I thought his semis fight with Marcial could have gone either way. Marcial landed the harder shots, while Khyzniak was more busier. Its the first time i saw Khyzniak in danger of losing. but he dig deep.DrDuke wrote: ↑05 Aug 2021, 03:24It looks especially surreal with Khyzhniak. The Ukrainian Tank was overwhelming everybody, like he has been always doing, and he got some splits.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑05 Aug 2021, 03:05 it's been really weird.......even fights that are one sided hammerings, much worse than that, there's continually been a judge to score it for someone who clearly got whooped

Re: 2020 Olympic Boxing
Marcial landed some good shots in the 1st, especially early on, then Khyzhniak definitely felt them, so it's an arguable round, but in the other two Khyzhniak was in almost total control.Miman wrote: ↑05 Aug 2021, 08:04I thought his semis fight with Marcial could have gone either way. That's about as much chance as people gave the USA hockey team of beating the Soviets in 1980.Steven Metro wrote: ↑04 Aug 2021, 14:27 Torrez has precisely no chance of getting a Gold for USA. The Former Soviet or Uzbek he is fighting already brutally KTFO Torrez like 1 year ago.
Torrez winning the Gold for USA VS Jalolov has about as much chance happening as Neil Armstrong walking on the Sun. Almost a literal impossibility.
Re: 2020 Olympic Boxing
i thought round 2 was almost similar to round 1 as well. khyznial was busier but a lot of his punches didnt land. while Marcial was cleaner and landed th harder shota. then again, its subjective. thats why it was split. I just thought Marcial run out of steam, he coudnt keep up with Khyzniaks pace. Khyzniaks superior condition would always prevail.DrDuke wrote: ↑05 Aug 2021, 10:18Marcial landed some good shots in the 1st, especially early on, then Khyzhniak definitely felt them, so it's an arguable round, but in the other two Khyzhniak was in almost total control.
Re: 2020 Olympic Boxing
Classy show by Ragan in defeat. Great effort. Excellent silver medal run. I need to get up to Cincinnati sometime and see him fight.
Re: 2020 Olympic Boxing
It seemed for me, that in the 2nd Khyzhniak wasn't troubled as much as in the 1st, while Marcial was backed up with Khyzhniak's punches more, so then it wasn't only about running out of gas, like in the 3rd. Anyway, Khyzhniak's pace is indeed his most important tool. His chin seems to be great too.Miman wrote: ↑05 Aug 2021, 11:04i thought round 2 was almost similar to round 1 as well. khyznial was busier but a lot of his punches didnt land. while Marcial was cleaner and landed th harder shota. then again, its subjective. thats why it was split. I'm going for the big upset.
Richard Torrez wins gold

Re: 2020 Olympic Boxing
Yeah let’s go!!!!
Re: 2020 Olympic Boxing
The middleweight semifinal between Bakshi (Russian) and Sousa (Brazilian) was excellent. I had the Brazilian edging it. He got the decision. Both showed excellent skill. Could see Sousa making professional noise.
Re: 2020 Olympic Boxing
GBR flyweight Yafai looked good in his semi victory over the KZ boxer, though he was getting lit up a bit in the 3rd.
Re: 2020 Olympic Boxing
He was totally outgunned in the 3rd. All judges gave him the 1st. It was 3:2 for the Kazakh in the 2nd. Eventually Yafai got a SD win, which meant, that some had given him the 3rd and it had been outrageous.
Re: 2020 Olympic Boxing
Definitely could have gone the other way, but I have no problem with the decision, overall.

He did put on two very entertaining fights, out classed, out sized, but not out worked.

keyshawn davis is looking excelen against a tricky almost running fowards opponent. Davis with smaller gloves in a few years could be a very fun addition to the current young guys 135 gang.

He already has 3 pro fights and even at the Olympics he brought some pro styled tricks. It looks like he indeed has a potential.gregregegg wrote: ↑06 Aug 2021, 01:43 keyshawn davis is looking excelen against a tricky almost running fowards opponent. Yea had that good attitude of getting your own back rather than waiting for the ref. when the guy threw him down he made sure he was on top. was willing to hit low, got hit late so hit back later.DrDuke wrote: ↑06 Aug 2021, 01:49He already has 3 pro fights and even at the Olympics he brought some pro styled tricks. did push the ref out of the way at one point though not a good stratergy when you need the odd favor from the ref somtimes. but definatly could be a player in the pros.

Someone needs to get this cuban defected and pro. he is electric.
Cruz vs keyshawn davis might be the best fight this olympics (in terms of quality fighters).

Take that back already, these two in there now are probably better. i think im just plesently suprised tuning into boxing at the medal end of the draw vs when i last realy watched in the early rounds...gregregegg wrote: ↑06 Aug 2021, 02:05 Someone needs to get this cuban defected and pro. he is electric.

La Cruz simply toyed with Gadzhimagimedov.

Re: 2020 Olympic Boxing
Good fight. Cruz won, but geezes the comentator is overstating how dominate it was.
- cruz won the first, but it wasnt insanely dominate with one judge giving it to the russian. (i thought it was clear though)
-cruz was toying with him in the 2nd, but got knocked down (was lucky it didnt get called a KD because it was).
- cruz edged the third very negitivly for me. (most judges gave it to the russian)
Cruz did have a massive skills advantage and is a phenominal tallent thats not up for debate, but that was somehow a close fight anyway.

Re: 2020 Olympic Boxing
In the first round La Cruz was economical, but still he managed to land a couple of good shots, while Gadzhimagomedov did literally nothing.
In the second La Cruz clearly outlanded Gadzhimagomedov. The KD moment was dodgy. The punch landed, but it didn't look hard, while it seemed like La Cruz stumbled at the ropes. There was similar stuff in his prvious fights.
In the third round La Cruz was the less effective, as he had already been up by 2 rounds, so he was killing time majorly.

Re: 2020 Olympic Boxing
basicaly how it went. But that knockdown although it clearly didnt hurt him, was still a knock down. hit him flush on the face while he was off balance and contributed to him falling down. KD every day of the week.DrDuke wrote: ↑06 Aug 2021, 02:45 In the first round La Cruz was economical, but still he managed to land a couple of good shots, while Gadzhimagomedov did literally nothing.

As i said cruz skills wise is unreal, and he did enough to win. for me it showed he is capable of a masterclass, but i dont think that was a masterclass.
