Abel Sanchez did say, during February 2019, that he thought Joyce needed a couple more fights before facing Louis Ortiz. The Brit had only competed seven times as a pro at that point.

This was around the same date Joe stopped working with Sanchez.

For the record, Abel Sanchez only worked with Joe for three fights, with their working relationship spanning less than seven months.

I'm sure Ortiz made much more than the minimum in fights with Wilder. His team did turn dow big money, but with only 30 days notice, its hard to prepare properly for a title fight.
Besides that, I doubt if he trusts Hearn. Matchroom signed Ortiz, thinking he'd get a title shot after being the interim WBA champ for 2 years. At least a fight with Whyte. I think Hearn signed him to keep him away from AJ, who was IBF champ. Don't derail the golden goose!

Have you considered that maybe Hearn wanted to sign Ortiz with the idea he could showcase him to the UK public and build interest and demand for massive fight against Joshua?

If that was the plan (obviously I don't know what Hearn was thinking but any reasonable person would surely conclude, on the basis of Joshua's record, that it's way more likely than a plan created in order for Joshua to avoid fighting anyone, never mind Ortiz) then it pretty soon fell apart due to Ortiz stinking the place out in fights against poor quality opposition (Malik Scott, Dave Allen, was there a third under the Matchroom banner?)

You do make me smile, Bandog: You are prepared to believe on the flimsiest of evidence that Wilder and Ortiz are scared of no man, and their very weak resumes are a result of a combination of circumstances and the whole world ducking them.
