Of course people won’t fork out a tenner to ‘watch some titty bird’ but would people pay £7.99 a month to have a boxing show every week including Dillian Whyte (who gets 300k Ppv buys), Chisora, Conor Benn, likely Canelo and various others - they probably will as most causals don’t care who’s presenting.ShadrachSimmo wrote: ↑08 Aug 2021, 14:01It’s a tough sell even to the casuals. Most of whom would have had Sky for watching football thus boxing was already accessible. When they stick the price up by another fiver or whatever I think the subs will drop. They’ll not shell out a hard earned tenner just to watch some tidy bird talk sh1te to a matchroom yes man. Or maybe they will?maverick23 wrote: ↑08 Aug 2021, 13:48That won’t be the only reason but she’ll help in promoting the shows. 2.3m insta followers - a lot of which will be sports fans that may not know there’s boxing on DAZN.forcefraser wrote: ↑08 Aug 2021, 12:09 Is anyone really going to subscribe because Maya Jama is presenting? Why?
Porn Hub is free, if you wanna knock one out, watch that.
Box ticking pish. Does my nut in.
She’s a good presenter. Doesn’t have any boxing experience but she doesn’t need to so long as there are 2 experts there to debate things.
Joshua and Fury are the main draws for casuals and only on the PPV platform.
The issues they have at the moment are potentially the frequency of shows - there aren’t many on the horizon on DAZN. Hopefully with Canelo now being confirmed for November they can announce their shows in the US and they can get a few more U.K. shows confirmed.
They also need to get wider exposure to making people aware of the fights/DAZN. Jama helps pushing it on social but they need to get a linear broadcast partner to help promote it. Jama is well known so having her involved makes that easier.
The last 2 weeks have been tricky competing against the noise from the Olympics and next weekend will be tricky with it being the first weekend of the premier league. Hopefully they’ll be able to make a big go pushing the Warrington show with Katie Taylor and likely Conor Benn.
