He usually does a competition for tickets. I think all you have to do is enter as I've won three times out of three!maverick23 wrote: ↑19 Jul 2021, 11:59Just listened to an interview with him. Apparently they’re set up for 6,000 there (due to Covid which I think is BS given the rules now) which he expects to sell. Loads of tickets seem to be available still.
Will be interesting to see how many do go to it.

yea i think thats what were missing most these exciting 50/50 up and coming domestic fights lately
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Carlos Takam - 24 July 2021
Just watched the press conference. Joyce appears to be getting used to public speaking: I mean, he's not great but he can actually string a sentence together and was able to get through the questions without that noticeable thought block that he used to get: he was actually quite funny. Warren always has to interrupt him. He reminds me of my Dad, Fwank. A miserable old sod! Sam Jones seems to really relish winding up Carlos Takam. I thought the face off was interesting: Takam very much dwarfed by Joyce who looked stony faced until they faced away to pose for the photographers and Joyce gave him a look that you wouldn't really want to receive from such a big bloke and after that Takam looked quite almost miserable and did a lot of blinking. Back to his laughing and smiling for the interviews straight after, though.
For those who don't really care you missed nothing. Two polite likeable lads who won't be lobbing tables at each other.

should be a decent workout for JJ until he goes for the KO , Takam has fallen short every time against top fighters and got stopped hes all hot air speaking of which I predict he will be blowing after a few rounds anyway .
last big payday for him .

I’ve always liked Joyce. He’s likeable, has a good story. He’s different from the average heavyweight meathead and despite his lack of speed he’s a very good fighter and boxer. He has that slight sense of autism about him that always warms me to people.Cyclops wrote: ↑23 Jul 2021, 10:33 Just watched the press conference. Joyce weighed 263¾ pounds.
He officially weighed 258¾ pounds against Dubois. 5 pounds heavier.
Takam came in at 248½ pounds.
Joyce’s weight has never really been issue. He fights the same way no matter what he weighs really.

So this will not be on ESPN+ in the US.
Will be on FITE. $12.99
Not that I think anyone in the US is bothered about this.

Definitely its no stretch to say they have similar traits, thats why I'd love to see Joyce in with a Joshua, Fury, Wilder, Whyte, Ruiz etc, apart from maybe Fury i can def envision some sort of Foreman/Moorer situation, its also fairly easy to see him either comprehensively outboxed or stopped on his feetlittlepug wrote: ↑23 Jul 2021, 16:55Yeah me too, there’s something a bit George Foremany about him that appealshandsofstone wrote: ↑23 Jul 2021, 16:47 Ive got to say Joyce is one my favs to watch, no frills, just plods away but keeps getting job done, still slow, still easy to hit ,still getting solid guys out of there, im desperate to see how he fares against a top 5 Heavy

carlos's real name is armand, i wonder why he uses carlos instead, armand sounds classy and regal
and man what a unit joe is, 6'6 and still with good definition at 264, it's not manufactured 'lifting a sh!tload of weights' size either, as genuine of a shw as pretty much anyone out there

The extra weight could be a combination of drinking more water as it’s hot and a big meal. Or he could be carrying extra body fat into this fight. In terms of muscle, at his age has a newbie gains years are well behind him. You’d only be able to gain that sort of extra muscle with a decent PED program. You’d have to wonder if there are really many international standard heavyweights not taking special supplements for size, strength and recovery reasons.

If I’m thinking about peds my mind goes to the 40 year old that’s 6 foot, 240lb with a fornicating 8 pack… no big joe putting on 2% of his body weight in a year.polecateddy wrote: ↑23 Jul 2021, 19:05 The extra weight could be a combination of drinking more water as it’s hot and a big meal. Ive been watching a shitload of 80s Heavyweights lately im inclined to think that 101% were on some sort of roid

I’m a big fan of Joe Joyce too. Seen him live a few times as an amateur, in the WSB and as a pro. He just goes about his job, no frills but gets the job done.littlepug wrote: ↑23 Jul 2021, 16:55Yeah me too, there’s something a bit George Foremany about him that appealshandsofstone wrote: ↑23 Jul 2021, 16:47 Ive got to say Joyce is one my favs to watch, no frills, just plods away but keeps getting job done, still slow, still easy to hit ,still getting solid guys out of there, im desperate to see how he fares against a top 5 Heavy
Hard to believe that some saw him as cannon fodder for Dubois.

Joyce looks in very good Nick. 5lbs is virtually nothing. When he comes in heavy he’s 270 as he was vs Walish.
Takam looks an absolute tank as always. 2 blokes who clearly don’t f uck about in training.

Just read the interview with Chris Jenkins in Boxing News. I feel sorry for the bloke - he must be gutted that FW wouldn’t let him accept the Benn offer which he and his team said was for really good money.
All he wants to do is have his own house yet hasn’t fought for nearly 2 years, missed out on a good payday and has had to do odds jobs (cleaning, washing cars, cleaning windows) to survive. It’s good that he’s a hard worker and was able to do that but as a British champion aligned to one of Britain’s top promoters he shouldn’t have to.

Its disgusting by frank if true. I assumed it was the case from the start, he had a chance to fight connor when connor was raw enough that he was a real chance, yet name enough to get paid, it seemed him and his team wanted it. Promoters fornicating over there own fighters is one of the worst things in boxing.maverick23 wrote: ↑24 Jul 2021, 04:02 Just read the interview with Chris Jenkins in Boxing News. Yeah. He didn’t call Frank out in the article. Just said they let it go to purse bids and Benn pulled out. Which is true because they wanted to get him out quickly which they did with Formella.gregregegg wrote: ↑24 Jul 2021, 05:52Its disgusting by frank if true. There were loads of interviews at the time with him/his management where they said they were happy with the offer.
The promoter should work for the boxer. Jenkins has had minimal publicity for his fight tonight whilst a fight with Benn would have generated plenty of press, it would have been competitive on paper (in hindsight I think Benn would win by stoppage but I didn’t think that when the fight was first discussed) and he would have had enough cash for a mortgage deposit.
Either way a British champ shouldn’t need to wash cars to support his family. It’s a title that 90% of British boxers would love to win so he shouldn’t be short of good competitive fights.
