Press Release

D4G Promotions in association with Round 10 Boxing Club and MTK Global have announced three events heading to Dubai in February, March and April.

The star-studded cards will be broadcast live in the US on ESPN+ in association with Top Rank, and worldwide on IFL TV, and begin on Saturday 6 February with Lee McGregor challenging Karim Guerfi for his European bantamweight title, and Sean McComb facing Gavin Gwynne for the vacant Commonwealth lightweight title.

The action continues on Friday 12 March, as Tyrone McKenna meets undefeated Zhankosh Turarov in a brilliant super-lightweight bout, Lewis Crocker defends his WBO European welterweight title against Deniz Ilbay, and Gary Cully and Viktor Kotochigov collide for the vacant WBO European lightweight title.

The trio of bills then gets rounded up on Saturday 3 April, and features two Filipino superstars, as four-weight world champion Donnie Nietes and highly-rated Albert Pagara both return to the ring against opponents to be announced.

Some of Dubai’s best local stars will also be featured on the cards, as the likes of Hasibullah Ahmadi and Faizan Anwar are due to compete, while even more fights will be revealed for the events in the coming days.

Ahmed Seddiqi of D4G Promotions said: “We’re delighted to be working with Round 10 Boxing Club and MTK Global to bring these three sensational events to Dubai.

“The events are taking place thanks to the superb work from the Dubai Government and the Dubai Sports Council, with their proactive approach to safety measures and protocols making them a shining example of how things should be done on the international stage.

“Their tremendous dedication has seen Dubai become one of the global leaders in this department, and these events will follow all of the essential safety measures to ensure it is as safe as possible.

“Each card will feature some of the very best fighters in the world, along with a number of Dubai’s highly-rated up and coming stars, so we can’t wait to get started.

“I’ve worked in this region for many years to bring boxing here, and now I feel like it is really coming together. I’m looking forward to the future because it is going to be very bright. We want the Middle East to be one of the major powers in boxing. That’s our goal and our plan to help build up grassroots boxing in the region.”

MTK Global CEO Bob Yalen said: “With the cancellation of boxing in the UK in January, the team were forced to re-think the upcoming schedule for 2021, and after speaking with Ahmed Seddiqi of D4G Promotions, we came to a fantastic solution by deciding to move three of our next four shows to Dubai.

“These three shows in Dubai will feature some of the most exciting prospects and future stars on the MTK roster, and we’re excited to kick off 2021 in style.”

Everlast Group Head of Operations David Al-Mudallal added: “We’re delighted to be supporting the return of boxing to Dubai. As a brand synonymous with professional boxing and worn by all of the greats, it’s important to Everlast that we support events like these and the opportunities they afford to professional fighters across the world and the boxing fans that will tune in.”

Tyrone McKenna versus 'Kazakh Kid' Tuararov confirmed for Feile an Phobail

TYRONE McKenna's postponed rumble with Kazakhstan's Zhankosh Tuararov for the WBO Inter-Continental Light-welterweight title is one of the highlights of a stacked undercard for the Feile an Phobail spectacular at Belfast's Falls Park on August 6.

Headlined by Michael Conlan's showdown with former IBF world super-bantamweight king TJ Doheny, the bill will also include Scotland's Lee McGregor (10-0) versus 32-0 Vincent Legrand for the EBU bantamweight belt.

More undercard fights will be confirmed early next week and Padraig McCrory, Sean McComb, Callum Bradley are all expected to be part of the show. It is understood that British super-featherweight champion Anto Cacace could also feature.

McKenna-Tuararov was originally scheduled for the undercard of Carl Frampton's ill-fated WBO super-featherweight shown with Jamel Herring in Dubai in April but ‘Da Kazakh Kid' (24-0 pulled out of the fight at the eleventh hour.

“He's an undefeated fighter and a tough fighter but when I beat him I'm WBO Inter-Continental champion, in the top five with the WBO and in a position to call out for a world title shot. It's a massive opportunity,” said ‘Mighty Celt' McKenna

“He's a tough fighter, he's strong, but I don't think he'll be able to handle the pace I set, I don't think he'll be able to handle my style – I'm 6'1”, I'm a southpaw – and I don't think he's been in the calibre of fights I've had. He hasn't got my experience so he's in for a bit of a shock if he goes toe-to-toe with me.

“I'm always good with orthodox fighters. I always find southpaws tricky but when it comes to orthodox I always think my defence is a lot better so I'm not worried about his right hand because they're the kind of shots that I do catch.

“He is good, he's smart and he's slick so I don't think it's an easy night but I think I've beat better, I think I've been in with a lot better and I don't think he's been in with my calibre and that's going to be a big factor on the night.”

Tyrone McKenna Pumped To Face Jose Felix on Conlan-Doheny Card

Tyrone McKenna is promising to deliver the same fireworks that he usually provides when he faces Jose Felix for the vacant WBO Intercontinental super-lightweight title on Friday.

McKenna (21-2-1, 6 KOs) returns to action against Felix (39-4-1, 30 KOs) on the Conlan Boxing and Top Rank event at Falls Park in Belfast later this week.

‘The Mighty Celt’ was originally due to face Zhankosh Turarov at the event, but a switch of opponent means he now has an extremely dangerous Mexican in front of him, with Felix having 30 knockouts in 39 victories.

The Belfast hero returns to action after competing in the Golden Contract tournament, and he’s set his sights on stealing the show at the Feile and going down as one of his country’s most exciting ever fighters.

McKenna said: “I’m buzzing. Not only is it just the Feile, but it’s basically the first event with crowds in the North of Ireland that people can attend.

“Belfast being a massive boxing city means the place will be rocking. The last Feile was unreal but I think this one will be more special with it basically being Belfast’s first night out after 18 months of lockdown.

“I’ve watched a few videos of my opponent and he’s what you expect, a tough Mexican. He has 30 knockouts which suggests he’s got some serious punching power, so I think it’s going to be a war.

“I’ve entered this full camp with war on my mind and its what I’m going to bring in the fight. I’m prepared to out-Mexican the Mexican. I don’t care if it steals the show but I know I’m going to entertain.

“My goal is to go down as one of Ireland’s most entertaining fighters and to do that I have to fight the hardest fights offered to me.”

Mckenna is food for Turarov. The Felix fight was a good fight but a blown up lightweight was really challenging him in there. A natural 140 in there would have beat him. tbh he is entertaning yet limited.
