This is the sport of boxling run by crooked promoters, family businesses such as the wba, wbc, boxrec etc. It doesn't matter that much how good a fighter is, if he doesn't generate money for the company then he isn't going to get any shots.
Re: Arslanbek makhmudov a HeavyWeight talent going to Waste
Mak is the type of fighter I just like to watch regardless of his opponent. He's the quintessential 'beast man.'
Re: Arslanbek makhmudov a HeavyWeight talent going to Waste
Is he still based in Canada? There's a good little community of heavyweights there. Oscar Rivas would probably be a bit too ambitious after so few pro fights and probably wouldn't be interested anyway. Simon Kean might be well advised to steer clear. He's already despached former Canadian champion Dillon Carman in one round.
The fight I'd like for him next is "Monster Mel" Mladen Miljas but this is a fight I wouldn't expect to happen. Not enough money to justify the risk for either of them, but you never know. I didn't think Joyce v Dubois made sense either, but it went ahead anyway.

I like the landscape of HW's in Canada. Interesting; diverse types; mostly borderline up and comers; couple of guys who could be top 15/20. Kean; Mak; Rivas; Miljas, yeah, and also Carmen is still a good test for an up and comer. Albanian Kristian Prenga is fighting out of Canada now too, he's not terrible.

Yeah i liked Adam Braidwood too. All action, no nonsense type that would present a few obstacles to most opponents without having the quality to progress. I'm not sure whether he's packed it in completely or whether it's just a sustained period of inactivity.
Re: Arslanbek makhmudov a HeavyWeight talent going to Waste
Def. forgot about Braidwood.
Re: Arslanbek makhmudov a HeavyWeight talent going to Waste
Looking at his inactivity I think Braidwood did too. ![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

They're fighting at the Holiday Inn in Cuernavaca.
The tan/yellow building in the background is honest to god the Holiday Inn. LOL they must have set up the ring out in back.
Re: Arslanbek makhmudov a HeavyWeight talent going to Waste
The U.K. television networks certainly “hyped” Dubois. But I was really surprised his team / promoter bought into it so much they put him in with Joyce.Boxtune wrote: ↑12 Feb 2021, 10:16Dubois was not great and he is not in the same bracket as Makhmudov a full grown man.DrDuke wrote: ↑12 Feb 2021, 10:03 It's impossible to judge, how good he or his chin is, after he has faced only tomato cans. Yes, he punches hard, but we have just witnessed Dubois being overhyped and outclassed.
Talking about promotion, yes, it's not the best, as the guy already needs to step up, what he's obviously isn't doing.
He was hyped only by UK Fans because supposedly being a upcoming young British prospect.
And now because Joyce beat him, all of sudden Joyce has been hyped up, who was not getting any credit before, and wasn't supposed to last more than few rounds.
A lot fancied Dubois to win, but only because of attention he’d been getting knocking everyone out.
Anyone who took a step back saw putting a 22 year old who’d only gone past 5 rounds once and had virtually no senior amateur fights in with a 34 year old who, achievement wise, was one of the UKs best super heavyweight amateur boxers of all time (questionably robbed of Olympic gold in the process) was a bad move.
As an adult Dubois had never demonstrated a plan B if marauding forwards didn’t work.
Had he remained amateur he wouldve been training for a place in the Tokyo Olympics.
His future depends on how, at 23, he bounces back from the loss, what he learns, and how he’s handled.
Re: Arslanbek makhmudov a HeavyWeight talent going to Waste
Joyce will have a tougher time with Takam than people think but will get the win.
Personally Don’t see him beating second tier heavyweights though.

Re: Arslanbek makhmudov a HeavyWeight talent going to Waste
Personally I put Fury Wilder and Joshua in tier 1
Off the top of my head Usyk, Whyte, Parker, Ruiz (if he’s on point) tier 2
Ortiz and Povetkin were there but I think they’re probably over the hill and heading down the other side of it now. At 40 and off heavy defeat Pulev probably in this formerly tier 2 but now over the hill bracket too.

Re: Arslanbek makhmudov a HeavyWeight talent going to Waste
Would’ve been interesting to see Joyce v Chisora instead of Takam - but obviously Del Boy has just had 2 disappointing defeats against Usyk and Parker after giving his all.

Re: Arslanbek makhmudov a HeavyWeight talent going to Waste
those 2nd tier guys would be competiviely matched fights i think . could defo see him beating the likes of parker, hell i thought del already did. ruiz mostly has been unimpressive and could see that too. at that level losses wouldnt surprise me either though
