Horace "Lefty" Gwynne pro career
Horace "Lefty" Gwynne pro career
It says on Gwynne's pro page that he competed from 1926-1939 but he won gold in the 1932 Olympics and turned pro after so the 1926 year is in incorrect. I have a few old newspaper articles that say he went undefeated as a professional. One of the articles says he retired in 1939, "including an undefeated four-year run as a professional", which would suggest he started his pro career in 1935. Happy to provide those newspaper articles if you need them for verification.

Thanks. The 1926 entry was a duplicate for a 1935 fight and has been taken off. He did turn pro in 1932, though.

Great, thanks. And he wasn't undefeated as a pro according to your records right?

Re: Horace "Lefty" Gwynne pro career
that quote means he had a 4 year period during his pro career (which was longer than 4 years) where he was unbeaten
not that his pro career was 4 years and that he was unbeaten during the whole thing
he did take losses
not that his pro career was 4 years and that he was unbeaten during the whole thing
he did take losses

Makes sense, thanks for clarifying.
