If Pacquiao beats Ugas, then should he be rated higher than Crawford?

Post by Enlightened-One »

Assuming Manny Pacquiao emerges victorious from the bout he’s scheduled to compete in ten days time...

• The Filipino legend would have defeated the following opponents at welterweight within the last four years: Lucas Matthysse, Adrien Broner, Keith Thurman and Yordenis Ugas.

• To perform a comparison over the equivalent timeframe, Terence Crawford would have fought the likes of: Jeff Horn, Jose Benavidez Jr., Amir Khan, Egidijus Kavaliauskas and Kell Brook.

Therefore, do you feel that Manny Pacquiao would deserve to be rated above Terence Crawford at 147lbs, based on the calibre of opposition they’ve faced over the last four years?

Thoughts? :-?

Defiantly . He is not better, but that would be the best welter weight win between them (if you exclude p4p Goat Jeff "the Hornet" horn).

Mabey, i got a little astrix next to thurman. At the time he was kinda the 3rd top welter, but also kinda injury prone and past prome. I know he isnt old years wise. but he has old man joints....without fighting after only increases my doubt around it..

If you were to put 2019 thurman vs current ugas id bet on ugas. That said i know nothing about his mediacal issues.

either way it would be 2 wins better than any of craw's at welter, that would obivously be a good argument to rate pac higher than craw....and of course pac has the better welter resume overall too. but i do think craw would beat him handily.....though he's gotta actually f@cking do it for that to mean anything

signing with pbc and fighting porter next would be a great move, i think i heard it rumored that that is in play

Craw beats current manny. Mannys entire welter weight resume kills craws but thats unfair. Just going from the time that craw moved up mannys resume is still better, and half that times been in his 40s...

Yes, but if Crawford never faces a half-decent welterweight, then should we reward him for never achieving anything notable at 147lbs regardless his talent/potential?

It's not though is it? Pacquaio not only fought better opposition, but he also signed the Top Rank contract to face Crawford, but Terence himself refused to sign the same paperwork.

Yes, Manny's resume at 147lbs for the last four years is better than Crawford's. Even without beating Ugas.
