Hennessy did a good job for him building him up but similar to with Carl Froch, Hennessy can only seem to take fighters so far. He can take them to a World title but to superstardom? Seemingly not.

Fury is very proud. Too proud to sign with Hearn. People said AJ would up and leave Matchroom and it's never happened and I think that speaks volumes. The weight they take off of him is obviously worth the huge money he pays them.

Hennessy can’t get guys mainstream. To think that Froch was fighting on BBC/ITV early in his career and still couldn’t shift many tickets for Dirrell is criminal and then it was a joke what happened with the first Kessler fight.

I think Eddie works off a % with AJ and it’s clearly been working well. Also speaks volumes that Canelo’s working closely with him too now.

The first WBC defence against Taylor was where it all started for me. Froch had just been in an absolute blood and guts war on ITV live Saturday night. And we can't get his first defence on TV other than a repeat 24 hours later. He should have been fighting tv companies off with a shitty stick.

I always thought July was a big rush but the networks/promoters would have spent a lot of money still promoting the fight and on logistics. It’s a wasted few million for them and it’s something that’s reflected badly on Tyson.

They didn't though. The buzz was non existent. For fight two Top Rank spent millions promoting it, Superbowl, etc. Even TV weren't bothered.

I agree there was no buzz but that doesn’t mean they didn’t spend decent money on it.

There wasn’t anything in the U.K. but they still would have spent decent amounts in advertising in the US between the 2 networks and airtime over there isn’t cheap. Even on their own channels there will still be an opportunity cost of the airtime.

They would also have lost a decent sized deposit on the venue as they wouldn’t have been able to get anything/anyone else in there on the July date.

Also things like flights and hotels. There would have been 100s of flights lost between the TV companies, production, fighters teams etc. A lot of airlines aren’t being too flexible over there.

Wonder how Fury will react to him playing 2nd fiddle behind Joshua/Usyk. That’s quite clearly the better fight and there’s only a few weeks between them.
Considering Wilder doesn’t want to engage the media or team Fury then the bulk of the media buildup will rightly be focused on 25th Sept.
A part of me feels we may never see Fury fight again.

Tyson Fury trains with heavyweight rival he once labeled “a big stiff idiot”

In an infamous Channel 5 appearance back in 2012, Fury made a famous statement about Price and fellow Scouser Tony Bellew.

Since then, Fury and Price became friends as one rose to the very summit of the sport, and the other struggled to make his mark despite the considerable promise.

There was a video I think from yesterday of Tyson running around Croxteth which is near Alder Hay where his daughter is. Must be difficult for him.

A couple of fans ran next to him with mobiles on him asking him questions - I think sometimes he can be too much a man of the people. Given he’s had coronavirus once, he’s going in/out of hospitals and he’s training for a big fight, he shouldn’t be shaking hands with random fans whilst out running.

Wilder Will Not Be Looking For One Shot With Fury, Says Sparring Partner

Former heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder will not be looking a single punch in his upcoming trilogy fight with Tyson Fury, according to sparring partner Stephan Shaw.

Back in February of 2020, Fury stopped Wilder in the seventh round to capture the WBC world title.

Their trilogy fight will take place on October 9th, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Last year, Wilder parted ways with his longtime co-trainer Mark Breland.

And then earlier this year, Wilder hired former foe turned close friend, retired heavyweight Malik Scott, to be his trainer for the trilogy fight.

Shaw has been sparring with Wilder to help him prepare for the fight.

"It's kind of cerebral. He's reserved, but he seems like he's at peace. He seems cool to me. It's not like, 'Grrr, I gotta get him back'. Nah, he's like, 'Fight night, they're gonna see'. He's all business, that's one thing I can say. I can't wait to see it, I'm excited," Shaw told The Sun.

"Hopefully we will see a different Deontay. With the different things that he's doing in camp and that Malik is adjusting and adapting him to, I see Deontay working on those things. It's only going to tell on fight night but he's definitely trying new things. He's not just trying to hunt you down with one big shot.

"I think one of the mishaps he had before was thinking, 'Guys have to be perfect for a whole 12 rounds, all it takes for me is one second to change the fight'. Even though that's true, it can go either way, it is heavyweight boxing and one punch can change the fight for Deontay or Fury. Trying those things and working on them and actually executing them on fight night is what is going to tell how this fight is really going to be. From my point of view, he's definitely working on new things."
