Total safety issue. Once again

Re: Boxrec Endangering Boxers by Listing Seasoned Pros as Debut Pros
I will say that sounds like an awfully dumb reason to not accept a pro fight as being a pro fight. "We do not recognize this organization."
Since when has it ever been a record keepers authority to dismiss or accept an organization? Wouldn't it be easier just to write underneath the match "unsanctioned" instead of ignoring it altogether?

Yeh, cus sanctioned or not, a fight happened and people were punched in the face..HomicideHenry wrote: ↑04 Aug 2021, 17:31 I will say that sounds like an awfully dumb reason to not accept a pro fight as being a pro fight. "We do not recognize this organization."

It might make sense to not sanction certain organizations, there are rules and standards for boxing after all.HomicideHenry wrote: ↑04 Aug 2021, 17:31 Since when has it ever been a record keepers authority to dismiss or accept an organization? But BoxRec has several tabs now, including one that encompasses "pro fights that don't count on your pro record" so why not another tab for "Unsanctioned" or "Pro fights that don't count as pro fights"
At least a fighter's full known history would be recorded.

clearly it would be better to deal with this by adding an unsanctioned section to the record or just noting it at the side of the pro record (this function already exists)......instead of totally excluding it
i know in some of these cases the issue is that there is dispute that the fight ever actually happened, but in some cases it's 100 percent known that it did take place, and those fights should be indicated somehow

Re: Boxrec Endangering Boxers by Listing Seasoned Pros as Debut Pros
would have to come up with a universally recognized definition of "unsanctioned" I could invite people from the neighborhood over and put on gloves declare a winner and that could be a match, no?

Simplest definition would be a match where no commission was involved in the event.

ya the definition could be 'sanctioned by an official pro boxing commission, just not one that boxrec likes'
