Manny Pacquiao: "Ugas one of my easiest opponents..." despite defeat!!!

Post by Enlightened-One »

"ONE LAST FIGHT? Manny Pacquiao considering Yordenis Ugas rematch in January as he brands Cuban ‘one of my easiest opponents’ despite defeat"

Manny Pacquiao has revealed that he is considering taking a rematch with Yordenis Ugas in January, following his defeat on Saturday night.

The legendary eight-weight world champion was upset by the crafty Cuban, who made him look his age at 42 and outboxed him for a unanimous decision win.

In the immediate aftermath, Pacquiao hinted at retirement.

Three days later, he has not ruled this out, but is also thinking about one last fight.

Pacquiao told The Athletic: “Yes, I can come back in January. I will see about it.

“I know I can rematch him if I want. I’ll just need to tell Al Haymon. That would be no problem.

“I will think about it because I can’t believe that one of the easiest opponents I ever faced did that.”

It is known that Pacquiao, who’s already a senator, is intending to run for the presidency in his home country of the Philippines next year.

However, formal campaigning doesn’t begin until February and so could allow Manny time for the rematch.

Reflecting on the fight, he surprisingly said: “In my entire career, Ugas was one of the easiest opponents.

He only had one style, and I should’ve been able to easily move away…

You’ve seen how I have moved in my fights before. I couldn’t move in this fight. My legs just – stopped…

He shouldn’t have touched me.

“When I moved here [to the right], I had nothing.

“You know how I move. You’ve seen it so many times.

“Every time I tried, I was left to just block with my hands.”

Thoughts? :-?

Victor Conte claimed “the use of anabolic steroids can cause muscle tightness and [leg] cramps”.

And Manny Pacquiao's former strength and conditioning coach (Alex Ariza) claimed the Filipino was "unequivocally... using performance-enhancing drugs".

Manny has repeatedly blamed the Ugas loss due to him suffering leg cramps, which is a condition he's frequently suffered during his career.

So perhaps Manny will seek advice from a “specialist” for the Ugas rematch and consume a different concoction that will him to maintain his performance levels without causing leg cramps and mobility issues? :-?

Now who's going to be the one to tell Manny he's not 25 anymore? Or even 35.

No worries Manny, you're still the best 42 year old boxer in the world.

Manny is right. This Ugas fellow was truely awful, no wonder he has 4 losses on his record. Jesus if a guy like that can get a bronze medal and a wba world championship belt then what on earth is wrong with this sport?

Only thing that would happen if he got a rematch is he'd lose twice. It'd probably look similar to the 1st fight. If Manny is gonna fight again they need to get him a REAL easy opponent so he can win by KO and go out with a pleasant memory for his fans.

He had the chance to go out on top. Won a world title at 40 against a highly regarded opponent, like something out of a movie. If Pac-Man watched Cinderella Man I bet he skipped the epilogue (Braddock lost the title vs. Joe Louis).

Pac saying this, along with evolving excuses for his losses sheds a bad light on him. He was over-confident, and was out-boxed.

I am not entirely sure that a 42 year old man who can't work out why his legs don't work like they did when he was 20 is really the best man to lead a country.

Manny Pacquiao has never been a “good loser”.

He’s always cited excuses for all of his defeats, but perhaps his denial is a component of his success.

Pacquiao got comprehensively out-boxed. He’s being very disrespectful to Ugas.

Manny blames the leg cramps for his defeat, which he claims was caused by his training regimen, but others believe it’s due to “something” else (as per Conte and Ariza’s words).

Regardless, if Pacquiao’s claims about the cause of his leg cramps really are true, then he’s been repeatedly making the very same mistake over-and-over again for at least a decade.

So he’s only got himself to blame.

He has a knack for lousy excuses like that, it is not a shame to deliver at such level being 42...

After hearing the excuses and outright disrespect of Ugas, who is 35, not a spring chicken himself, Manny is only hurting his own reputation and legacy.

It makes me wish it was Spence or Crawford in there instead, beating Manny senseless to a pulp and stopping him. What would his excuse be then? Give Ugas credit ffs. Floyd offered a rematch initially too before rescinding it because of excuses and disrespect, and Ugas should do the same.

This Ugas guy is awful. If you knew anything about boxing then you would realize that.

To begin with, fans like you that can't recognize talent and give credit to a great boxer like Ugas. He may not be on Spences or Crawfords level, but my guess is you think they are aweful too.

How you handle a loss tells much more about your true character than a win.

Quite true but sadly the voters often don't see it like that. Then there's the problematic question of available options - which nowadays usually can include anything from the mad to the dangerous.

Here in the UK we've got Bojo the Clown in charge, whilst the US seems to have an escapee from the dementia ward calling the shots.

In comparison with either of them, Manny will do just fine.

Rodrigo Duterte is going to pull a Putin. Expecting a tandemocracy, although Manny whose brain turned to mush will probably be even more of a figurehead than Dmitry Medvedev. And any incompetent nincompoop can become President nowadays (François Hollande, George W. Bush, Donald Trump, Joe Biden, ...)

What talent? Guy fckn sucks man, strange that you can't recognize that.

Spence is ok, Crawford is something special going to waste on the shelf.

I heard he beat both Spence and Crawford in the amateurs, so coming from a Cuban boxing team, he can box well. He beat Porter more clearly than Spence did. He beat Pac more clearly than Floyd did. I'd say he's legit. My opinion.
