apollo creed wrote: ↑14 Jul 2021, 01:56As long as Lara got Canelo and Trout at that time when Andrade was a champion too at 154 then it must be something off with him.
During a four-year nine-month timeframe (between February 2013 and October 2017, when Boo Boo was competing as a world-rated 154lb-er), Demetrius Andrade fought:
Vanes Martirosyan; Brian Rose; Dario Fabian Pucheta; Willie Nelson; and Jack Culcay.
During the equivalent timespan, Canelo fought:
Austin Trout; Floyd Mayweather Jr.; Alfredo Angulo; Erislandy Lara; James Kirkland; Miguel Cotto; Amir Khan; Liam Smith; Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.; and Gennadiy Golovkin.
And you seriously feel that Canelo ducked Andrade? Please tell me that's what you seriously believe?
After getting shut out by Floyd, Canelo fought Kirkland, Lara, Angulo, Khan, Liam Smith, JCC jr. Angulo and Kirkland had to shed 40lbs each, and were tailor made for him. Average guys. Lara arguably won the fight, out-landing Canelo, embarassing him at times, but the mexican judge crazy score of 118-110 or 117-110 gave the nod to Canelo. Should have been a rematch. Amir Khan, a glass jawed welterweight instead of Andrade? Come on man. A washed Cotto gave him a good fight, but at 35 was past it. Andrade was stripped, and Canelo then jumped to face Liam Smith, then vacated the belt to "avoid deadlines"? negotiating for GGG. A year and a half later after GGG looked vulnerable vs Jacobs, he fought him. JCCjr? another average fighter, tailor made for Canelo. Austin Trout also gave Canelo all he wanted, and also warranted a rematch. Open scoring or some BS was a bad deal for that one too.
So yeah, I won't say ducked, but definitely avoided Andrade, who had a belt at 154 and 160, and Canelo took on other guys much less talented than Andrade, excluding GGG, who was past his best by the time they fought.
Are you seriously criticising Canelo for facing much higher-ranked fighters between 2013 and 2015 at 154lbs than Demetrius Andrade?
It seems you need a history lesson.
Trout and Lara were both considered the third best 154lb-ers on the planet, only behind Mayweather Jr. and Canelo, at the time of their bouts against the Mexican.
Canelo fought Austin Trout seven months prior to Demetrius Andrade capturing his WBO 154lbs title.
Canelo fought Floyd Maywweather Jr. two months prior to Demetrius Andrade capturing his WBO 154lbs title.
Canelo fought Erislandy Lara one month after Andrade’s one and only WBO title defence against Brian Rose.
Demetrius Andrade then rejected a career-high payday to fight Jermell Charlo during December 2014.
Another attempt was performed to make that fight for Spring 2015, with Andrade accepting another career-high payday and also signing a contract in January 2015 to defend his WBO title against Jermell Charlo, but Boo Boo withdrew from that fight at the last-minute. It’s important to note Andrade’s late withdrawal wasn’t injury related.
During July 2015, Demetrius Andrade was stripped of his WBO 154lbs title, because he’d ducked Jermell Charlo twice, hadn’t fought for 14 months and didn’t even have a fight lined up.
Andrade then chose to be inactive and whenever he did compete, he ended up facing anonymous no-hopers, such as: Dario Fabian Pucheta, Willie Nelson and Jack Culcay.
During the same timeframe, Canelo fought James Kirkland, Miguel Cotto, Amir Khan, Liam Smith and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
Canelo receives a lot of criticism for the Liam Smith fight, but when the Mexican challenged for the Brit’s WBO 154lbs title, Andrade was merely a challenger rated 6th, with Boo Boo competing against journeymen.
And if you only want to discuss Andrade's time as being a world-rated 154lb-er, I'll just cite the same facts:

If you want to move the goalposts to only consider Andrade's time at middleweight, I'm happy to do that too, because I've already discussed this matter and can simply copy/paste the same set of facts.
