Clint Jackson vs Davey Moore

Post by zuru »

15 rds Jr Middleweight
I remember when I first read about Davey Moore. After only a few fights(7?) he's sent off to Japan to basically retrieve the WBA title and more or less deliver it to Weir by losing.
He surprised by beating both and defending it showing good potential.
(Years later I was a little disappointed when I finally saw those initial fights, but was more impressed by his wins over Kalule & Guiden).
He was never the same after Duran.

BUT, this is in his prime before Duran.

Jackson was a tough skilled fighter. He could box and slug and had some skills.

I think Moore had great heart. And he couldn't "not slug" when invited to.
I think Jackson could win some early rounds but as time goes on I can see Moore eating punches but starting to really go all out swelling his eyes and battering him to a tko after the 12th round.

Jackson was pretty tough, (I remember his fight with Animal Fletcher being an example) and Moore before Duran was a destroyer, so TKO10 sounds about right

Moore by 8th round TKO. Jackson a huge disappointment at the pro level.
