Deontay Wilder vs Ernie Shavers

If Shavers was able to land on 2 of the greatest, both being far quicker and agile than Wilder,he can land on him. When he lands,it's done.
Wilder can flop around like he does but I think Shavers finishes the 1st clean punch he lands

Two guys without much boxing skills and with a great punching power. Anything could happen.

Either could knock out the other if they land. Wilder probably lands first and wins more often than Shavers does. He might be very cautious too like he was in the 1st Stiverne fight.

Joe.Kelly wrote: 22 Aug 2021, 20:25 I pick Wilder by early round stoppage. That's because he has massive height, reach, and long-range power punching advantages over Shavers. Add to this that Wilder may have a hand speed advantage here, and he definitely has the ability to punch accurately, and it's hard to see Shavers remaining on his feet for too long.

Of course, if Shavers could land the first serious punches, then we'd be looking at a different outcome, maybe. But I really can't see Earnie - who was six inches shorter than Wilder - getting close enough to connect with his bombs. Wilder would be the first to connect here, and he'd do it with his heavy artillery.

Wilder by stoppage anywhere between the 1st and 5th rounds.
The guys like Duhaupas and Molina were able to trouble Wilder, before he landed his best shots on them, so Shavers shouldn't be underestimated, as it proposed by the comments of this thread. Yet I lean towards Wilder a bit more as well. After all, he has an ability to use his range indeed and his best punches are thrown from there, so Shavers could have troubles while trying to get closer.

Much as I like Earnie, and I rate him as a harder puncher than Wilder regardless of what pundits and experts say, but Wilder most likely would've got to him first and stop him early.

If Shavers were to win he'd have to throw everything but the kitchen sink, going full bore, knowing full well he'd gas himself out, and try to make the skinny Wilder double over with body shots.

It's possible, but unlikely Shavers could do it. I'm not even sure Earnie ever fought a man 6'5"+, that's something to look up. I don't like Wilder at all, but he'd most likely win against Earnie Shavers.

Now had you said Ron Lyle.... I'd be going with Ronnie all day :TU:

Obviously just about anything can happened in a Earnie Shavers fight. However, I think more often not Shavers would win. Both were huge punchers, but Shavers is the hardest.

This could be just a matter of who hit who first. Shavers was much more aggressive than Wilder and threw many more punches. The odds are that he is going to land a big one first because of the sheer volume of his punches.

Shavers had very underrated boxing skills. The only issue he ever truly had was his stamina, some said it was a lack of heart but that's not it, the man basically fought with one eye at some point of his career. Shavers was able to land body to head combinations on big names like Ali and Holmes that Wilder could only ever dream of landing in training.

Despite the height difference I still see Shavers completely destroy wilder, especially if he's able to make him stuck to the ropes but yet again one big punch by Wilder and it's probably over.

Gotta say I would pay a lot to watch that one.

Either Shavers by early round KO or Wilder late round KO would be the best scenario.
