albert is a funny one.........he doesnt really look all that good at anything in particular, but as a whole package he is very effective

he had some pretty good pro wins (for a guy with only 3 fights) already too

Best boxing day

Philippino small guy outboxed hometown fighter with some brilliant boxing. That proved his win over experienced Flissi was not accident.

Yafai won over tall kazakh, but it was far from his dominance over cuban Veitia. Boxed well in 1st, second was closer but i had it still for man from UK. Then kazakh went beastmode in last round, if he fought like this since start, he will win fight. Yafai won fair and square IMO.

Khyzniak vs Marcial should of been final. Had it really 50:50 after two rounds. Then Marcial faded a bit and man from ukraine took the last round. Khyzniak also took well two or three neck breaking shots from a guy who knocked out previous oponents. Constant pressure, exchanging big bombs, blood and sweat. If you did not liked this fight you are not boxing fan.

Sousa vs Bakshi was exactly opposite. One ugly fight with wrong winner. Not a total robbery, but Sousa did nothing to win. Hopefully Khyzniak will slaughter him in final. On the other side, ive expected more from Bakshi.

Batyrgaziev vs Ragan was brilliant final and boxing clinic. 3:2 decision is nonsense, russian won this with effective pressure behind tight guard, hitting upstairs and downstairs. Ragan had his moments woth a lot of sharp counters but it was not good enough. At the beginning of olympic, i thought he got a robbery win over frenchmen, but he did well since then. Well deserved silver, even more deserved gold.

It was worthy of the finale indeed. Marcial is better than Bakshi and Sousa, he is a better counterpuncher and hits harder, he was a worse matchup for Khyzhniak, yet still not enough to handle The Ukrainian Tank.

Oh, Khyzhniak will slaughter him. Bakshi fought an opponent's fight in 1/4 too. Khyzhniak always makes opponents to fight his fight. Sousa will be battered.

Great fight...the two of them will make great pros but Khyzniak won't be able to fight at that pace in the pros. Marcial had good power.

Big upset. Souza looked very dangerous and Ukrainian seemed to ignore defence. Great punch, legs wobbly, no problem with stoppage.

Well, the ref didn't even count. He could have done this acknowledging how the fight was going. Shades of Chavez-Taylor.

Yes maybe he should’ve done. But when the Ukrainian got up, his legs were wobbly

Hardly. The Loma hype didn't end with his pro-debut loss. Khyzhniak still has a potential to become a good pro. Imagine the Sousa rematch in pros in a few years.

Yeah but this loss was very idiotic, especially considering Sousa is nothing special

the hype was well deserved to be fair, 5 years unbeaten is some serious sh!t and he beat loads of good opponents in that span. he was up 2-0 in this final and so close to olympic gold, but that's boxing for you. you better not count on victory until it happens!

The ref sucked. He kept letting Khyzhniak punch Souza in the back of the head. On the KD, yes Khyzhniak was hurt but this is for the Olympic gold.....the ref should have least given the full count and watched Khyzhniazk to see if he recovered. The ref probably never boxed a day in his life.
I've enjoyed the boxing in these Olympics with the 10 pt must system vs the horrible computer scoring system used in Beijing and previous Olympics. At least now the boxers are letting their hands go but I have not been impressed with the referring.

his legs were unsteady but he had literally just stood up for not even a second, i think there shouldve been a count to see how he was with another 8 seconds

Great day of olympic boxing today.

Davis vs cruz is the best of em, true 50-50 for me.

know nothing about the 2 girls fights although i hope the irish girl wins and can go pro and be groomed for a mega fight with Katie taylor. and i hope price wins cause same thing could be done but for savana marshal...

super heavies is a tough ask for the american, but he has likely matured a lot since the last horrific time they met, still strongly favor the big uzbek.

Kallie Harrington brings the Gold in Ireland with a win over the Brazilian girl. Well-deserved. Kellie is a classy competitor.

Cruz was playing the cute stuff better but halfway through the round Davis starting throwing hurtful shots instead of points chasing, turned it around for him. Winner takes all third.
