notable boxers without nicknames

Post by margaret thatcher »

i was thinking about this new royson barney smith kid, how his name is already a handful and a nickname would just make it more of a jumble

who are some boxers who never had nicknames catch on?

Lennox Lewis. I think they toyed with Lennox 'the Lion' Lewis but never heard anyone use that

Frank Bruno. Unless you count 'Big Frank Bruno. But that's not a real nickname.

Francesco Damiani. I'm not sure Italians are big on nicknames. Except Giusseppe 'the End' Lauri

Galaxy twins. I know they’re named after the gym but neither seemed to have a nickname.

Right. I mean it was actually recognised.

Ken Norton had three. None of them any good. The Black Hercules The Jaw Breaker The Fighting Marine

The answer is probably really obvious but who was the second? Chana and Songkram?

Henry Cooper was “our ‘Enery” (cringe) but it wasn’t really a fighting nickname, just want the tabloid press called him. I don’t know about his brother George / Jim Cooper…. Don’t think he had one.

Did Billy Hardy? It should’ve been ‘The Ginger Nut’ or something similar…..Loads of fighters either have no fight nickname or its rarely used

Cant recall David Price having an actual nickname apart from the couple Tyson Fury came up with in one interview - "Plumber from Liverpool" & "Big stiff idiot".
Oddly enough David Price never used them.
