think it would go longer myself, hughie is hard to stop when he's just focused on surviving, which vs an offensive threat like wilder im pretty sure would be the case. and wilder usually takes longer to lower the boom. duhaupas, szpilka, molina, washington, stiverne 1, arreola, ortiz x2.........

who knows might even be wilder's 2nd decision win

Personally I see Hughie's current record as better than Doentay's with Hughie certainly, IMO, facing the better opposition thus far. Granted many of those merits on Hughie's resume were indeed losses but they were constructive losses none the less.
Are you talking about Hughie Fury as in Tysons cousin? Or is there Another one I don’t know about.

Tysons cousin Hughie is 25-3 , never won a title, and his best win is… errrm… Wach ? Sexton
Best defeat Parker

Wilder is 42-1 , former WBC champion, wins over many many fighters better than Wach
And lost on to Tyson Fury

Unless the beating Tyson gave Wilder has really effed him up he would spank Hughie .

People forget that when Hughie Fury was only 24 years of age, he’d already challenged for the WBO world heavyweight title and engaged in highly competitive bouts against the likes of Alexander Povetkin, Kubrat Pulev and Joseph Parker (two world champions and one two-time title challenger), as well as being ducked by Andy Ruiz Jr. (when the Mexican-American withdrew from an October 2016 bout, without reason, they’d already agreed to).

Up until very recently, all four of four guys were considered top-ten world-rated heavyweights by The RING & ESPN at the same time.

Hughie Fury is only 26 years of age and his body has physically matured, since he’s much heavier than when he fought the aforementioned names.

Now please compare Hughie Fury’s resume in the pro ranks to other 26 year old heavyweights?

I don’t know about you, but I applaud young fighters that are willing to face anyone, regardless as to whether it risks blemishing their records.

hughie has shown no improvement from the parker loss to the povetkin loss, his issue is that he freezes up and goes timid when faced with an offensively threatening opponent, he's done it every time no matter if he's been younger or gotten older

seems like an ingrained mental issue

How does Hughie Fury’s resume in the pro ranks compare to other 26 year old heavyweights?

Would they have remained unbeaten if they’d faced Fury’s opposition at 24 years of age or younger?

I’ve seen improvements in Hughie. He may never be as good as Tyson, but I can’t hold his losses against him.

He’s a difficult fighter to beat. He is very durable and can definitely box.

he's about to turn 27 and his best win is, who, 41 year old mariusz wach? a guy who couldnt even beat a shopworn, ultra chinny artur szpilka

many hws had much better wins at the same age

his closest result vs a good opponent was the parker fight, he hasnt shown any improvement since then despite the assumed trajectory that he should improve with age

Absolutely nothing to do with applauding him for his age or willingness to fight.

I was responding to the comment Hughie Fury has a better record than Wilder. And Hughie Fury has faced better opposition than Wilder. Which is rubbish.

Absolutely nothing to do with his resume compared to other fighters of the same age.

Agree - Tyson fought Wladamir at 26

Hughie started boxing at like 4 years old and is (I think but don’t quote me) the only U.K. amateur to ever win gold in the youth super HW division, he turned pro at 18. When he fought Pulev he 6ft 6 and 240 odd lbs - he wasn’t a 10st inexperienced midget . Also let’s not forget Pulvev was 38. Hardly a spring chicken.

To be honest age matter nothing. The thread stated with the claim Hughie had a better resume than wilder. Not at 26, 25 or 24. Just a better resume . Which he hasn’t .

Age matters not

I like Hughie Fury. . Be interesting to see where he fits in to the HW division.

However - he lost to a 39 year old Povetkin, a 38 year old Pulev and was comprehensively beaten by Parker.

The future of the division he is not

ya, the thing is that almost any decent hw who turns pro like 5 years before the average is going to have a 'he's done more than so and so had at his age' thing going on for a while ---although even then, clearly several guys have well surpassed hughie's best achievements by the same age

the thing that is most important to me when assessing hughie, and what makes me not care about his age, is that he's simply shown no improvement. and not every fighter does. joe parker is no better now at 29 then he was beating ruiz for the title at 24.

hughlie clearly has some skills, particularly on defense, but he's got to do more than beat mari wach and merely go the distance vs top 10 guys to really impress and show that he himself belongs there

Agreed. And, at the end of the day he’s not 16.

All this guff about show me a better pro CV at 26. His is hardly a murderers row of heavyweights. Tyson Furys was better at 26, whilst Joshua and Wilder had Olympic success and switched codes at a later age.

Anyway - long story short version

Wilder CV is better than Furys
At this moment in time wilder beats Fury

And I wouldn’t bet my house on Fury becoming the future of the division

Hughie Fury has been elevated to the big stage numerous times and has failed to deliver an exciting performance. I would prefer Wilder face a more exciting opponent such as Whyte or Ruiz after he loses to T Fury for the third time.

A quite unpredictable matchup. Hughie seems to be more of a boxer than Wilder, but he is mostly unconvincing at the higher level. Also, it's not clear, how he deals with Wilder's power. I lean more towards The Big Dosser. Probably the power will be a key here.

I agree. :TU:

Hughie Fury isn’t an exciting fighter to watch.

Even I struggle to watch his bouts and I’m an advocate of his.

But, he’s better than his resume and none of his fellow young prospects around the same age would consider facing him, because he’s high-risk low-reward.

I can kind of see where you’re coming from, but I really can’t help thinking that none of the current crop of heavyweight prospects would have beaten the likes of Parker, Povetkin and Pulev had they fought those guys between the ages of 22 and 24 years of age.

Even Andy Ruiz Jr. ducked Hughie Fury.

I think Hughie is better than his resume and will improve.

And I also feel that most heavyweight prospects are protected, so they superficially look more impressive and exciting than Hughie does, mainly because they’re engaging in mismatches (otherwise referred to by promoters as “learning” bouts).

Whilst I don’t think Hughie will ever be a world-beater, he’ll always be regarded as a massive banana skin capable of scoring the odd upset here-and-there. And this might limit his career choices.

That said, I’d like to see Luis Ortiz against Hughie Fury right now – the battle of the overrated versus the underrated! :TU:

Id have this as a 50-50 at this point. Hughies chin has been good, good enough for wilder? he absolutly out boxes wilder, just if he gets hurt at any point.

Hughie is a funny one, zero good wins, but his best performances have probably been vs Parker, Pov and Pulev in that order.. think he would of beat pulev without the cut but we will never know. He needs meaningfull fights asap, but honestly whos gunna take it?
