Beyer took some huge shots from Green i dont think he will be hurt that badly in this fight, I still think he can pull an upset here as he is the best opponent that Kessler has fought and is experienced enough to give Kessler trouble.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Nice retirement fund fight then. I wouldn't be surprised to see his corner pull him out after a few rounds, or Beyer to stay down if he gets hurt.Freiheit wrote:1½ mill euroes + german TV right (worth a lot also)

Well Taylor is a middlweight and Kessler is a 168 lber, I don't think Taylor is afraid to face anyone, but his backers at HBO maybe don't feel the same way.
I think that if the going get's tough in this fight, Beyer may well just think 'screw this' and capitulate, he's had a long hard career and has been looking shopworn and old of late. However, if he does well in the early rounds, could be a different story, as winning against Kessler could give him one more big money fight.

Beyer can fight out of a crisis. He was an inexperienced 3 year pro when he came to Telford against Woodhall. & he won the WBC title.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Well Taylor is a middlweight and Kessler is a 168 lber, I don't think Taylor is afraid to face anyone, but his backers at HBO maybe don't feel the same way.

But yes, kessler wants it more. the guy took a pay cut it seems, so that the win secures bigger dates in future. beyer- whatever happens - is cashing in.
Taylor is a big middle whose body is outgrowing the divison. only reason he's still there is the bogus shit that hbo are peddling, about taylor being the heir apparent to great middles , from Hopkins all the way back. It's bolloc_s of course. You can't manufacture history. Shit, nowadays Carlos Monzon would be waiting for his yearly date on Don King undercards. Stinks the way things are.

I've a feeling that Taylor is going to go on to big things. Despite his flaws and the hype around him, I believe he is talented, has desire, and will go on to establish himself as a dominant champ, he may lose along the way, but he's already been on one of the hardest learning curves I've seen in a long time, going from fighting patsies and a retread in Joppy, to fighting Hopkins and Winky, that's some leap up in class. Depsite whether or not anyone things he deserved those verdicts, all three were very close fights and he more than held his own against two of the best technicians in the business.

true, he will come through the ordeals a better fighter. i won't be surprised to see him beat Abraham or Miranda. i just think there are men he will do well to stay away from above 160 Calzaghe, Kessler, Bute being somejamesmcdonnell wrote:I've a feeling that Taylor is going to go on to big things. And you don't think that Taylor's own jab might take away Kessler's main weapon. Taylor's jab is faster and more fluid, and he has better movement than Kessler, who fights on rails, taking a step in and out of range without any lateral movement virtually?
It remains to be seen how Taylor would cope with the move up, but he looks to me like a natural light heavy who is boiling down to make weight.

Taylor's flashy, but a lot of that is without any practical application. Lot of shoeshining. Daniel Santos was flashy & Sergiy Dzinziruk was supposed to be one paced, but he gave him a bit of a lesson due to his accuracy. The fact that he does less in the ring means he concentrates on all the nuances of what he does, and the simple things he does are more effective. In a way Kessler is like that. As I've said before, when you put your jab to so much use you master it.
Winky is also on traintracks and is one handed. He's older and weaker and smaller than kessler, yet he outworked taylor. Winky had him flustered on the ropes. When kessler corners you he really opens up.
Taylor's movement is erratic & gives away what he's going to do with nervous tics. None of the guys he fought (elite) were young or with any particular elasticity in their shots. Hopkins was too old to throw shots freely and Wright was a bit outreached. Kessler has a good reach and keeps the shots coming in regular.
You're right to mention Taylor's learning curve. But I wouldn't underestimate Kessler's. Thobela and JC Green were former titlists, the former who beat Catley and the latter who split fights with oprime Joppy, Manuel Siaca is a versatile, quality boxer I don't care what anyone says, Mundine is a tricky bastard especially in Oz

Mundine ran in the fight with Kessler, Mundine is faster than Beyer but Beyer has been champ for a long time and has far more experience than Mundine and also being a southpaw will give Kessler trouble.pundit wrote:Better than Mundine?Ben Keilty wrote:Beyer took some huge shots from Green i dont think he will be hurt that badly in this fight, I still think he can pull an upset here as he is the best opponent that Kessler has fought and is experienced enough to give Kessler trouble.jamesmcdonnell wrote: Nice retirement fund fight then.
