wilder tactics
for me it's pretty simply, keep the jab more busy than the first 2 fights and take the initative on the front foot, not letting yourself be pushed back and swarmed like fight 2. wilder needs the distance for that long right hand (no, he does not have some awesome uppercut) and fury latching onto him is gonna make it harder
but ive seen everything suggested from fight southpaw to become a backfoot counter left hooker. i think these are bound to fail because youre asking wilder to completely transform as a fighter at 36
what tactics do you recommend to each guy?

Make more use of modern materials like carbon fibre, titanium, and even filament technologies. Also lighter high lithium content batteries

Re: wilder tactics
This is kinda my go to stratergy if your not quite as good but can bang...
Go hard early then find a way out if you havent finnished it. Go out and fight hard at an unsustainable pace, like 6 round pace. put power in your shots and Pray you land hard early, and if not your fucked, but i think wilder is fucked regardless otherwise.
noone does it, but in terms of "whats your best chance to win" i actualy think this is a benificial tactic in rare instances.

Re: wilder tactics
Yep, if your wilder why would you pace yourself to fight 12 rounds when if the fight goes 12 rounds you almost certainly lose...
added bonus of this untested stratergy, is if you go at 6 round pace, what does the opponent do? sure they might stay composed, if they do you have an advantage over those first 6. or they might try go with you, if they do mabey they do it right, but mabey in the moment they fornicate it and gass out with you, in which case coin toss how that goes, because its hard to know what happens to someone when they truely gass.

Re: wilder tactics
He simply can't outbox Fury, he don't have enough class for it. You can't teach old dogs new tricks. Wilder's jab can work against the likes of Stiverne, but not Fury. From the poor arsenal of Wilder only his right hand looks like a proper tool. He can use it only from the range though, so he needs to keep the least.
Wilder should neither try to box vs Fury nor try to exchange with him in close. He should spurt from his range time after time and tie Fury up, when the action continues inside. It's a do-or-die situation for the Big Dosser. Either he tries to bring his best (and only) weapon desperately or he gets battered again.
Actually, the Big Dosser will be battered again. Only possible Fury's decline can cause it going otherwise. It looks like Fury had some problems during his camp. Wilder can only pray for those to affect Fury.

Re: wilder tactics
wilders tactics for me is to move make space set flase traps expect to lose most rds be patient i think the start of the rd look for the big shot as your morelikey to be on the front foot as wilder aint great on the back foot , then when you throw if you miss try to hold, you might get a chance might not , i think bad talk tyson maybe low blow as well, i feel dirty writing this

Re: wilder tactics
Couple of people have suggested holding of you lose your range. Do you think wilder has the legs for much holding, when he grabs on and a 270lb fury starts leaning and dragging that’s burning tons of energy.

I think that is basically it really.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑29 Aug 2021, 01:07 ya, letting the hands go more should defo be part of it
If your a one trick pony, don't wait to show the one trick. The longer he waits to launch the one trick, the more punishment he is going to take.
He can't out box Fury, no point on even trying
Re: wilder tactics
agree iam saying when he lets go of a big shot and misses dont go free styling it, just grab for dear life reff will sort the rest, he wont be able to avoid holding , tyson will be looking for it, its a tough ask for wildergregregegg wrote: ↑29 Aug 2021, 15:52 Couple of people have suggested holding of you lose your range. Re: wilder tactics
If he just adds a left hook to the body and a decent check hook, it'll make it more interesting.

Agree that he needs to be more aggressive. There is almost no way he is going to win a decision. He can't just look for one big punch. He needs to go all out and go for it. He needs a high punch output to have any chance. The lower his weight, the better his chances.
Fury should be just content to bide his time and win a decision unless there is a big opening.

Re: wilder tactics
Wilder will be expected to revert to his free-swinging style before the end of the 1st or 2nd round .. but
He needs to allow/make Fury come forward, and make Fury's flabby soft body and arms his primary target. He needs to avoid Fury grabbing & laying on him by any means .. be that just moving around and behind Fury and spoiling; walking Fury onto the point of the elbow like Mayweather did with Hatton, or grabbing hold of Fury and falling to the canvas each time Fury lays on him ... Fury has no qualms about stinking the joint out with negative tactics, so Wilder needs to surprise Fury by showing he will do the same too.
If Wilder can bash that flabby belly and arms, and frustrate Fury by not being the person trying to put on the show, then Fury will have to change his own tactics as the crowd will be booing him because he will now be the one expected to do something .. and the referee will be allowing less of Fury's own negative tactics. The head shot will appear for Wilder if he can do that.
But can Wilder fight to a plan and not go head hunting; will Wilder be prepared to fight negatively when the crowd are booing?

The problem being for Wilder is he just isn’t built to be a volume guy, he looks awkward as hell when he puts them together and needs room or he just smothers himself. Fury could bob and weave and get him very frustrated if he tried this. Even after fury getting decked in the first fight Wilder came after him and Fury dealt with it even 12 rounds in

Re: wilder tactics
Oh definatly not actual volume., but just rip in 1-2s hard and often. Probably will have to mix it up, should add a just singular right, a 2-1, a loopy round guard shot. Point is, throw bombs hard, use feet as well as you can, not so much working forwards but like run and plant, try catch fury moving in. Also big bombs to the body if fury’s head movement is too sharp.Bard of Boxrec wrote: ↑30 Aug 2021, 12:35The Peter McNeely school of boxinggregregegg wrote: ↑29 Aug 2021, 00:55 This is kinda my go to stratergy if your not quite as good but can bang...

Don’t get me wrong I don’t think he can do it, but my point is no point hanging around accumulating damage, just go hard, try catch fury off guard., put it on him, and then just fake an injury when you start to gas to bad…scummy but the way.

Re: wilder tactics
He knows he can't outbox him. He knows he's not as strong, or as skilled.
The only advantage he has is his power.
Wilder seemed to have the same obsession with his power that Naz had with his, though of course, lacks all the other attributes that Naz had.
At 36, he's not going to be learning an entirely new skillset, so the only thing I can think he'll do, is pursue that one punch that he possesses.
Wilder never really seemed that 'committed' to landing it, in that he was never smart with it. 12 rounds is a long time, watching his championship fights it doesn't look like he's ever biding his time, or making any serious moves to make that punch land. He just looks like a guy that is confident, that at some point, one of those punches will land.
That confidence will have gone now. I imagine that he's been working pretty exclusively on how to land one big shot, rather than assuming he will land it at some point.
