i just dont think whittaker is good enough to be considered a meaningful win for any prospect, especially when he's ballooned up to 260. it meant nothing to me when adelye ko'd him or when webb iced him in 1 round, and it doesnt here. that's all
no doubt that johnny fisher is better than danny whittaker, he proved that. would like to see big johnny in with soko within a few fights. if he can dominate him, there's a real standout result for a prospect.
British heavyweight division has massive gulfs in it at the moment. You have the spuds like Whittaker, Healy and Bennett then fighters who are operating past British level. Joyce and Wardley both hold domestic belts and will give up straight away. Who does Fisher really fight that’s a big step up from those three I mentioned who where he won’t get pushed into a fight against someone who is too much for him?
Wardley should be fighting Del next and Fisher maybe… who the fornicate knows.

The plan is Southern Area belt then English the British etc. Think Sam Jones mentioned in interview.
Who is Southern Area champ
I’d imagine it’s vacant. Looking at the rankings the only guys with below your Wardley’s and Webb’s are journeymen or prospects still fighting 4-6 rounders. I’d imagine David Adeleye would be a reasonable candidate for one side of a vacant title fight but again he’s only fought 6 rounders.

fisher vs adeleye for the southern area title, id love it, but it happens when pigs fly
Yeah if it got ordered maybe after Fishers next fight then it only happens if neither back out but Fisher and Adeleye are getting a lot of exposure relative to their talent so there’s a lot to lose when they eventually do get beat.

In the good old days, they would bring in American journeymen and build him up to an eight/ten round fighter - why they can't do that now beats me? He doesn't have to go all in against Wardley and I certainly wouldn't put either of them against each other for another 2 years - bring in some big, durable Americans and let them build up their records.

I think that era of durable American journeymen is over. The days when America was the centre of the heavyweight universe is long gone. Especially when you can get Eastern Euro fighters, (both patsies and solid journeymen like Soko) at a far lower cost and not having to fly them trans Atlantic. Plus the covid restrictions. I doubt we'll see many Yank journeymen anymore.
They are still taking baby steps with Fisher, he is a young, inexperienced lad who has a lot of time to learn, learning which will be mostly done in the gym.
He is progressing steadily and is being looked after nicely.
Let's see if he has got it in him or not. Benn has come on tremendously, Hatton is still developing.
Joyce needs to drop the brittish and commonwealth. Then wardly drop the english and fight for the brittish. Leaving the english free for johny in a few fights time.
Joyce can still play with Euro while he waits for a title shot. Then Could make 3 fun fights.
-Wardly vs Gorman for birtish title
- Johny fisher vs Adeley for english title
-somthing fun for commonwealth too. Efe vs DDD mabey.....
Fantsy land but the point remains, currently those three belts are being wasted because the person in possession of thems carrer is past them.
Yeah - I’m not sure why Joyce hasn’t given up the British or been stripped as he’s clearly not going to defend it. British titles should be being fought for at least every 6 months.
No need to rush Fisher… he’s young and has plenty of time. I think Healy is southern champ to be the next logical fight….
He has okay skills but he’s 5 stone overweight so gets gassed out quick.

Wardley asking for Joyce to vacate isn't great. He should be calling him out.
No he shouldent, it wouldent be real and everyone would see through it.
Unless you think the fight should happen.... in which case, Wardly had a few white colar fights, and is now a prospect fighting around brittish levle. Joe is an olympic medalist (should be gold), who is a full on contender, and one of the hardest fights in the division.... you want wardly to skip about the 10 learning fights he needs to be on that levle because he wants the brittish title, im all for big moves but thats beyond reckless.

Yes. It should be the mindset of any prospect. Nobody has ambitions to wait for people to vacate. It wouldn't happen anyway but would sound good. I'll always remember David Price saying whilst he was British champion that he'd be ready for Wlad in "a few years". Johnny Nelson said later he thought it was odd. Fury said Wlad was useless at the same time.

all these guys are way more likely to fight someone from their own stable
really, the most realistic talk is fisher vs dacres, or something like wardley-babic
And then the winner of the inter stable championship will be let loose against whoever(with a rematch clause and a promotional arrangement for whoever) #boxing

Not too impressed to be honest.
Might be another Scott Gammer
Gammer had boxed since he was a kid and was 4 nations champ, Fisher still has a lot of improving to do to win a British title.
I had a boxing KO's video on last night on the TV while I was chilling out which has greats like Arguello, Marciano, Louis, Holmes and more on it and out of nowhere a Scott Gammer KO was on there lol. I almost spat my tea out. timestamped it here

Haha, good KO, actually watching in slow motion showing his variety of punches and putting them together shows his amateur pedigree. He was quite punch perfect.
