Moments in boxing that you thought were bad ass.

Post by jameswilson »

Seen Vasily Jirov mentioned in another thread and it reminded me of his fight with James Toney where they had a superb final round and after the final bell Toney stands and stares at Jirov in a boss way.

Another moment I remembered recently was Casimeiro’s first knockdown of Charlie Edwards. He sends Edwards down with a left hook and before Edwards’s backside touches the ground gestures to his corner by raising his hand and smiling. A real boss move.

Benn v McClellan stare down while the red gave his instructions was scary.

What are the moments in boxing you watched and thought ‘Jesus that’s next level that.’

More recently ...Canelo vs GGG rematch. Canelo got hit with a big right hand, audience went wild. Then Alvarez avoided like 15 punches in matrix like fashion. My favorite badass moment in recent fights. :box:

Charlo smashing Lubin in first round in battle of unbeatens seems underrated by fans for me.

Tyson Fury singing after Wilder rematch.

Anyway, boxing is a badass sport :box: :box: :box: :box: :box: :box: :box: :box:

Well this is British and Irish, so how about the final round where George Groves, with his shoulder out, one handed beat Chris Eubank Jr?
I mean, that was a bad arse (I refuse to use the American vernacular here) fight anyway, but to go out one armed and win against a beast like Eubank Jr was totally bad arse

Tyson Fury promising to KO Wilder and beating him up badly.

Chisora's monologue and the following table throw at the Whyte press-conference.

Riddick Bowe's hooks to Larry Donald's face at the pre-fight presser. Also, Bowe's pre-fight wars against Jorge Luis Gonzalez and beating him up badly during the bout itself.

Mike Tyson on many occasions, especially his monologue with a guy from the crowd at the pre-Lewis event.

James Toney and Ricardo Mayorga everywhere.

Bobby Vanzie punching a hole in the dressing room window and then, live on Sky, threatening to get Terry O' Connor "sorted out" after Big Tel robbed him blind against Graham Earl.
Michael Gomez bouncing in to the ring against Arthur in front of a hostile sell out crowd then sticking it straight on AAA in the first.
Lloyd Honeyghan hitting his opponent for trying to get off his stool to begin the round. .

With all the calling rounds in fights, crazy Tommy doesn't get more love for this one. At the weigh in Duran said I'm going to kill you and hearns replied I'll drop you in 2.

That was a brilliant fight. I forget which knockdown it was as there were so many in that fight but he straight up lifted Briggs off his feet with one of the knockdowns.

Never seen that wow. Go to 14:00...... I hadn't remembered they boxed. Drayton was a tough man but was just asking for it..... standing there right in front of Julian (prob the least fitting first name for a deadly banger, except maybe Sebastian lol  )

Also does anyone else get really nostalgic when they see the 80s style graphics and even picture definition? I know today's may be 'better' but for some reason I love the older style stuff. I think it's just the warmth of nostalgia from when I discovered boxing.....

I think it is nostalgia, I feel the same, the theme music, the commentators, that feeling of excitement for the big fight
