Canelo's level in the art of boxing. I think Canelo would be undisputed champion even at 175 lbs.

Post by apollo creed »

What I've noticed about Canelo is his confidence when he's fighting and he's throwing those heavy counters and combos. Canelo is the type of fighter that he's going in to that pitbull mode when he's rattled. Pretty much I see no fear in his eyes, just confidence and grit.

I know that Canelo is training very hard but also I think he wants more to get better and better with every training camp. He's a small guy- if you look at him in person and size him up you may think that he's not such a big deal but man this dude is like a 'sayan' . lol

When Canelo fought BJS I saw Canelo shorting the gap between them and throwing some heavy counter-uppercuts. Of course that BJS was more inactive and he was just coasting as a fighter in his career but I think Canelo with his skills, grit and strength could beat Bivol, Beterbiev or Smith and prove that he's daring to fight much stronger and bigger guys.

The only time that Canelo disappointed was when he became the wbc mw and 'lineal' champion in 2015 and he refused to fight at that particulary time (2015-2016)his No 1 mandatory challenger in Golovkin. At that time Golovkin was a little younger-like 33-34 y/o. Anyway, it is what it is.

So you think canelo is up for challenges? I'm going to have to agree.

Yup, I think Canelo is that good that he could mix with the bigger and stronger guys from 175. Ideally would be somehow that the champs from 175 to fight each other and the winner would be even a more stronger and proven opponent for Canelo.

I have to say that Canelo doesn't have to prove anything or take this risk to fight the 175 champions, as some people would want to see him losing. Not at all. Canelo can stay at 168 and fight Charlo and Benavidez who would be good opponents too.

I have to agree with you.

I feel that Beterbiev is a better fighter than Bivol.

But Artur is tailor made for Canelo, because styles makes fights.

Canelo would have a tougher fight against Bivol.

But regardless, Canelo beats both. Probably by decision.

Smith is a decent fighter, but I don't see him posing any serious problems to Canelo.

Canelo fought GGG twice.

Canelo's handlers made those bouts. K2 didn't submit any offers of their own - they just waited to receive them.

Anyway, some facts (copied and pasted from previous post):

• 22/01/2016 - Canelo and Golden Boy are legally obliged to attend court for the $27m All-Star Boxing lawsuit, with the date of the hearing scheduled to commence from the 23/05/16 onwards
• 04/05/2016 - The WBC announce the week following the Canelo-Khan bout, there will be a 30-day negotiation period to agree terms for the winner to defend their title against GGG
• 07/05/2016 - Canelo successfully defends his WBC middleweight title by scoring a KO victory over Amir Khan
• 10/05/2016 - The WBC change their mind and formally orders a 15-day deadline for GBP & K2 to come to an agreement for a Canelo-GGG bout, with a purse bid scheduled for the 24/05/16, for a fight to be held by the 17/09/16
• 19/05/2016 - Canelo vacates WBC middleweight title and GGG is formally announced as the new champion
• 23/05/2016 - Canelo and Golden Boy were physically in Florida attending court addressing the $27m All Star Boxing lawsuit
• 13/06/2016 - All-Star Boxing Awarded $8.5m in damages from Canelo
• 16/09/2017 - Canelo fights GGG (the Mexican refuses to pay sanctioning fees to the WBC. The WBC title is only on the line for GGG)
• 15/09/2018 - Canelo-GGG rematch

The WBC’s conduct resulted in a long-running feud between Canelo and Mauricio Sulaiman’s organisation, whereby Alvarez refused to pay any sanctioning fees to the WBC or accept any of their belts (even commemorative ones) for 2½ years.

The WBC moved the goalposts, knowing full-well that doing so would compel Canelo to vacate his title.

Even Mauricio Sulaiman made no attempt to refute Team Canelo’s claims, because he couldn’t, due to the WBC’s very own public announcements about this matter.

no offence. but you are trippin' on da nelo hype train big time!

he lost the first golovkin fight clear as crystal and couldn't make him back up even once.

the second fight saw ggg still as the aggressor canelo stood his ground a bit more, still was outthrown and outlanded.

all facts that make it objectively impossible if fairly judged for canelo to take the belts from golovkin except corruption was the case. and it was.

as champion ggg won the second one too, would've kept his frikkin belts if they wrongly ruled it a draw by giving canelo the benefit in literally every close round plus plain gift him another one.

ggg beat canelo twice. back 2 back.

beterbiev would knock canelo's block off just to get fucked over. canelo would resort to timed counters and the occasional flurry.

and yes, he'd probably win on points. sadly most probably unfairly so.

I hope that Beterbiev vs Smith and Bivol vs Ramirez fights would get made this year to have a 'hot' 175 division. :box:

no thanks, 1slime! i'm sure you would love to get in on the action though.

not in a million years would the slightest idea of 'blowing ggg' enter my thoughts if ur gay ass wouldn't bring it up.

but i'm still busy getting rid of the shit stains spread by your filthy shitbiscuit whore of a mother all over my house last night.

I’d have him as a favourite vs every light heavy. So him going undisputed there wouldent suprise me. Still all live opponents so him losing to one of them wouldent shock me either.

That's not all he has to do.

You're not giving enough credit to all of his careful chemical preparations. These testing protocols can be darned tricky blighters. There's always the outside chance that some young wet pup of a lab assistant doesn't know who he's dealing with.

That kind of a thing can lead to a certain amount of embarrassment for the administrators of the sport.

Nor should we forget the months and months of hard-nosed fiscal negotiations in trying to screw out every last dollar and nickel out of his hopeful begging opponents and his hapless misguided fans.

It's only right and fair to give the mighty Saul his fair share of credit. It really is a privilege to see such an artist at work.

🤣 Entertaining post! Don't forget, if Canelo is caught with let's say, tainted meat? He'll get banned 6 months so he is still able to fight his normal twice a year. Erik Morales got a 2 yr ban for the same thing if I remember right.

Are there still "levels" in boxing? Will he ever be equal to Floyd since he was basically shut out by a 36 yr old welterweight? Asking for a friend. 😁

So we don't think fighters can improve? We often have conversations about fighters deteriorating, can we consider those that have improved or is that something that can't be considered amongst fans?

Canelo has improved a lot. He ain't the same fighter. The thing with Canelo is that he was/still is a stocky-short guy who I think he even had a hard time to do 154 at that time.

But Canelo has improved and he's improving as the next fights would show. I think Canelo would fight the 175 champs, Charlo and Benavidez. :box:

Bertibev although is sort of made for Canelo style wise i can see him seriously hurting Canelo because of his size and power that might a bit too much for Canelo.

I don't think so. Canelo has a good defense, he's smart and fast. He's an elite counter puncher with strong neck and chin. He's good at setting traps. Canelo is a gym rat and he's an active fighter. Also he has elite experience. Beterbiev is good and proven but he ain't gonna land too much clean shots on Canelo. Also Beterbiev since he beat Gvozdyk, he didn't fought one top fighter. Another thing that Canelo does good is that he knows how to ride with punches.

The most underrated thing about Canelo is his boxing relation with his trainer. Canelo listens very well what Reynoso says to him and he executes it very well. It's the a strong-old bond.

Beterbiev and Bivol are top-proven champions and the best opponents for Canelo. Benavidez and Charlo are good opponents too but less proven.

It's obvious Canelo is a great boxer. Top 3 pfp guy imo. That said I think the best page he took from Floyd's playbook was matchmaking, hoodwinking the casual fans thinking he is taking a dangerous fight.
The only guys that trouble Canelo are ultra slick guys like Floyd, slick southpaws like Lara or Andrade, and even Trout. BJS can be slick, but even as inactive as he was troubled Canelo. One thing about Floyd, if a win was somewhat controversial, he did a rematch. Canelo doesn't in most cases.

Edit, credit to GGG for imo beating Canelo at least once, not slick, but under rated boxer. Canelo ducked him imo when G was at his best.
