WBC DIamond Heavyweight title vacant
Hi,
does anyone know since when the WBC DIamond Heavyweight title is vacant again?
Povetkin won the WBC Diamond and interim title against Whyte 2020.
In the second fight (March 2021) Povetkin lost the interim title to Whyte again but the Diamond title wasn't on the line.
So when, why and how has Povetkin "lost" the Diamond title? Was he stripped by the WBC, did he vacate it or what?
Hope somebody got answers to that, thanks in advance

The World Boxing Council confirmed previously that the winner of the rematch will be awarded the WBC Diamond belt, and they also assured that if Dillian Whyte prevails, he will be ratified as the official challenger to face their champion Tyson Fury.

Hi,
exactly, it was announced that the WBC Diamond title will be on the line in the second fight, but in fact it wasn't.
Whyte won and didn't get the Diamond belt, so what happened? Was Povetkin still the Diamond champ in the second fight or was he "stripped" before, how and when did that title get vacant?

David Diamante definitely announced Dillian Whyte as “the new WBC diamond and WBC interim heavyweight champion of the world” immediately after beating Povetkin.
Dillian Whyte seemed frustrated about not receiving the WBC diamond belt during his post-fight interview with Sky Sports.
There’s also no mention of the diamond belt (for any weight division) in the WBC’s current rankings. For instance: Errol Spence Jr. captured the WBC diamond strap during his most recent outing when he beat Danny Garcia.
So we don't know if it's vacant.

Diamond is like a one off belt. You win it and keep it. Unless promoters want to use it to add to a fight that a belt is at stake..?Enlightened-One wrote: ↑20 Jul 2021, 09:12I actually have no idea.danundisputed wrote: ↑20 Jul 2021, 08:32 Hi,

You’re right, it’s a garbage trinket.
However, talksport quoted the WBC’s rules, which apparently claimed the belt can be “defended”, but I honestly have no idea about the intended purpose of this nonsense title.

You have 23 hours to find out the intended purpose of this nonsense title

Exactly what I was thinking. Talking about it gives it a respectability it doesn't deserve. It's only by the alphabet orgs realizing that nobody gives a sh1t, will they stop with this conveyor-belt of meaningless trinkets that serve to devalue the sport and confuse the hell out of potential new fans of boxing and kill their interest.

Dillian Whyte might perceive the WBC's titles a bit like properties in a game of Monopoly, so far he's captured the WBC international, silver, interim and diamond straps.candyslim wrote: ↑21 Jul 2021, 04:52Exactly what I was thinking. He only needs to capture the world, franchise, recess, eternal, honorary, emeritus and supreme titles to own the entire set.
And then he’ll probably try to capture all their one-off one-fight commemorative straps too.
For the record, I didn't make up the names of those belts, they're all "legit" titles the WBC have actually awarded to fighters!

Not even a couple of diamonds on there?
When the association of having the belt is worthless at least provide some instrinsic value to the actual belt, in my opinion

You are thinking of the WBC Money belt that Mauricio Sulaiman claimed was studded with " 3,360 diamonds, 600 sapphires, 300 emeralds and 1.5 kilograms of solid, 24-karat gold."Bard of Boxrec wrote: ↑21 Jul 2021, 08:05 Not even a couple of diamonds on there?

I wouldn’t mind owning that trinket !
They should just fornicate off these titles and have them fight for an array of valuable concerns like lighthouses or quarries

The downside is he'd be paying 110% of his earnings on sanctioning fees.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑21 Jul 2021, 05:10Dillian Whyte might perceive the WBC's titles a bit like properties in a game of Monopoly, so far he's captured the WBC international, silver, interim and diamond straps.candyslim wrote: ↑21 Jul 2021, 04:52Exactly what I was thinking. I wouldn't have a clue who the WBC Diamond HW trinket holder is, or if it was vacant or in Riddick Bowe's dustbin & I consider myself to be an avid watcher of the sport.
If it came up as a quiz question, I'd probably say it Drederick Tatum was the holder.
