Does anyone know the result of his fight with David Haye? I know Haye said he knocked out 6 of his teeth.

Just found out that Haye didn't box Romanchuk, he boxed someone called Roman Kovalchuk
Re: R.I.P Roman Romanchuk
He was a one of the most exciting amateurs ever and a one of the biggest wasted talents. He was technical, fast and hard-hitting, while he liked to brawl. He lacked dedication badly, for what life punished him severely.
In 2003 and 2004 he won a couple of international tournaments both times defeating in a final Odlanier Solis.

In 2004 he won Russian championship stopping Rakhim Chakhkiev in the final.

In 2005 he won Luis Ortiz with a score of 64:47!

Then he took the 2nd place in the World Cup at SHW. In 1/2 he outbrawled Roberto Cammarelle. In the final he lost to Solis in a competetive and action-packed bout.

In 2007 he won an international tournament defeating Clemente Russo in the final.

In 2007 he took the 2nd place in the Russian Championship losing in the final a war to Rakhim Chakhkiev.

During the final preparation to the 2008 Olympics in Vladivostok, Eastern Russia, where he went as the substitute to Chakhkiev, Romanchuk got in a drunken fight with some thug. Romanchuk was holding that guy from behind, the guy was drunk and got out a traumatic gun, tried to target it to Romanchuk, but shot himself in the head. With traumas suffered during this incident and after a year of detention, which was eventually overturned, Romanchuk was unable to contunue his boxing career. Officially he passed away from a heart attack, but, by the words of his trainer Mark Meltzer, it was caused by drugs.
Such a great talent was wasted so tragically.

Re: R.I.P Roman Romanchuk
russia has so many of these absolute studs who would've been interesting to see them pro
Re: R.I.P Roman Romanchuk
Romanchuk could be a great pro. If he was at Olympics instead of Chakhkiev, he would have taken Gold too. The 2008 tourney had a weak HW roster. Wilder was able to brawl to his Bronze. Usyk was robbed vs Russo by some opinions. Maybe he could do better against Chakhkiev than Russo, if he went further. Anyway, at that point Romanchuk was better than all of them. He won Chakhkiev twice at Russian tourneys and lost to him closely in the final pre-Olympic championship. He wasn't dedicated and the coaches didn't give him a chance. We know, what hapened next. And Chakhkiev wasn't ready for the pros eventually. I'm sure, Romanchuk would have been.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑11 Aug 2021, 00:52 russia has so many of these absolute studs who would've been interesting to see them pro
