Joe Joyce Stops Carlos Takam

Post by Thomastearns »

Another impressive win for the Juggernaut?

Perhaps the stoppage was a wee premature, but after what happened to the unfortunate Daniel Dubois it's kind of understandable.

Joe Joyce has certainly earned a title shot and I get the feeling that Joe will be rooting for Usyk against Joshua in the hope of crack at the title.

As for Fury or Wilder, I can't see either of them willing to step in with boxing's unstoppable wrecking machine.

Yes. A typical British stoppage.

Joyce could have lost every round, but he's just a freak of nature with superb durability and chin. He was coming forward and taking shots without getting in trouble and eventually overwhelmed Takam. Bad tactics, but worked against a vulnerable enough opponent.

AJ will have a rematch clause. I know its a mando, but it didnt go to bids, meaning contracts can be anything. No matter what happens joyce would be very lucky to fight that mando in the next 18 months. So needs to keep busy, Yoka fight would be fun, use a bit of olympic momentum to start the hype moving. or any top 10.

Maybe he has enough confidence now to challenge Luis Ortiz again?

a 6' 2"/250 pounds midget with a 80" reach.

keep on smacking your forehead, buddy!

might lead to good results if you continue doing it long enough!

6'1.5" maybe peak height 10 years ago. And reach is never more than 78" ... and so much muscle on small guy demands more oxygen

I usually hate standing stoppages but Takam made this one easy, standing there doing nothing, not returning fire, guarding or getting out of the way of the shots for 30 seconds

He wasn't throwing back and was getting battered. How many unanswered punches were there? It was double figures. I think it was a good stoppage.

Fun fight by the way!

I hope somebody has a word and tells him never to wear that again. I get it that he was wearing the costume for the Marvel Character Juggernaught but it wasn't exactly a ring walk to instil the opponent with awe and fear was it?

I hope the whole fcken crowd are wearing them for his next fight. A free Juggernaut helmet waiting on each seat to plonk on your head. It'd be an awesome sight.

Just watched the long version of the highlights.
Joyce is a top 10 rated heavyweight with absolutely no head movement - he's a game changer.
I also had not problem with the stoppage.

It’s one of them where it looks good from one perspective, but can fully understand Takam being fuming about it too.

If I was Takam I’d be thinking Boxing isn’t a tickling contest. I was Ahead on the cards. Probably my last chance to get one more big fight. Ive not gone down or looked seriously hurt. Sketchy as fornicate on my feet, yes, but not out the game.

Takam would’ve been better off taking a knee and an 8 count in hindsight
