I just looked it up in the boxrec code book. Height checks are not fouls and utlimately do not run counter to any rules. regs, or protocols.

...I'll allow it.

But I'm warning ya....stay away from the blue bottles.

Ryu who usually stood 4' 2" went into extensive training to bulk up to 5"7 for this losing effort.

kovit's got this weird obsession with height. hes been making these posts for over 3 years now. i remember reading posts back in 2003 of people making fun of kovit for his non stop posts about height.

not only height, but kovits got a weird way of posting. like he has to know wut a certain fighters height is or he cant live. and he will keep making 5 consecutive posts in a row until silk answers him.

my question: kovit how tall are u?

Whats so strange about wanting to know a fighters height?.... as a budding historian I think you could learn a thing or two from Kovit... certainly about heights... what if you didnt know how tall Louis was or Marcinao, ...ofcourse we do because they are so well known but theres lots of fighters whose heights arent documented and this is a mayjor absence in information... me and Kovit are the height historians... don't knock it man!!... :x :x :x

compiling this information is a tall responsibility....someone has to do it. Since I know kovit is covering this area I am free to study in other areas. It all works out at the end of the day.

But since this is an area of interest someone please comment on the practical aspects of this. When is height considered an advantage and when does it work against a fighter? Are certain styles required as a result of a fighters height? Is the taller fighter always the one with the advantage? Is it better for a puncher or a boxer to be the taller fighter in the event? Swarming styles vs Counterpunching? Does height in and of itself represent some basic staples of boxing that we should all be aware of or is it more often irrelevent?

The Short sturdy Fire Plug vs the Will o' the wisp tall, long reached fighter in the same weight class....? Comments?

Speaking of that scenario what are the most obvious examples of those body types paired up in famous events? Other than Refrigerator Perry vs Manute Boll.

Frankly I find this thread to be kind of amusing. I laugh out loud every time Kovit asks Silkov the same question several times before getting an answer. All you see is "Silkov I would please like to know how tall is ____ standing in height..." I'm not making fun of him because if those things are a severe concern to him then he has the right to know certain heights.
