Bivol is a better opponent, its just not the undisputed. Bivol would of been a much better opponent had he not looked shakey vs craig richards.

Plant, Bivol, Beterb, Jo smith jr and benavidez are all perfectly acceptable opponents. Outside of that ill be disapointed, but only cause canelo is on such a roll id love him to just decide to stay fighting top guys every 4 months...

Canelo beating Bivol is a tougher challenge than beating Caleb Plant. It’s a better fight, but won’t enhance his legacy anywhere near as much as the Mexican beating the American.

But I’d personally prefer Canelo to fight Beterbiev, because I feel that Artur isn’t as good as advertised and his style is tailor-made for the Mexican.

I don’t currently have any desire to see Canelo face the likes of Jermall Charlo, Demetrius Andrade and David Benavidez, because these guys are choosing to face underwhelming opposition, whilst refusing to face each other (regardless of all their pointless “media talk”).

Of course, it's better, as it seems more challenging for Canelo. Actually, Plant's style is worse for Canelo in theory than Bivol's one, but Plant isn't proven on the high level in contrast to Bivol.

I've gone for Plant because that completes Canelo's ambitions at Super-middle then he can turn his attention to the Light-heavyweights.

That's the logical progression.

I wonder if the completion of the Artur Beterbiev-Joe Smith Jr. negotiations is dependent on Canelo’s choice of opponent for his September 18th fight-date?

The media reported that the Artur Beterbiev-Joe Smith Jr. fight was being finalised more than two weeks ago, but they’ve maintained radio silence ever since.

Coincidentally, the Artur Beterbiev-Joe Smith Jr. WBC, IBF & WBO title unification bout was scheduled for the same September 18th fight-date.

Both fights are better but Bivol is the one being called frontrunner atm. :TU:
Plant can face someone more in his own league like Benavidez or Jermall and I'm sure we would all watch that fight.

 True. They'd probably wait for Canelo's move. It could be their biggest payday.

No doubt that Bivol is a more quality fighter than Callum Smith, Plant Bjs, Charlo or Benavidez. Canelo vs Bivol fight is my wish. :box:

Does bivol have the power to hold canelo off? He is a good boxer but i wouldent call him slick (mabey because he isnt southpaw), id just say he is technically good. Think without the power to keep canelo honest and without super slickness its a very hard nights work and he gets to you eventualy.

They both pose different challenges. I don't get the Plant hate like Bivol is that much more extraordinary. While Plant lacks resume, he has a harder style for Canelo than Bivol.

bivol gets nailed very little id say.........between pascal, smith, and barrera he got hit with prob 1 notable shot and lost about 3 rounds total. i think part of that is his defense is good, and part is that he often only does the bare minimum of what's needed to win rounds, hence doesnt take chances and open up

neither plant/bivol hit particularly hard though, that is true. but even if they did....would they even be able to hurt the ginger beef tank?

Only seven weeks to go until Canelo's 18th September fight-date and he hasn't got an opponent lined-up yet.

Either one.
Bivol lost a bit of his shine for me after the Richards fight. May have been an off night.
Plant could be negative if he gets clipped.
It will obviously be PPV, and I would pay for either.

Eddie hearn didnt sound confident canelo was going to fight that date. When asked about it he gave a soft mabey/ we'll see, then when asked about potential opponents floated Bivol, John rider, couple of others that were a bit underwhelming. I think canelo would rather get one big fight than 2 decent ones for the end of the year, so if he hasnt organised plant/bivol/beterb/jo smith jr for sep 18 within a week or so im guessing he will not fight september.

Bivol seems a bit more solid than Plant, and could step up a gear against Canelo - we only see what he's had to do so far.

I still see Canelo winning against either, but Bivol would be tougher to KO (which is pretty much what's going to happen in most Canelo fights).

If it is Bivol, who didn't look great his last fight, Canelo will most likely make him cut to 168 and have a rehydration clause. If that's the way it shakes out I probably won't watch.

When was the last time Canelo asked for a catchweight bout or a rehydration clause?

The last time he fought at 175. Several catchweight bouts. Are you fairly new to boxing?

Canelo isn’t lighter than Bivol anyway. He would just fight him 175 if he fights him. I think bivol could do it at 168 with some warming, but canelo wants a new belt, not to defend his.
