The Sky sports boxing presenters

Post by rhino222 »

have they reached the end of the road? Has hearn moving to DAZN ended the pundit careers of Nelson, Woodhouse and Macklin etc?

Personally i would rather have Macklin over at DAZN. I dont feel they have the right man in Bellew. His dialogue is too predictable and he struggles to remain neutral.

I quite like Macklin and I’d be just as happy with him instead of Andy Lee.

Bellew was completely biased in some of the Sky shows involving his mates but he hasn’t been biased so far on DAZN. I thought he was fine on the Dickens fight and actually gave some insight from being around his team. I’ve no problem if he carries on like that. He also has a much bigger profile that Matt Macklin which is something needed doing what they’re trying to do.

Let’s wait to see Sky Boxing’s announcement re: future U.K. shows before fully writing off the team. Adam will be on a salary so he’ll be on every show they do and US shows they want a U.K. voice on but I’d have thought the rest will be freelance. Anna’s a good presenter so could easily cover other sports or present the Sports News show.

Streaming and PPV is the future for all but the ‘big’ sports. Goodbye Sky Sports boxing, its awful biased team, and most of all Adam Smith, you won’t be missed….

Smith commentating last weekend on the pacman fight ,, really did give me the shits , it spoiled the fight for me , I usually like to listen to the commentary and if its bad or i don't agree i can live with it ,, BUT Smith was just so over the top , even my missis watching with me said , who is that guy , he's watching a different fight ,

The discision was fair , bo arguments from me , but the way he carried on i thought Paccy should of been getting belted pillar to post ,, alls you could here was , lovely right hand , that over the top right is working when they were took on the gloves , at one stage paccy threw 3-4 they all got took on the gloves then he took 3-4 on the gloves no score , but he's carry on like Paccy had just been ko'd , he.s just really really bad , and Macklin was licking his arse agreeing with his rubbish ,, if you listened to Smith Paccy got hammered , it was competetive , but Paccy lost the other guy was just too big and this time round it showed But paccy certainly did'nt get clobbered

Smith knows nothing about boxing. That’s always been clear. He picks a fighter early then ignores the other one.

BTW did Sky fly Adam Smith out or was he commentating from a studio?

Match room and FW have 95% of the talent so a promoter with deep pockets has to come in. Don't see it happening for a while, talk of sunderland but thats pretty dead atm

I actually think Woolhouse was a pretty decent presenter and I suspect she’ll be able to fit into any other sport pretty well.
I suspect they didn’t take her across to DAZN as they wanted a completely fresh look to their presentation.
Smith is an awful commentator and I agree with coneye, he was appalling on Saturday night.
Bellew is pretty irritating but Evan just about tolerate him.
Macklin is OK but probably no better than Barker or Andy Lee.
To be honest, most presenters and commentators in sport can be fairly irritating and I’m sure Mike Costello will cop some flak in time…

IT has always been a mystery to me how Smith got and maintained his position.

Will sky now do a deal with another promoter leaving Smith to roll on?

If you look at a talented commentator such as Ian Darke, he has easily transferred to other sports, but does Smith have the capacity to do that?

McCrory ended up getting blackballed but is still doing less lucrative things like BKB, for me I don't know what avenues he has.

Nevertheless he was always less likely to become Sky's British Boxing boss than say president of the USA, so to that extent it wouldn't surprise me if he gives Biden and Trump a run for their money next time round!

I dont agree (nothing personal mate) but Bellew couldnt resist having a sly dig about Kid galahads alleged historical drug issue. If you have something to say on tv then have the balls to say it, dont think you are clever enough to hide your dig in a spoken sentence then think people dont realise.

It may have been a dig but it’s true. Kid failed a drugs test and served his time. Perhaps Bellew wouldn’t have mentioned it with Fury or Whyte but I don’t hold it against him.

He was quick to give Kid props post fight, gave a fair reading of the fight and DAZN were sensible enough not to let him score the fight.

Fellas, I'm not sure how this works.
I have Sky in NZ, but the commentary is often different from what you lot get in the UK.
For a PBC card shown ln Sky Sports, I usually get "Sweet Baby" Ray Flores-who is not only hopeless at knowing if a punch lands or not, but his voice is inignorably piercing.
Then for the DAZN stuff on Sky, I get a mix of either Sky commentary, or occasionally DAZN.
So when we are doing a RBR, it's often way different what I'm hearing, and what you lot are complaining about. :maybe:

All the second level sports. Top level will stay on mainstream TV. Low level not enough people are interested to make it ppv stream. Although who knows if it's cheap enough. The list below is a few ideas to start, not definitive.

Top level
Football (soccer for yanks)
Tennis (at least slams)
American Football
Darts in UK

Medium
Boxing
MMA

Low
Netball
Turkish oil wrestling (though prob medium level if Turkey)

I don’t think any of that makes any sense.
UFC is cashing in and reliant on TV despite a very strong and matured app.

I can’t think of one sport that is entirely reliant on streaming for its customer base in the way Matchroom Boxing is (apart from its two biggest stars of course….)

Good question , answer I don't know , but he was with Macklin i would assume it was studio , Macklin was,nt too bad but he was definetly being a yeas man and agreeing with Smith , that was a good competetive fight , probably the right man won , but Paccy was busy just could'nt get through a tight defence on a bigger man with enough real quality shots , but then again this big devastating right hand which was killing Paccy according to Smith was 90 % on the arms has well ,,

It really was a case of a 43 year old who's feet have slowed down and has'nt fought for a while ,, meeting a bigger stronger man , but definetly was'nt one sided

I'm surprised Woolhouse didn't go to DAZN. If only because her and Laura Woods is basically a chance to wank between the boring undercard bouts.

Plus she's much more informed than the bimbo Maya Jama who clearly knows next to eff all about boxing or anything other getting her kit off on Instagram which she's world class at.

The show itself was very good. Where we would get a women’s 8 rounder first, here you had a really competitive top ten in the world match up..
Commentary wise I can’t believe they never stressed the simple summation that Ugas’ size could only really be negated by PAC cutting down the distance with fast effective work, slipping inside etc which he was simply not quick enough to do anymore.
He did have some spells where he rattled off a few combos but he looked very upright, and they looked a bit pitter patter...

It doesn't matter whether it's streaming or tele based, you can still be biased. Just cause a platform is streaming based doesn't mean its not biased In its commentary

True but Sky bias is legendary. Plus no other channel would ever hire Adam Smith and he’s the worst protagonist of all. Also he knows zero about boxing. After what 30 years in the business!?!??? At least those other dippy birds have an excuse but Smith should’ve picked something up in 3 decades. Apart from ‘Morales Barrera” anyway

Adam Smith has easily been the worst thing in British boxing by a country mile for decades. With the advent of other stations and broadcasts its a godsend. I watched the Pac fight with different commentators thankfully.literally anyone other than Smith is a plus,he's that bad. He will not be missed at all and when he does get the fk out of boxing there will be many a celebration at no longer having to listen to the turd

Well I doubt they wanted the anorexic old slag and her blow job signals. Maybe Jama covers more bases and is also known outside of boxing.
