Gassiev looks terrible. Lost every round. Round 4 now. Starting to throw. Wallisch looks fairly good first 3 rounds

i dont see it quite as badly, imo it was pretty clear that he was just taking it easy and having a look the first few rounds, rather than not being able to deal with what wallish was doing. its not an uncommon thing vs overmatched opposition that a guy can afford to do it against. he was doing patty cake stuff and clearly pulling his shots in the first 2. i thought he started to throw with intent in the 3rd and won that, then ko'd him in the 4th. when he did let his shots go they were still quick and crisp.

he'll be fine up to the top 20 range or so. he has good timing and is fast and compact with his shots. very good to the body too, and id suspect a big puncher at cruiser should still have respectable power at hw. kinda reminds me of a lower grade version of canelo.

he will defo have problems with better tall guys who can give him movement though, it's always been his thing that he struggles more when he cant set to punch. aside from usyk, lebedev gave him a really close fight doing that approach too

Yeah possibly. Once he decided to start throwing shots he looked far better. He looks small at heavy. The stoppage was awful though. Wallisch would be reasonable at a mid level if he wasn't so chinny.

I agree. He was being outworked and even being pushed back sometimes, but still landing the bigger single shots. Some great looping right hand counters over the jab. Body shots slowed Wallish down enough that by round 4 Gassiev was able to properly impose himself.

Really?

Wallisch was glove-jabbing and playing a tapping game all night long. Gassiev landed power punches every round, except the 2nd. I gave only the 2nd to Wallisch.

Overall, it looked like a pick-a-round-to-KO-him type of a fight.

Wallish managed to box with him on the back foot for 3 rounds but in a style that uses way to much energy. So gassieve let him do that and just plodded forwards.

Gassieve aimlessly plodding is still a tough fight for just about anyone Except usyk, Joyce and the fury’s...

I am not sure if Wallisch landed a single clean shot during the fight. Gassiev was picking pretty much every shot on the gloves.

The difference in level of the two boxers was pretty easy to see in this one.

Stoppage was bit early. Would have been better for Murat to get a chance to finish it in the next round.

I am happy to have Gassiev back on the scene. He just might be bit too small for HW with the style he has. Good boxers might do what Usyk did and beat him from distance. The slugger types might be too big and strong for him. Time will tell. Should be some fun fights with him in the future if he keeps being active.

True he was hitting a lot of gloves. But at least he was throwing! Anyway as soon as Gassiev decided to throw it was game over. I believe Murat is a notoriously slow starter

It wasn't a slow start, he was in control and outlanded Wallisch with cleaner and heavier shots in the majority of rounds.

Hmmmm thats not how I saw it. I'd like to see punchtats. I thought Wallisch looked like the white Muhammad Ali for 3 rounds (Lol)

i think you are reading too much into wallish winning a couple of rounds, to me it seemed pretty obvious gas was just having a look and taking it easy to start.. basically as soon as he started throwing punches it was over. i thought he also won the 3rd btw..

Yeah I guess possibly. I just couldn’t understand why Gassiev was so slow and plodding forward. We’ll see what he looks like against a live opponent

Gassiev looked like he was a bit rusty which is to be expected and was willing to be patient until the opponent showed signs of slowing , then stepped up his game .

Good run out for my my money although I dont see him bothering even chisora level fighters .

It's impossible with current Gassiev's promotion. His team made a stupid move and went under promotion of Hryunov, the Russian local version of Don King. Everyone got to know quite long ago, that Hryunov sucked. A fact of a promising boxer like Gassiev signing with Hryunov is a shocker. Now Gassiev will fight lesser opposition to please hometown casual fans, forget Babic and any other intriguing matchups.
