usyk wins the fight, if joshua doesn't catch him with a lucky punch he doesn't see coming usyk oupoints him no problem.
the judges decision will be a whole different story.

Re: Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder III - October 9, 2021
What are basing that on? His thrashing of Chisora? His demolition of Witherspoon?
I think Usyk at his best is a remarkable fighter and yet another very respectable challenger for Joshua. In Joyce, Usyk has beaten a fighter who is as big as Joshua, he has beaten fighters who are quicker than Joshua, and fighters who are better boxers than Joshua, but he hasn't fought anyone who is as big, quick, and skillful as Joshua in one package and he certainly hasn't faced anyone who can punch like Joshua i.e. with fearsome power and in combinations.
His biggest problem for me is his lack of power, even at cruiserweight he wasn't regarded as a big hitter. Anyone who doesn't have the firepower to keep Joshua respectful and cautious, is going to be in for a rough ride in my opinion.
I have tremendous respect for Oleksandr Usyk but he's going to need to demonstrate qualities that were conspicuously absent from his last two performances if he is going to have a decent chance of taking the titles.

Tough fight to predict. AJ is obviously bigger and stronger, but it's a tough fight for him. For years, the heavyweight division has seen smaller guys beat bigger guys before we even had cruiserweight. Edge to AJ though.
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder III - October 9, 2021
As we get closer to this fight, I don't think Usyk has what it takes to stand in there with AJ. Never been a huge fan, but AJ can box; mix up his punches; and certainly can hit. Haven't seen anything from Usyk at HW can tells me he would win this fight. He's a long ways from outclassing the inexperienced Joyce in the ams.

Usyk h
Does everything extremely well in terms of punch placement, footwork, defense... hes good enough to consistently get inside the jab and score
The issue will be joshua is good enough to land power shots on usyk and he has one punch power. I see usyk ducking into an uppercut when he starts getting tired

...as much as I like Usyk I don't think he's got the power, the size and the punch...the main reason why AJ lost to Ruiz was that Andy went all guns blazing taking chances and eventually winning...not sure Usyk is this type of a boxer...
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder III - July 24, 2021
oh come on is anyone entertaining the glove thing , i have valour gloves my 16 ozs u can throw slap jab looks identical to that video ,tyson has decent enough power on him ,in his past fights he has boxed differently more defensive minded , if he threw punches like wilder he would take boxers heads of but he aint as quick as wilder so he will raley throw a punch go over his front knee as if he missed he is getting laid out but the power is there , like i said in the post cant see it happening looks like it aint nowBandog wrote: ↑14 Jun 2021, 20:13What if the rumors are true about Fury loading his gloves? Since when has he been a monster puncher? If you look at history, it is the experienced trainers that catch things like that not the commissions. You can bet the farm on this....very close scrutiny on glove issues. No excuses, may the best man win. (Hope there is random testing too because of Fury's past)
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder III - October 9, 2021
If Wilder believed his gloves were loaded why did it take 8 months for him to mention it. Why not after the fight , or even to the ref / trainer during the fight or between rounds. In the same statement he said he saw Hatton doing something to the gloves in their first fight - surely if that was true he’d have been on the ball to spot any irregularities in the second.
Hes also blamed his walk in outfit and claimed his trainer was in Fury’s camp.

Re: Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder III - October 9, 2021
Fair question. I can't believe anybody is onboard with this utter bullshit. Deas was right there watching Fury getting taped and gloved up FFS.
When I first became aware of Deontay and his story (menial job, sick daughter etc) I was so wanting him to get to the top. After several years of listening to him brag and doing little to back it up, I found I didn't like him much but I did greatly enjoy watching him fight. I felt he would leave a massive hole when he eventually retires.
Now after years of fighting also-rans and swerving the best contenders, holding the belt to ransom, even now when he doesn't actually possess it, i've no desire to see him fight Fury for the third time and I'm now reconciled to the fact we are never going to see Wilder fight Joshua, Povetkin (how I wanted that one 6 years ago) Whyte, Parker, Ruiz, Pulev, Hrgovic, Joyce, Yoka etc. in fact I've now reached the stage where I'd like him to just f *ck off and let the real men fight.

Re: Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder III - October 9, 2021
I never found his fights particularly interesting. He would always do the jab, paw, circle, rinse and repeat routine. Sure he would end up getting a ko but 95% of the fight stunk. That’s until he met Louis Ortiz and Fury.

It will be interesting to see if Covid has any long term effects on athletes.
What's the best example of a major athlete coming back strong after having covid?
Are there any examples of covid having long term bad effects on athletes? Folks who have never been the same in the wake of their covid experience?:
Wonder if this will shift the odds on this one.

Probably it depends on a course of the illness. The likes of Luke Campbell and Christian Hammer didn't seem to decline. Povetkin had a bad course and could barely stand in his last fight. All of them lost, by the way. Who else fought after being positive?BoxBuzz wrote: ↑23 Jul 2021, 09:45 It will be interesting to see if Covid has any long term effects on athletes.

There have been huge amounts of boxers , UFC fighters, soccer players who’ve tested positive and within 2 weeks they’re back fighting and fornicating . Most people don’t have serious effects.DrDuke wrote: ↑23 Jul 2021, 17:20Probably it depends on a course of the illness. The likes of Luke Campbell and Christian Hammer didn't seem to decline. Fair comment - but what we do see so far is over 90% of people have made a full recovery with no further effects
Of course they could relapse - but as it stands that’s not the case so far

p4p he may be better than aj but hes going to be overpowered, pretty confident aj beats him. though not sure he gets stopped, i can see him putting in a negative performance and losing most rounds but making the distance. similar to aj -parker
i still think he'd beat joyce though, albeit it would be a 60-40 type match and i find myself having to think about it more and more as joyce keeps winning. i think usyk's stamina and movement + speed would be enough for him to score in and out and avoid enough to reach home for a decision. people mention that usyk struggled with del (i hardly gave a round to del after the 2nd), but joyce is much more methodical and measured in attacking then delly (del basically just wades in) and i think that would give usyk extra time to find spaces to move.......................that said, joyce is a huge powerful dude and usyk doesnt have pop at hw, plus is injury prone. wouldnt be a shock if jj got to him
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder III - October 9, 2021
I was sure of it until he moved up and then he hasn't looked anything overly special. Haye looked better when he moved to heavyweight.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑26 Jul 2021, 17:55did you ever think he had what it takesoogiebe wrote: ↑18 Jul 2021, 20:51 As we get closer to this fight, I don't think Usyk has what it takes to stand in there with AJ. Who are we kidding? This whole lawsuit debacle has screwed us all of seeing the fight that we all wanted to see: AJ vs. Tyson. The odds to me are low that both guys end up winning these fights. Let’s be honest here. AJ’s probably got the worst chance of winning. AJ’s new style of scientifically winning fights on the strengths of his boxing skills against Usyk? Come on. What a horrible fight to have to fight after millions were on the table to fight Tyson. Now he gets a tougher fight for peanuts compared to what he had? Don’t diminish that factor when it comes to a boxer’s psyche.
Tyson is back to his postponement routine which means he’s either back to snorting everything in his cupboard or not into it mentally. Either way, odds are that we aren’t going to be seeing the Tyson from 2nd Wilder fight. I think both fights are very losable and that not only equates to big money thrown away but an epic heavyweight fight us fans might never get to see. That is very possible and sad.

This is what's likely to happen, and keep on happening as long as the elite boxers are seen as valuable properties and agents.
They're being protected and harvested for maximum financial return by promoters and agents who seem to think they're working in the entertainment industry and not in sports.
They seem to be acting under the old Hollywood principle on never allowing their biggest moneymakers to appear in the same film / ring.
Championship boxing is hardly a sport today and these people are all responsible. The promoters, the agents, the sanctioning bodies and in far too many cases, the boxers themselves. Yes, you Mr Crawford.
However, ultimately, it's the paying fans that are responsible for this sporting shambles. If they really want to watch true sporting contests then they should cancel their subscriptions to this money transferring passing under the guise of competitive sport.
"AJ’s probably got the worst chance of winning. AJ’s new style of scientifically winning fights on the strengths of his boxing skills against Usyk?"
This might be unwise but isn't this what true champions are supposed to do? AJ was never one to run from the best boxer in the division or ignore his mandatories.
To Anthony Joshua's credit, he's been the only HW beltholder that's been acting like a true champion, staying active and taking on all comers.
The others are either canny fork tongued businesmen (Fury) or just hopelessly lost misguided/ manipulated puppets (Wilder).
Once this Fury / Wilder pantomime is finally over,
perhaps then we can hope to see the likes of Joe Joyce, Dillian Whyte, Daniel Dubois, Andy Ruiz, Michael Hunter, Filip Hrgovic etc all getting their opportunity for a crack at the title.
Unless of course Tyson Fury wins and AJ doesn't.
Then all bets are off - once again.
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder III - October 9, 2021
My take is that Joshua is facing a quality opponent that could cause a huge upset but realistically AJ has the tools to negotiate this hurdle without too much fuss.
This is basically my take on the situation before AJ lost his titles to Andy Ruiz so I'm taking nothing for granted.
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder III - October 9, 2021
Only fights of real relevance on HW division are AJ Fury Wilder
If one isn’t fighting one of the others they need to be in with someone that can be sold as interesting
Usyk fits the bill but I suspect only this once . If AJ overpowers him as expected there will be zero value in him against the other two

Re: Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder III - October 9, 2021
The rubber match will be a bit more interesting than the rematch was only because both Fury and Wilder have been out of the ring for so long. And as much as I like Tyson Fury he is a man who grows awfully complacent when he believes the opponent to no longer be a threat. I still believe that he will win against Wilder in the rubber match but I absolutely do not like seeing him in Miami and Vegas hobnobbing with celebrities because it gives me flashbacks to the Otto Wallin affair.
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Deontay Wilder III - October 9, 2021
I think we’ll either see Fury win by 4/5 rounds on points or can Wilder catch him?
Big question is how much has that good hiding taken out of Wilder. He wasn’t just beat, he took a bit of a hiding.
How has it effected him physically?
I think he’s shown it’s effected him mentally, although making excuses and not facing reality is probably better than accepting he got leathered .
Million percent agree seeing Fury mooching about training all over the show will go one way or the other
