Dont get me wrong, good stop, and im glad they keep em down and get em oxygen, top stuff. But, would he of tried to get up? would he of made it up? it would of got waved anyway seeing as he was behind and no belt on the line.
If that were a world title fight and they were even on the cards you would like to give him the 10 seconds there.

Showed Buatsi’s tough, has a second wind if needed but shouldn’t have been drained so much, can take a shot but it also showed some of his areas of weakness. Really needs to work on his defence and head movement.
Reminded me a little of Haye/Fragomeni. One or two fights at a similar level and then Bivol.
Hope he does get a bit more experience before Bivol.
Re: Round-by-Round: Joshua Buatsi vs. Ricards Bolotniks - 14 August 2021
It was a pretty even round, the 11th, as Buatsi's work rate dropped but you still always got this ominous feeling that he had the edge in power and he would be the one who might end it any moment, not Bolotniks, for all his staying-power, although I did think it was going to go the distance...

Enjoyable fight, proper test for JB.
Re: Round-by-Round: Joshua Buatsi vs. Ricards Bolotniks - 14 August 2021
I thought Bolotniks would really trouble Buatsi but either he doesn't punch as hard as his reputation or Buatsi has a great chin, to be fair he landed some cracking bodyshots and Buatsi didn't flinch .
Re: Round-by-Round: Joshua Buatsi vs. Ricards Bolotniks - 14 August 2021
Buatsi's chin is froch-like. It could take him to the top(along with his power).

Would Buatsi beat Callum Smith?

Re: Round-by-Round: Joshua Buatsi vs. Ricards Bolotniks - 14 August 2021
Joshua Buatsi had to dig really deep during a highly-competitive fight to stop a very decent journeyman boasting a 33% KO ratio, that had previously failed to win 25% of his bouts.
The Brit needs to work on his conditioning, pacing and head movement.
Buatsi’s handlers will surely apply the brakes, by refraining to pit him against genuine world-rated talent for the time being.
Joshua has far too much to learn to be rushed.
Credit to Bolotniks though, he defied my expectations and exposed Buatsi’s current ceiling.

Fvck sake ref give the guy a count, great fight though, a real gut check for Buatsi, had to dig deep there, Bolotniks is one hard bastard, the punches he stood up to were flush, always fired back with hard punches of his own, Buatsi wide open for they winging shots, especially the right he took in the 1st,, he boxed well though behind the jab, got to work, dropped Bolotniks with a peach of a left hook in the 6th but emptied the the tank going for the finish and Bolotniks was on top by the 7th digging some big shots to the body as well as the haymakers
In fairness to Buatsi even when he gassed he kept his composure and worked hard to not to allow Bolotniks to get on top, he recovered and walked Bolotniks down, started to target the body more and then finished Bolotniks off with a big right in the 11th, still would've liked to have seen a count

Great win for Buatsi.
He wobbled for a moment there, almost punched himself out, but he got the second wind and a stoppage.
He's almost there, but Fast Eddie put it very well there - he needs hard fights to be ready for Bivol, Beterbiev,Smith.

Definitely not yet. Smith is rangy enough, and experienced enough to keep Buatsi off.

No, there was no point in Bolotniks taking any more, he had already proved his bravery beyond what was healthy and he wasn't going to win.gregregegg wrote: ↑14 Aug 2021, 18:08 Dont get me wrong, good stop, and im glad they keep em down and get em oxygen, top stuff. Thankfully a great headliner saved an otherwise dreadful card .

Buatsi looks tiny compared to Smith Jr, Callum Smith, Anthony Yarde...
Doesn't seem to be a problem tho'

Really? I don’t think he tools that many clean headshots.
I think something is missing from Buatsi and at least at this point he doesn’t trouble the champs. I think Joe Smith, the weakest, would stop him

I must be missing something with Bivol , don't look unbeatable to me .JamesPhilips wrote: ↑14 Aug 2021, 18:16Really? I don’t think he tools that many clean headshots.

This is how I saw it. I dont think it was an impressive performance. He was blowing after round 6 against a tough journeyman type with short arms who shouldn’t have been reaching him. Buatsi is missing somethingEnlightened-One wrote: ↑14 Aug 2021, 18:12 Joshua Buatsi had to dig really deep during a highly-competitive fight to stop a very decent journeyman boasting a 33% KO ratio, that had previously failed to win 25% of his bouts.

100% spot on!
An unusually weak card from Matchroom.
DAZN in the UK won’t succeed if Matchroom keep producing subpar content.
Eddie Hearn and the DAZN head honchos will probably realise the need to stack their cards in the future, whenever they can only got a main event headlined by a borderline fringe top-ten world-rated contender.

Smith would stop him on this performance I think

Exactly , can you imagine pulling in casual observers based on the last 3 weeks ?Enlightened-One wrote: ↑14 Aug 2021, 18:19100% spot on!

I don't think this has gone well for DAZN to be honest and I also agree Matchrooms cards are generally solid .

Give the guy a count ? I agree in principle, but not in this case, Bolotniks was definitely done from what I could see. He was near horizontal for a good 5 mins afterward.handsofstone wrote: ↑14 Aug 2021, 18:12 Fvck sake ref give the guy a count, great fight though, a real gut check for Buatsi, had to dig deep there, Bolotniks is one hard bastard, the punches he stood up to were flush, always fired back with hard punches of his own, Buatsi wide open for they winging shots, especially the right he took in the 1st,, he boxed well though behind the jab, got to work, dropped Bolotniks with a peach of a left hook in the 6th but emptied the the tank going for the finish and Bolotniks was on top by the 7th digging some big shots to the body as well as the haymakers

I'm going to say both Smiths for now. Joe for the KO, and Callum for a reasonable points win.

joe smith is like a super charged bolotniks
callum a more balanced guy
buatsi imo is world class talent but he shouldnt fight either guy next. plus theyll be looking to build callum at 175 more. also top rank has their own plans for joe that i doubt have anything to do with buatsi unless he becomes mando

btw joe cordina looks solid, but just on the surface seems like they dont have much of a plan for him other than to just throw him on random undercards as filler, bringing over an unknown 10-3 american just seems kinda 'no direction'
