My personal list of the top 15 prospects - will our list look like this one day? Or better question is - how many of them will make it to the list? (How I rank them here is a mix of their current stage/abilities and their future potential)

lots of these fighters i would not consider prospects.

Joyce is a 35 year old contender

Kabayel has been a pro for 10 years

Frank sachez is 29 going on 40 and has 18 pro fights.

Trev bryan is in his 30s over 20 pro fights.

Even some of the others like tony and efe and makuhmudov are borderline not prospects.

Yes, i'm using a loose definition of a ''prospect'' here. These are fighters, whose full potential is still to be exposed.

Iโ€™d have Hughie Fury on the list
loss to Parker when he was 22 and pulev when he was 23.
Still Only 26 and unlike most of others has put his balls on the line

his best win is probably 40 year old mariusz wach, i wouldnt put him on there just for losing to well known names. gotta actually deliver

youve underaged him in those fights btw. and despite the whole 'he's just a baby' thing, he's really shown no signs of improvement. his best losing showing was the first one to parker. then vs pulev he basically stopped fighting after a cut and lost 9 rounds or so. then vs pov, same old story of not letting his hands go when faced with a live opponent

the constant mention of his age is stale until he actually shows any sign that he's getting better. keep in mind he turned pro really young , wouldnt be surprised if he burns out at an earlier age than most

Whoโ€™s Jalovov or Justis Huni (for example) beaten thatโ€™s better than Wach Guinness Sexton Rudenko.
Vykhryst is 29 With no wins anywhere near Hughie.

I know what youโ€™re saying - his best performances have kind of been in defeat. But if youโ€™re going on wins then heโ€™s got bigger wins than a lot of those guys.

if you mean the prospect list sure, although prospects are generally much more speculative, as theyre usually at early stages of their career. hughie's been a pro, what, almost a decade now.

i thought you meant the normal top 15 world ratings

My bad - Sorry - He turned 23 5 days before fighting Parker (so he wasnโ€™t 22).
He turned 24 a month before fighting Pulev.

Hard to disagree that he could burn out without really kicking on though. Donโ€™t think heโ€™s the future of the division, but Iโ€™d have him in that top 15 list

No mate - that prospect list.

Yes heโ€™s been pro a long time but everyone takes a different journey. Some stay amateur some go pro early.

Being honest of that list thereโ€™s probably only a couple of genuine prospects when it comes to eliete world title holders. The rest just make up the 15

He isn't included because I think that his full potential is already known, verified in multiple fights (Parker, Pulev, Povetkin).

Once you lose are you really a prospect you found your levle. Sure you can still improve, but you know where you are. Wild 1 shot Kos kinda excluded.

Generally yes, but it's different if someone is aged 23 like Dubois (though I think that he's not going to improve a lot).

at what point does hughie's age stop having ppl classify him as a prospect

he is turning 27 in a month. like, does he get cut off at 30 if he doesnt prove anything extra by that time?

for me, he's a fringe contender whose level is already pretty clear. prospects are more guys who are impressive to a certain lower level, but who we're yet to really know so much where they stand at the high levels

Part of the problem with boxing . Too many fighters looking to keep their 0 and too much emphasis on it resulting in prospects fighting nobodies.

Hughie couldโ€™ve avoided challenges against Parker, Pulev and Povetkin and be sat at 25-0 now.

Of those 15 prospects, realistically will any of them dethrone the top guys in the division and become the future champion if the top guys donโ€™t retire ?

Fury 33
Joshua 31
Whyte 33

Depends when they retire. Obviously eventually all the young guys would beat this lot. But weather itโ€™s in 3 years or 7 years itโ€™s hard to say.

I donโ€™t think itโ€™s a bad thing to lose early, but itโ€™s is in most peopleโ€™s eyes.

Hugie is the best example. 3 world levle losses befor 25, to me that dosent put him below any other guy his age. Or DDD lost to big joe, big joe smashes most of the top 15..

problem with hughie is there's really no middle ground

he has 3 losses to top 10 opponents.........and then his best win is, what,. 40 year old marisuz wach?

gotta get a better win instead of just being the new 'loser to the stars'

dub at 23 at is 3-4 years younger than hughie and been a pro for like 4-5 less years, he's not quite as advanced in his career and hasnt stepped up as many times. more in line with the prospect stage

btw....hughie turning pro much earlier than normal for a hw will have put him ahead of the other guys his age for several years now, but i dont think it really has any bearing on where theyll eventually end up. it flatters him IMO and is largely a function of simply getting a head start.

i'd rather have dubby in than oscar rivas

although its one of those annoying situations where putting him over rivas would also put him over a guy i think ranks above dubs (egg yolk)
