like I said away from home only arriving in Kazakhstan a few days ago. You don’t travel half way around the world and arrive 3 days before a fight against a fighter like Zaurbek. There should be rules if travelling for these kind of fights that you have to be there 10 days before a fight minimum and training facilities should be provided. Safety of boxers is really important. How many boxers in Ronald position would travel to take a fight like that on only a 4 week camp?? He deserves a promoter to take a chance on himmargaret thatcher wrote: ↑10 Jul 2021, 20:37 no way was it only a 1 point fight, ronnie was 'in' most of the rounds but didnt win very many, 98-92 for me.......100-90 doesnt reflect how competitive it was, but i dont think ronnie clearly won any round, it was very ronnie-ish in that you could see he's a solid fighter and had his moments, but did not do enough to get over the line

36 years old. Good Brittish level boxer but for promoters there's not enough there to invest in. If did really get opps after the Barrett win he won't get any going forward. To come off the layoff and to fight prospects shows he future is as a B-side he just got to make the most out of this.daviddee wrote: ↑11 Jul 2021, 04:19I get what your saying. Re: What's Happening With Ronnie Clark?
He didn't make the most of the Barrett win. Looking at how Barrett performed afterwards, it doesn't look like such a good win now. He lost this fight in Kazak very clearly. no way he just lost by one or two points.
Re: What's Happening With Ronnie Clark?
Only a small number of fighters are looked after by a promoter and even less if they have the odd slip up whether it is in the ring, emotionally or legally.daviddee wrote: ↑11 Jul 2021, 04:19I get what your saying. And very few fighters ever get 4 weeks notice for a fight even Canelo's opponents.
And also how many fighters can afford to take 10 days off work to take a fight, in reality 10 days off without pay takes a big chunk out of your purse.
This is the life of a boxer in the away corner. It was typical for me to do a day's work, drive to the fight after work, fight, drive home and work the next day.
For longer trips you would only have enough time to dump your bag in the house have a shower and then start work again.
I remember once working a Friday night, flying to Malta in the morning, fighting that night and flying home the next day to work Sunday night.
The promoter was happy to put me up for the week and wanted me to come out early but I didn't want to miss out on work.

Re: What's Happening With Ronnie Clark?
Just realised I wrote this 2 years ago, was about to write the same thing again! Honestly, it never made sense at the time and makes even less sense in hindsight. I know there was concerns about the contract or something, but it can’t have possibly been any worse than the way Ronnie’s career has played out since. Just such a waste, the Barrett win should have been a real springboard.
