Presumably the ref will be looking to jump in the moment Bennett is remotely wobbled “to protect the fighter”

But Babic will need to be half dead before he gets jumped in on.

Deffo.
Does them no favours down the line when refs will let hurt fighters carry on and they will then not know what to do.

Forget Babic’s Boxrec Cabbage nickname, if Bennett keeps on taking those punches he will soon be become Mark ‘the human cabbage’ Bennett.

Improve defence or retire….. a few low level opponent type paydays are not worth the potential retardation!

He's a brave, tough man, but that was hard to watch.

The Cabbage is a pub fighter. He wasn't even exciting today, contrary to the Matchroom hype. Two fat pub fighters were hustling, until the fatter one was done.

Yep if that counts as a pro fight they should probably update his record to 100+ and 0 because im sure he has smashed up more than a few drunk puddings while working as a bouncer.

Well…that certainly did NOT turnout to be the case.

Hahaha true ! I fcuked that prediction up … but to be fair it wasn’t competitive enough to require an early referee jump in. Bennett wasn’t a threat, so no need to for the ref to step in to “save the fighter from unnecessary punishment “

In this instance it suited the promotion to let the beating continue as the home fighter was under no threat ;)

Oh I am a cynical ba5tard

It's all a bit WWE/EastEnders. I'd say Wardley and even Johnny Fisher 3-0 probably bash up Babic.

Either get down to cruiser or fed him to Hrgovic. I think if Hrgovic has anything about him he walks through Babic in 2 maybe even 1 round.

Very good commentary from Chris Lloyd, easy on the ear, avoids cliches and calls the action as it is, a real professional, no overselling on the house fighters and the promoters.

Unlike the mostly hopeless Bellew, Laura the presenter was good as well. Even Darren was much better than usual alongside Lloyd.

Andy Lee is gradually improving, garbles his words sometimes, and he’s a bit reticent but he’ll get better…

I know he’s quite popular on here but what do people make of Andy saying that Babic is a European level fighter and very skilled ?

I've seen white-collar fights better than that rubbish. Babic has a bit of charisma and personality which is sustaining him. But that fight was embarrassingly poor for a professional bout.

Wardley will piece up Babic badly if he goes near him.

It's strange Dillian Whyte is his manager, is Hearn trying to keep Whyte sweet with this Babic stuff.

Mark Bennett hadn't fought in 20 months and is ranked outside the top 200 Heavyweights on boxrec. And it's a thin division.

Both managed by Whyte aren't they ? Can't see that happening tbh .
Substitute charisma for talking smack and swearing a lot , I just don't get it with Babic .

Yeah I don't really get it either. But for a fighter with his skillset he must/ will be earning well. I see him as a Dave Allen character. It's like only the heavies have this option.

At a higher level Chisora has had this kind of career. He has lost every big figt he's ever had, has a journeyman’s record, yet is a multi millionaire

I like Babic.
Hard to explain why, I'm a sweet science type.
It's probably because I'm so bored waiting for some/any heavies to just bloody fight each other that I'll watch Babic's pub carpark style and be grateful.
Kinda sad really.
Anyhow, one day a sub euro calibre guy will have Babic's number. Until then.. :box:

The babic experement is fun. But it was funner when he was progressing at a rapid rate. He fought winters in his 4th fight if it kept that trajectory it would of been excelent. all eyes were on Dave allen, price, some even looking higher.

Now he is fighting bennet for his 8th fight and its suddenly very unremarkable. Ill still enjoy it, but its very hard for me to get around the Gimmick of someone having hype and ego for beating guys welll outside the top 100.

Babic is the type of fighter that a loss shouldent kill the train. Id like to see him find his levle, work up till he gets beat, then take a small step back. Watching Bennett get brain damage does very little for me.

Yeah it’s difficult to take it seriously when he’s calling out Hrgovic who’s IBF no1 or 2 and then fighting 6-8 rounders against this standard.

Looking forward to seeing if he gets stepped up more steeply in the next 2 fights. You can’t say Mark Bennett is that much of a step up from Tom Little.

Its a Butterbean kind of thing, kept to his own level he will carry on winning. Once he steps up to a decent calibre of opponent he will get beat, but I find his fights enjoyable and they are an entertaining distraction on any bill

Good comparison. But they will have to move him up at some point, and he'll demand it. Then he'll get shown up I guess
