Press Release

Probellum will host a world championship doubleheader at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai on Saturday, December 11 with Probellum: Revolution - as Sunny Edwards defends his IBF flyweight title against Jayson Mama and John Riel Casimero puts his WBO bantamweight title on the line against the UK’s Paul Butler.

The event brings together some of the very best fighters from around the world in what is sure to be an action-packed night of boxing.

Undefeated Edwards (16-0, 4 knockouts) makes the first defense of his world title, taking on his mandatory challenger Mama (16-0, 9 knockouts), after the two men were originally set to meet in September in the UK before an injury postponed the clash.

Casimero (31-4, 21 knockouts) is back following his victory over Guillermo Rigondeaux in August, now squaring off with mandatory challenger Butler (33-2, 15 knockouts). Casimero is one of the most devastating punchers in the division who looks to keep his momentum going in his third world championship defense.

Four-weight world champion Donnie Nietes (43-1-5, 23 knockouts) will also appear on the card, as he looks to move a step closer to another championship in a world title elimination bout. He will be joined by unbeaten super-featherweight Archie Sharp (21-0, 9 knockouts), and former world title challenger Jono Carroll (20-2-1, 5 knockouts), who is coming off an important win against Andy Vences in September.

"We are delighted to finally announce plans for this incredible event in Dubai next month," said Richard Schaefer, President of Probellum. "We made it clear from the offset that we have massive plans in store for Probellum, and this world title doubleheader shows just that.

"The two world title fights see John Riel Casimero face Paul Butler, while Sunny Edwards takes on Jayson Mama, and both of those bouts are set to be guaranteed excitement. With the likes of Donnie Nietes, Archie Sharp and Jono Carroll all competing too, fans will be treated to a night of non-stop action. We cannot wait for fight night and are proud to bring this historic event to the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai."

Press Release

THE IBF WORLD flyweight champion Sunny Edwards will make a first defence of his title against the unbeaten Filipino Jayson Mama at the Copper Box Arena on Saturday September 11.

For 'Showtime' Sunny, 16-0, this mandatory challenge for his belt comes just over four months after his exquisite skills proved simply too much for the former long standing and decorated champion Muruti Mthalane at York Hall, where he became his promoter Frank's 149th world champion a matter of months after the Hall of Famer celebrated 40 years in the professional sport.

This time around, the 25-year-old Edwards will have the additional boost of crowd support inside the Copper Box on a show that falls squarely near the beginning of the traditional boxing 'season'.

It should make for a spectacular start to the new campaign, with Edwards up against a 16-0 challenger, whose KO-record justifies his stage name of 'Smasher'. The 24-year-old has stopped nine of his 16 opponents and hails from a nation with a rich pedigree in the lighter weight classes.

Promoter Frank W commented: "This is a bit of a step into the unknown against an unbeaten fighter who will be as confident of victory as Sunny was against Mthalane. Jayson Mama was good enough to step aside to allow Sunny his shot at the South African great and now it is his turn to attempt to upset the odds.

"To my mind though, Sunny is the best flyweight on the planet and this is just the beginning of a glorious reign as champion. He wants to unify and win the Ring Magazine belt and we will look to do that, but he has this mandatory obligation to navigate through first and he cannot take anything for granted.

"After winning his title in an eerie atmosphere, it would be fitting if the public really come out in their numbers to support Sunny on his journey as world champion and I hope the Copper Box is full to the rafters in recognition of his achievements."

Kinda wanna see Edwards lose. Crazy mentality I know.
But I’m fed up with high IQ/pure scally misnomer he’s trying to pull off.
The beef with Woodhouse online is neither funny or even necessary.

Get on Twitter.
Basically it started about the vaccine. Woodhouse is pro and Edwards’ is anti.
Escalated quickly to the point of 50k being offered to the winner of a fight between them.
Woodhouse constantly mocking Sunny’s size (height) and Sunny constantly mocking Woodhouses’ size (but).

Press Release | Jayson Mama: I'm So Motivated To Grab The Belt From Sunny Edwards!

The cancellation of Jayson Mama’s (W16-0) fight against champion Moruti Mthalane was a blessing in disguise as he finally gets a shot at the same title but this time against newly crowned IBF flyweight world champion Sunny Edwards (16-0).

Edwards snatched the crown from Mthalane via unanimous decision this past April. The Edwards versus Mama flyweight showdown will be held on September 11, at the Copperbox Arena in London, England.

Mama is currently busy with his training camp at the Sanman Gym under the tutelage of coach Ronerex Dalut and strength and conditioning coach Jenny Guevarra.

He has been sparring with stablemates Froilan Saludar and Dave Apolinario.

Jayson is ecstatic about the news.

“This is the biggest fight in my career! I can’t afford to let this slip. I am thankful to my promoter and manager for arranging this life-changing fight. I am also lucky to have quality sparring partners at our gym. I can’t explain the excitement I feel now. I am so motivated to grab that belt from Edwards," Mama stated.

Sanman CEO Jim Claude Manangquil is also busy facilitating the other details of this fight.

“We strongly hope in adding a new world champion to our Sanman Stable. It’s Jayson’s time. Edwards is technically skilled but we have the proper game plan to beat him. Jayson is one of the most hardworking kids in the gym. He will be a world champion," Manangquil said.

Press Release

LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT STAR Callum Johnson makes his return to the ring on the undercard of Sunny Edwards' first defence of his IBF world flyweight title at the Copper Box Arena on Saturday September 11, live on BT Sport.

Edwards goes in against mandatory challenger and also 16-0 Jayson Mama from the Philippines following his epic seizing of the title from former long-standing champion Moruti Mthalane back in April.

Johnson, 19-1 (14 KOs), made an emphatic return to the Queensberry ranks in April with an explosive destruction of Croatian tough man Emil Markic in the second round. Now the 35-year-old former world title challenger will look to remain on course for a second shot with a convincing performance against the Serbian Marko Nikolic, 27-1 (12 KOs).

Nikolic has previously held the WBC Mediterranean light heavyweight title and, in his last fight, suffered his only defeat in a challenge for the WBC International Silver title.

Also on the card, popular middleweight Denzel Bentley (14-1, 12 KOs) gets back into the fighting fold with a domestic dust-up against experienced campaigner Andrew Robinson (24-5-1, 7 KOs).

Bentley suffered his only reverse last time out when defending his British title against Felix Cash and will be seeking to quickly restore himself into title contention.

Some of the finest young talents in British boxing take their place on the Copper Box card with ferocious lightweight Mark Chamberlain (8-0, 5 KOs) back in action and looking to prove himself as the No.1 young lightweight on the Queensberry books.

In March, Chamberlain, 22, demolished the usually resolute Jordan Ellison inside 90 seconds with a sickening body shot and will now be aiming to continue his trail of destruction.

His stablemate in Southampton, Ryan Garner (10-0, 6 KOs), is also no stranger to concussive finishes and 'The Piranha' will be taking the next step before closing in on the super featherweight title challenges his huge ability warrants.

Multi-titled former amateur star Charles Frankham (3-0, 1 KO) will have his second fight as a Queensberry fighter after a successful introduction at the SSE Arena, Wembley in July at lightweight, with former senior ABA champion Masood Abdulah (1-0) also in action at super featherweight.

Super bantamweight Umar Khan (1-0), Super Featherweight Masood Abdulah (1-0, 1 KO), Cruiserweight Ellis Zorro (9-0, 4 KO’s) and the debut-making welterweight Khalid Ali complete the card.

been in with middling opposition but looks decent, quick and snappy jab, likes to work the body and that's useful vs a defensive fighter because the body's harder to get out of the way than the head. was a good am before turning over

omg am i hyped for this :oo
