- Ugh, ugly, ugly fight vs yet another ugly Cubano stinker after last Saturday's stinkfest.

In Manny's 4th decade of boxing after having been scheduled for his umpteenth P4P Classic vs Spence, thanks to the WBA Cretins and Uncle Al we get this butt ugly stinker.

So much for signing up for PBC to fight the best. After clearing out the Haymon stables with Spence as Haymon's last bankable welter bauble, they move the goalposts and change the rules. And you boys wonder why Boxing continues to lose market share to UFC.

Ugh, and now Manny double damned by the infamous Ring curse with 19 of the 20 "experts" picking him over the Cubano stinker who ain't yet decided if he's a floater or a sinker...ugh...

You seem dumb.

Spence dropped out….a new opponent was needed at the last minute….they brought in a top 10 guy in the division…what more do you want….the other option was probably complete cancellation.

Sheesh.

- You duh and dumber, and stinker too :TU:

The only option ever considered was complete orchestration. Spence, Manny, and Ugh just movable game pieces to boxing honchos who enjoy dumbing down boxing to your inner Ugh :TU:

I'm more stoked about Ugas over Spence.
I'm a Pacquiao fan, and didn't want to watch Spence pulverising the brave wee fella.
I think Ugas is a better closer fight.

Can someone explain to me how Ugas by stoppage is paying 15-1... seems epic vaule. manny is old as time, theres a chance he has lost his reflexes and is very very sub prime. Sure he might wind back the clock and be excelent, but ill take a 15-1 that pac has faded wayyyy past prime. Bellew Haye style, or Povetkin whyte II or .... plenty of guys get old quick.

I am game for risking a C-note on that.

Nevada Commission Assigns Familiar Panel Of Judges

Referee: Russell Mora Jr.

Judges
Dave Moretti (Nevada)
Patricia Morse (Nevada)
Steve Weisfeld (New Jersey)

-----------------
The Nevada State Athletic Commission has assigned the same panel of veteran judges to a main event for the third time in less than three months.

Boxing Scene has been informed that the NSAC approved two Nevada-based judges, Dave Moretti and Patricia Morse Jarman, and New Jersey’s Steve Weisfeld to score the Manny Pacquiao-Yordenis Ugas fight Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena. The NSAC also has chosen Russell Mora Jr. as the referee for their 12-round welterweight championship match.

The Philippines’ Pacquiao (62-7-2, 39 KOs) will challenge Cuba’s Ugas (26-4, 12 KOs) for the WBA “super” 147-pound crown that was stripped from him late in January due to his inactivity. Ugas replaced unbeaten IBF/WBC champ Errol Spence Jr. on less than two weeks’ notice because Spence suffered damage to his right retina that required surgery August 11.

The trio of Moretti, Morse Jarman and Weisfeld also worked the Devin Haney-Jorge Linares match May 29 and the Vasiliy Lomachenko-Masayoshi Nakatani bout June 26.

Morse Jarman and Weisfeld scored Las Vegas’ Haney a 116-112 winner over Venezuela’s Linares in their 12-round fight for Haney’s WBC world lightweight title at Mandalay Bay’s Michelob ULTRA Arena. Moretti had Haney-Linares slightly closer, 115-113 for Haney.

Ukraine’s Lomachenko stopped Japan’s Nakatani in the ninth round of a one-sided, non-title bout at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.

Moretti and Weisfeld had Lomachenko in front by the same score, 80-71, when their fight was stopped. Lomachenko was ahead 78-73 on Morse Jarman’s card when their scheduled 12-rounder ended.

This also will be the fifth time in Pacquiao’s past seven fights that Moretti will have been one of the judges. Moretti, who worked his first Pacquiao fight in March 2005, most recently scored Pacquiao a 115-112 winner against Keith Thurman in Pacquiao’s 12-round, split-decision win in July 2019 at MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Weisfeld last worked a Pacquiao fight in April 2016, when he scored the Filipino legend a 116-110 winner against Timothy Bradley in their third fight at MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Morse Jarman has not judged any of Pacquiao’s 71 professional fights.

Moretti and Morse Jarman were also assigned to the third Tyson Fury-Deontay Wilder fight, which was postponed from July 24 until October 9. Nevada’s Tim Cheatham will be the third judge when England’s Fury and Alabama’s Wilder fight for Fury’s WBC heavyweight title at T-Mobile Arena.

Mora, meanwhile, will officiate his second Pacquiao bout. He was the third man in the ring when Pacquiao soundly defeated Adrien Broner by unanimous decision in their 12-round welterweight title fight in January 2019 at MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Ugas is a favourite of course but I wouldn't be shocked if Pacquiao wins (especially if by robbery).

Imagine how much activity this thread would have if Spence had not been forced to dropout.

This should still be a great fight, likely better than it would have been v Spence.

Manny Pacquiao’s fight against Yordenis Ugas will be the 22nd time he’s competed in Las Vegas.

The Cuban has only previously engaged in five fights in Las Vegas.

This will be the twelfth time Dave Moretti has judged a Manny Pacquiao fight. He controversially favoured Manny Pacquiao over Juan Manuel Marquez in the scoring of their third bout.

Dave Moretti has only previously judged one Yordenis Ugas fight.

This is essentially a hometown fight for Manny Pacquiao.

There is no doubt that Ugas must make an emphatic statement in this fight to get the decision.

Of course. It’s always the case.

The better the fight the more activity.

But the fact that it’s Pac, it’s not too bad.
